With a deep sigh, Ren stood before himself as he detangled a brush from the thick and tangled jungle that was his hair at that moment. The dark circles under his slightly bloodshot eyes were a clear sign of his lack of sleep, and his aching muscles further hounding his exhaustion. Specks of dirt and debris fell from the black stands, even an errant twig here or there. That last mission turned out to be a lot more than he had bargained for; what was initially supposed to be a simple huntsman escort turned into a whole den of Grimm converging on their location.
The mission was a success in the end, thankfully, though not without some loss along the way. Ren was just grateful it was only a material loss, rather than a loss of life. He would hate for anyone else to go through what he did, and it was his own creed to prevent it to the best of his ability.
With a hard, frustrated tug, Ren pulled the brush free–taking a few inches of hair along with it. He ran a hand through his hair and looked at himself in the mirror. "I need a nap…" he thought, with another lethargic sigh escaping between his lips. He ran the brush through his hair for a few more minutes, focusing on the particularly tough knots, until basically giving up when it became impossible to remove. A few loud expletives followed him out of the bathroom and he collapsed on his bed and fell asleep almost instantly, sprawled across the covers with his jacket left on the floor as darkness overtook him.
Amidst his deep and dreamy slumber, his gentle snoring disguised a subtle click as his door gently swung open and a bright mass of gold bobbed into the room, with a little golden lick bouncing joyously on top, followed swiftly by a pair of wide lilac eyes. A playful huff as the figure fully stepped into the room, hugging a small bunch of sunflowers against her chest behind crossed arms.
"No wonder…" Yang sighed, but her smile could not be ripped from her lips, even if someone tried. She placed the bouquet down neatly on the bedside table, along with the soft clank of metal as she placed her prosthetic beside it, and patted down her little white sundress and kicked off her heels before kneeling onto the bed itself and crawling in behind the sleeping Ren, nuzzling her face into his back and softly stroking his cheek with the back of her left hand.
Her wrist found the brush that had tangled itself into his messy hair, quickly pulling back at first from the sudden cool sensation, before her fingers gently classed around it and she silently giggled upon her realisation. Her shorter arm slinked under the other side of his head, practically hugging it in her arms as she slowly worked her fingers in with the other and finally freed his frizzy mane.
As if reacting to the warmth of her body and the softness of her touch, Ren turned over his body toward Yang, resulting in a soft "oop" on her part at the sudden movement but she just smiled and pulled him in closer, her arms wrapped around his head to bring him into her chest. It gave her an even easier opening to brush her fingers through his hair and comb out the final bits that he missed. Her tongue poked from her lips as she focused on her task for a few minutes.
Feeling the gentle rummaging of her soft hand gliding through his hair, Ren awoke with a face full of her warm bosom. At first he was shocked, nearly pulling away, until he recognised the familiar, subtle scent of her perfume and relaxed once again.
Ren mumbled a soft greeting, though his words were incomprehensible she understood the meaning behind them, his breath tickling her skin. She giggled, calming him like a soft wind chime in a cool summer breeze.
"Morning, sleepyhead~" Yang spoke softly and fiddled with the pink lock of his hair, playfully curling it around her finger and kissing his forehead. Her chest tightened as his arms slipped around her waist and pulled her in close.
"You missed our date, you ass." Her words had some bite to them, but her smile still betrayed her. Even from a basic glance she could tell he was completely wiped out.
"Sorry… Just got back… This morning…" was all he could manage to let leave his lips, the comfort of her warm body against his further compounding his lethargy.
In a hushed voice, "It's okay, I know… Get some rest, you can make it up to me later." There was a certain air of mischief behind her words, but that would have to wait until later. For now, they were both content to just lay in each other's arms in peaceful silence.
A few slow minutes passed, until Ren raised his head to finally look at Yang face to face. His eyes were less red than earlier, but the dark circles still remained. He pecked her lips with a soft kiss–which she eagerly returned.
"Happy Valentine's Day, Yang."
