"So, do you girls remember where you live?" The man in blue asked. The two girls looked down, their eyes dark and empty.
"N-No..." Pan said in defeat. "We're...not from here..."
Bulla continued. "Yeah... We're kinda lost..." Neither dared to look up.
"And you said they just appeared in the middle of the sidewalk?" The police officer asked Togata.
With a nod, Togata made a visual aid in the form of a 'poof' affect. "That's right, Officer Hiwajima."
"Well, what about your parents?" He asked them, causing Bulla to grit her teeth to fight back the tears. Pan reached over and took Bulla in her arms, allow her to silently weep into her shoulder. The sight of this took Togata as a surprise.
"We, uh...don't have any, sir." Pan explained, patting Bulla on the back.
The man understood the weight of the situations, his hazel eyes looking over the children as his hand ran through his dirty blond hair. Poor girls. He thought to himself as he turned to his computer. Looking over the girls, the blue-haired one, with chest length hair, had black skirt with gold chain, a white shirt, and a red jacket with the letter 'C' and a circle around it on the left shoulder, and she wore a headband in her dripping wet hair, while the other one, with hair that only went down to her neck, wore some kind of white jacket, one that he'd only ever seen in Chinese movies, and black jeans. Both of them were soaked to the bone, shivering lightly. Both seemed to be about in high school, with the blue-haired girl looking to be roughly 155 centimetres, while her friend was a little taller, maybe about 157 centimetres.
With a loud sigh, the man took his head out of his hands. "Alright, girls. this is what I'm going to do. I'll get your names, and some basic information, and I'll run down to town hall to get some residence cards created for you two. It really does seem you were just kind of dropped into the country, so it'll at least help people identify you. Do you think you can do that for me?" The only response he earned was a nod from young girl in white. "I'm sorry to hold you up, young man, but do you think you could help me keep an eye on them? You do have a Provisional License, after all."
"Of course, it's no trouble." Togata said. "Just give me a moment, please. I need to call my friend and let her know that I'll be way late to school." The tall man stepped out with his phone in hand.
"Alright, girls," the officer said as he started writing on a sticky note, "if you can take those pens next you and fill in these notes, I can help you out as soon as possible. Until then, I'll have Lemillion take you two to a local orphanage. How does that sound?" He said as he handed Pan a sticky note, quickly trying to replicate with the second one.
Pan nodded weakly. "Yes, sir." She said before taking the pen out of the holder to their left. The two girls began filling out the notes slowly. Officer Hiwajima gave them the address of the orphanage so that they could continue.
After about twenty more minutes, Togata walked in with a bag and a couple of towels. "Hey girls! I'm sorry it took me so long! I stopped at the convenience store a couple doors down and I got a couple of things for you." He said, kneeling down to hand them both a towel. "I'm sure you must both be freezing."
"Thank you." Bulla told him as they began to dry themselves off to the best of their abilities.
"I also thought you might be hungry, so I bought some snacks a drinks." He raised the bag and gave the girls a wide smile.
"You're so kind, mister." Pan told him as she tucked the corners of her towel into her shirt.
"So, Lemillion, do you think you could drop them off at this orphanage for me?" Officer Hiwajima asked him.
Togata held out his hand. "Of course. Come on, girls. We can even pick up some more clothes for you on the way if you'd like." Pan took it, holding both his and Bulla's hands as the three of them walked off together.
