Apriltober 2022 30 Gatekeeper (Piers the canon NPC)

a/n: The guy at the West Gate kept a diary during the early days of NLA.

All the good things belong to Monolithsoft.

Day 1: Dear Diary, I'm starting over because the ship crashed. So many people, my team, I ... So we're on a planet now. The environment is habitable, air, gravity, temperature, but it isn't easy. Everyone is scrambling to get someplace to sleep, to eat. The residential unit is so crow-

Day 2: Sorry I stopped so suddenly. The native animals started attacking! I thought we were toast, fires everywhere, then the Captain arrived riding on a skell's shoulder. So amazing, like he was a guardian angel. We sheltered while the soldiers fought. I think we're okay.

Day 3: Welcome to New Los Angeles. That's what we're calling the Residential Unit. They're organizing where people can sleep and eat. I have a roommate in the barracks, even though we aren't soldiers. She's nice but chatty (NATASIA IF YOU ARE READING THIS YOU KNOW IT'S THE TRUTH)

Day 5: Real busy after the crash but I finally got myself settled in NLA, joined Prospectors for the sweet cash, and got assigned ... guard duty. So much for using my geology degree lol.

Day 6: West Gate sucks. I missed the excitement on the other side. Heard Commander Tanktop (we call him that because he wears ... guess) punched out a giant monkey.

Day 9: The indigen have been relentless, trying to break through the walls. I'm kinda glad the blast gel is blocking my side. Lots of fighting. Met a nice guy on break, named Carlos?

Day 14: No time, one attack after another. Scary stuff.

Day 18: They made me take a break, but I hear sirens. I need to be at my position.

Day 29: Okay, gonna be better at this. No attacks in two days, I think we may be in the clear.

Day 30: Man, I wish the indigen had eaten this one guy, Birdwhistle (?). What a jerk. I explained, nicely even, how the gate is closed because of the OBVIOUS TO THE NAKED EYE IT IS 20 METERS HIGH crystalized blast gel. Please understand. He was snippy. Understand this, loser. (I wish I had said, but I was nice. Ugh.)

Day 35: So boring. Please understand. Please understand. No, no set date for reopening. Please understand. I almost miss the indigen attacks no I don't!

Day 36: OMGAhhh this guy has a cat, she is the cutest. He was saying how she's a BLADE and doing important work and who cares, she is the cutest little fluffy thing. Then I had to hide in my room and cry because I miss my cats. Still.

Day 45: Please understaaaaaaaaaaaand. My ears are about to drop off from the blasting at the gate.

Day 46: So, I went to have pizza with Carl, it was nice. He ordered garlic bread, so that should tell you how it ended, but you know I don't mind garlic breath. So. He's nice.

Day 48: Saw something new: a survivor. Colonel Elma brought one more back! But her team, they didn't come back. I liked Danny. I barely kept it together before getting back to my room.

Day 52: Oh thank god the gate is clear and I get to ... stand guard. Somehow I got transferred to Mediators. I thought it was just a paperwork error but nope. Screw my life. Carl blows me a kiss every time he goes out doing IMPORTANT THINGS THAT I SHOULD BE DOING TOO. Jerk.

Day 58: Weekend again and Carl took me to a vegetarian cafe. He was telling how nice Elma's new team is and how they understand the planet. I think he might like the rookie, but then we walked home, so nope. ;-)

Day 67: We have NEIGHBORRRRRSSSSS! In a gorgeous ship hanging over the city. They're called the Ma-non, and they are a riot to be honest. I need to get out the pens that Carl gave me and draw their ship, it is like a Christmas ornament. SPARKLY!

Day 68: Something's up. People are real nervous and no one's leaving the city. Plus the weather sucks.

Day 71: Okay, I'm not dead. The Ganglion attacked, like endless waves of them. They have transports that fly and maneuver like skells. Things exploded all over the city. I stood with my team and defended our gate, which again didn't take nearly the same damage as the East Gate. Like I'm jealous, no.

Day 72: If it weren't for the wreckage, you wouldn't know we got hit at all. Carl brought me back some strawlennies from his latest mission.

Day 73: I'm being really good about this, huh? The Mediators had a little party, cookies and hot cocoa but me and another guy snuck some booze into ours. It was nice.

Day 74: NATASHIA I DON'T CARE IF YOU SNOOP BUT PUT THINGS BACK WHERE YOU FIND THEM OKAY?!

Day 75: Carl.

Day 76. Carl. I can't. I'm gonna see if that Matthias guy will let me pet his cat for a bit. Carl.

Day 77: Carl. He's on the Lifehold. We need to get it back.

Day 90: I don't want to look at this diary anymore. I gave away the pens. I'm gonna get a new one, then I'm gonna see about switching to Prospectors again,. Thanks for being here for me.

a/n: Yayyy! Thank you for the support! You can still drop a suggestion and see what happens when I do this again in October. Maybe.
