Later on, late into the night, Fiona stirred awake, blinking confusedly and looking around, wondering if that was all just a dream. But seeing that she was laying in a bed, warm and sticky with Tails, Tangle and Whisper, proved to her that everything she just experienced was very real. She looked at Tails and sighed.
She was happy, yes. But she was still currently with the Destructix. Not that she wanted to be with them, at least not anymore, but she knew she had to go back to try and get them to let her out. She wanted to be with Tails. But that wasn't the only problem. Only Tails, Tangle and Whisper were the ones who could see she had changed. She didn't know if her old teammates were still working together, but she knew if she saw Sonic, Sally or any of them, they would not be too friendly with her.
"Tails" she whispered to the fox, shaking his shoulder, but being careful not to wake up the other two "Wake up."
"Huh, wha-oh. What is it Fiona?" Tails mumbled, shaking his head to try and wake himself up properly.
"I… I have to leave" said Fiona, feeling like she just stomped on Tails's heart once again. The look he gave her when she said that made it feel like she stomped on her own as well.
"What… why?" asked Tails, looking like he was going to dissolve to tears.
"Believe me" said Fiona "I don't want to. But I must. I have to go back to the Destructix. But not to rejoin them. I'm going to try and get them to let me go. I want to be with you. But I need to try and escape them."
"I… I understand" said Tails, relieved that Fiona was not going back to them to ditch him again, but also devastated that she was still leaving.
"But that's not the only reason I have to leave" said Fiona.
"It's because you're afraid of the other's. Right?" asked Tails "Sonic and Sally in particular, right?"
"Y...Yeah, that's right" said a saddened Fiona "I don't think they'll believe it when I say I've come to my senses. No offence, but I don't think your word, or even Tangle and Whisper's is going to be good enough for them."
"The Freedom Fighters split" said Tails "Sally's too busy with her job as Queen to help fight anymore. Most of the other's have moved on to their own lives. But the rest of us stayed as a team."
"Even still, Sonic might bring me in to see Sally, and even with you three by my side, my case won't look good" said Fiona.
"No" Tails sadly agreed "I know what you mean."
"But I'm determined to be with you like these two" said Fiona, referring to Whisper and Tangle "I'll do what I can on my side to be with you. I ask of you. Try to do the same."
Tails took her hands in his, looking deep into her own, love brimming in his eyes. He leaned in and kissed her gently on the lips before pulling away and speaking again.
"I promise" said Tails "It's going to be tricky. But I will do whatever I can."
Fiona smiled at him and reluctantly let go of his hands, climbing over Tangle, careful not to wake her up. She slowly redressed and turned to leave the bedroom, and Tails's house altogether. Before she stepped outside, she looked back at the fox, who watched her leave.
"Bye Tails" said Fiona "See you soon. I hope."
And with that she was gone. Tails felt a few tears run down his eyes as she left. He knew why she had to do it. Her reasons made complete sense. But it still broke his heart that she had to do it at all. But then he stopped. He reached a hand up into his eye and wiped the tears away. It was no use crying over it now. He didn't know when this would happen, but one thing was certain. He was going to see her again, and he needed to help her by convincing his friends that she was good again.
Soon, Tangle and Whisper began to stir next to him, and they sat up too, yawning and rubbing their eyes. They smiled upon seeing their foxy lover, but became confused when the other fox was nowhere to be seen.
"Tails, where's Fiona?" asked Tangle.
Tails explained to the two of them why Fiona had disappeared, and the two of them hugged him tightly to comfort him, to which he smiled and kissed their foreheads. Then Tangle looked into his eyes.
"We'll do whatever we can to get Fiona back into the teams good books" said Tangle "We know you two can't leave without each other. So we'll do what we can. Right Whisper?... uhhh, Whisper?"
It wasn't out of character for Whisper to go silent, but she seemed to be rather distant after Tails explained why Fiona had disappeared. Tails was confused at first, but then it hit him. Whisper loved him too, and she was worried that he would no longer want her to be his girlfriend now that Fiona was in on this.
"Hey" said Tails, putting a hand on her shoulder "Don't be sad. I'm not going to abandon you just because Fiona will soon be a part of this."
Whisper turned her head and looked at Tails. Due to her past rocky relationship with one of her old teammates, she had trouble believing in who to trust. But when she looked into Tails's eyes, he could see genuine love and care inside of them.
"Both you and Tangle can still be my girlfriends" said Tails "I'll give all three of you equal amounts of attention. But I would never abandon you for one single girl."
Whisper couldn't help but smile as Tails made this claim. Her smile turned into a laugh which in turn made Tangle and Tails laugh too. She leaned in and kissed him on the cheek.
"So, you'd be a little player, just so that I can be happy?" Whisper giggled softly.
Tangle laughed harder than before as Tails blushed madly and made himself look like a tomato. He had suddenly realised just how big of a deal it was to have three girlfriends who loved him equally. Well… technically four but the fourth one was only a one time thing and was still entitled to her own boyfriend technically.
"Well… I… umm" Tails stammered.
"Heheheh, alright Whisper, I think we've teased our poor stud enough for one night" said Tangle "I think it's time we all rest up. Then we can start planning on how we are gonna get Fiona back into everyone's good books."
Whisper and Tails nodded as the three of them settled back into bed to go back to sleep. Tangle and Whisper cuddled up to Tails's arms and he hugged them close to him as he looked up into the ceiling.
"I just hope Fiona can get herself out of the Destructix" he said to himself as he slowly dozed off too.
Meanwhile, Fiona had arrived back to the base of the Destructix. It had dawned on her that being gone for so long and not succeeding with their plan would already spell trouble for her. She prayed to Chaos that she could find a way to let them let her leave. But the first face she was met with made her curse under her breath.
"Your back late" said a green hedgehog, who was known by his enemies as Scourge the Hedgehog, an alternate version of Sonic with different motives that separate him from the blue blur.
"Glad to see someone went out to see if I was okay" said Fiona in a sarcastic tone.
"So" said Scourge, glaring at the red fox suspiciously "Did you find out where those emeralds are?"
"No" said Fiona, and reeling back when Scourge kicked a chair across the room in anger.
"WHY NOT" he roared at her, but she stood her ground, not letting Scourge frighten her.
"Look, that little freak…" she hated herself for saying that "... is tougher than he looks okay? I couldn't get him to spill anything and his stupid Freedom Fighting pals busted me before I could stab the information out of him. So I'm sorry if I failed because the stupid fucker wouldn't talk!"
"Grr, I'll let you off the hook this time" said Scourge "But come back from another failed solo mission, and you won't like what you're in for next."
"Actually" said Fiona, crossing her fingers behind her back, hoping to Chaos she could get herself out of this "I don't really wanna do this anymore Scourge."
The green hedgehog stared at the red fox as if she just said she broke his favourite device. He walked towards her slowly and got right in her face.
"What did you just say?" asked the green hedgehog.
"I said, I don't want to do this anymore Scourge" said Fiona firmly "It just feels so pointless. We've been at it over and over again, and nothing has worked. I really just feel like we can't win here. So maybe… we should just give up, and live normal lives. And if you don't want to give up yourself… can you at least let me go?"
Fiona figured she was playing a dangerous game here, but she had to do something to get herself out. But to her dismay, Scourge looked her deep in the eyes through his red glasses. Then he did something that she didn't think was possible. He read her like a book.
"You didn't get busted by the Freedom Fighters at all did ya?" he growled at her, grabbing her by the neck, choking her.
"AHK! SCOURGE! STOP!" she gasped out, as she was lifted into the air by the hedgehog.
"You actually care about that little freak don't you?" he growled "You two timing swine! You don't want to give up because it's pointless. You want to give up for HIM, don't you!?"
"S...Scourge" she whimpered, desperately gasping for air.
"Well forget it bitch" he shouted, throwing her to the floor "You wanna quit the Destructix so bad? You can! But you'll be staying here. Because now… you're our prisoner."
Fiona gulped as the green hedgehog got closer to her. She knew this wouldn't be easy, but she didn't expect Scourge to actually do something smart. A single tear ran down her face as she knew she couldn't escape. But what could she do? There was only one thing she could do.
'Tails' she thought to herself 'Please. Come save me.'
Meanwhile, elsewhere, a female cat was storming out of her home, furious. She had finally figured out why her husband was so reluctant to help her out with heat season a couple of months ago. He was fucking cheating on her! The furious, fiery female, was known as Blaze the Cat.
Of course, one may call Blaze a hypocrite for getting angry and upset for her boyfriend, Silver, for cheating on her. But if they wanted to get technical, he started it. His cheating was the reason she cheated in the first place. But if he wanted to fall under the spell of that stupid bat slut, then she had no reason to care.
"If he wants to be with her so badly, then he can!" She growled to herself "I know someone who will love and respect me!"
With that, she stormed into the direction of her new love interest's home. She figured he was the perfect choice to be her boyfriend, and she could share him with two other girls with no dishonesty at all.
"I hope Tangle and Whisper are still willing to share him," she said to herself as she continued walking.
Could it be? Yet another sequel? Perhaps! But when will it come out? In another year on Youko's next birthday? Sooner than that? Later than that? I'm afraid I cannot tell just yet. Because even I don't know where this will go... yet.
