No one survived in or above the impact zone of the North Tower. But the South Tower? That would be a different experience. These are stories from those that survived or later succumbed, during the fateful day of September 11, 2001. I loved these stories of 9/11 and I felt like sharing them here. 10. Ling Young

I work on the 86th floor of the Southern Tower for New York State of Taxation - along with my co-worker Mary Jos.

When the plane came in, everybody who was facing, directly behind the wingtip, ended up surviving the ordeal.

Most of my co-workers who were in the sky lobby with me - Dianne Gladstone, Diane Urban, Sankara Velamuri and Yeshavant Tembe.

They all died, waiting for an elevator to take them down, from the 78th floor.

A man with a red handkerchief - directed me, down Stairwell A.

I was becoming motionless, and barely able to move.

I don't know what happened but, I got to the 40th floor and I see a woman (Judy Wein) run into an operable, elevator shaft.

I rush into the elevator.

I don't even know who this woman was but, by instinct I followed her.

The elevator led, the few of us inside the shaft, outside.

I jumped into an ambulance with Mary Jos and not even a minute later, from a block away, I witnessed the Southern Tower collapsing.
