"I just can't get over how grown you two have gotten!" Cora, the waitress, gushes over Bella and Alec. "So gorgeous and handsome!" She compliments. Cora sets down a top sirloin steak dish for Charlie, a cod dish for Bella, and a greasy burger dish for Alec. Bella keeps her eyes on her dish, as her cheeks glow red. Alec sends the woman a 'thank you' smile. It's in that moment a fifty something year old man comes up to the table, a big smile on his face.

"Remember me, kiddos? I was Santa the one year..." The man asks, his eyes lingering on Bella a little too long. The man gave Alec the creeps. The twins decided to join Charlie for dinner at the diner, on this less gloomy friday. The rest of their school week, since starting monday, was uneventful. Other than Bella obsessing over why Edward has been missing school; while the other four Cullens attended. Alec couldn't understand Bella's fascination with them, specially Edward.

"Waylon, they hadn't had a Christmas here since they were four." Charlie explains to the man.

"Bet I made an impression though!" Waylon exclaims, still smiling, and even adds a wink. Cora waves him off. Alec shakes his head amused at the old guy.

"Let them eat their dinner." She tells Waylon ushering him to his seat. She comes back to the twins with a smile. "When you're done, I'll bring your favorite - Berry Cobbler. Remember? Your dad still has it... every thursday." She says with a slight laugh, but giving Charlie a look.

"That'll be great, thank you." Alec says. He doesn't know about Bella, but he couldn't remember loving Berry Cobbler. Cora smiles and goes to attend her other tables.

"So... you eat here like a lot?" Bella asks Charlie as they all pick at their food. Charlie shrugs.

"Easier than doing dishes." He explains as he takes another bite out of his steak.

"I can cook." Bella says, not as a suggestion, but as a statement. "I usually done the cooking back at home... in Phoenix."

"We all know mom can't exactly make a meal to save her life." Alec says, slightly joking.

"I remember.." Charlie says and all three of them laugh, remembering how Renee has cooked in the past. "So how's school been? Meet anyone?" He asks, hoping they're settling in fine.

"A few people." Alec says with a shrug, he hasn't exactly become close with anyone. He likes the people he met, and definitely thinks they're weird. He just isn't close with them yet, like sharing secrets or comparing childhoods. Then again, it's only been a week... and only time will tell.

"Do you know the Cullen family?" Bella asks timidly. Alec glances at her in question. He was honestly annoyed already that she just couldn't let the strange eyed porcelain kids go. Just like Jessica had said, they stick to themselves. Edward has made it very clear of his dislike for Bella. He couldn't stand her sitting next to him, he would glare at her in the cafeteria, and even wanted to switch classes to get away from her. Now he's been mysteriously absent since monday. Alec shook his head out of those thoughts... now he's putting too much thought into it. The way Edward did react to Bella, Bella was probably the last thing on that Cullen's mind.

If only Alec knew... Bella was all Edward could think about.

"Are people talking about them again?" Charlie asks sharply. It seems the Cullens are just a sensitive subject for everyone.

"No... well a little," Bella admits.

"Just because they're newcomers. We're lucky to have a surgeon like Dr. Cullen at our podunk hospital. Lucky his wife wanted to live in a small town. Lucky his kids aren't like a lot of the hell-raisers around here." Charlie rambles and rants. You could tell the gossip that surrounded the Cullens irritated him. The rest of the dinner was silent and kind of awkward. Alec was simply done with the topic of the Cullens.

"I just got off the phone with your sister. I had to save a few quarters so I could talk to my baby boy! So tell me everything... how's school? Any girls, boys? How are you liking Forks? Do you miss the heat yet?" Renee fires question after question. She couldn't get much out of Bella, but Alec was always a mommy's boy. After Charlie, Bella, and Alec had dinner they went home. Bella and Alec separated themselves by going into their rooms, as Charlie watches sports in the living room. As Alec finished up his homework for the weekend, his mother called him.

"School's school. No girls, no boys. Forks is great, and I have yet to miss the heat." Alec fires back, answering Renee. Renee has always been accepting of Alec liking who he likes. Alec has yet told Charlie, but figured the time would come, when it comes... if it comes.

"Don't be snarky! Come on, share with your mother." Renee says with a laugh, missing Alec dearly. Alec cracks a smile.

"Made a few acquaintances. There's possibly a girl, her name is Angela. I might ask her to the formal that's coming up in a few weeks, but... I think she likes this other guy. We'll see how it goes. I'm not going to be heartbroken about it. I have honestly been loving Forks. You know me, I love the rain." Alec says ranting off. Renee was always easy to talk to when it comes to things like this. She was only hard to talk to when it came to changing her mind, or something serious, or just weighted.

"Angela... that's a pretty name." Renee beams. "If you ask her, she'd be stupid to say no. Gosh... I miss you guys like crazy. If spring training goes well, we could be living in Florida. You and Bella are more than welcome to come back home. I'm sure here shortly you'll get tired of Forks, you're going to get bored." Renee explains thinking her kids are just like her, can't stay in one place for too long. "Please insert 25 cents to continue," a robotic voice says.

"Mom, where is your cell?" Alec can't help but ask. "Lost your power cord didn't you?" Renee laughs

"I repel technology!" Renee jokes, and Alec laughs. Alec can't help but kind of miss his mom in this moment.

"I really do enjoy Forks, mom. I'll definitely visit though, maybe once summer hits or even when spring break comes." Alec assures her. "I promise."

Before either of the twins knew it, it was monday again. Forks decided to greet the residents with snow. Bella was over dressed as she hates the snow, her gloves looking like oven mits. Alec is dressed more appropriately, enough to keep warm if he doesn't stay out in the harsh weather too long.

"Dad we're heading out." Bella says as she heads out the door for school. She left before Alec could tell her, dad was out putting snow tires on her truck. Alec had already done the Jeep with Jacob the day before. Alec exits the house as he watches Bella slide and fall down on her backside. Alec and Charlie rush to help stand her up. "Ice doesn't help the uncoordinated" Bella remarks.

"That's why I got you all new tires." Charlie says "Now I'll be late for dinner. I'm heading down to Mason county. A security guard at the Grisham Mill got killed by some kind of animal." He explains.

"An animal?" Bella asks in almost disbelief.

"We're not in Phoenix anymore, Bells." Alec reminds her.

"They've been hunting it for a week with no luck. Thought I'd lend a hand." Charlie says.

"Be careful." Bella states, worried about him hunting in this weather. Specially, after an animal that's been mauling people.

"Always am," Charlie confirms.

"And dad," Alec calls out as Charlie begins to head towards his cruiser. "Thank you for the tires." Alec thanks him as Bella chimes in "Yes, thank you." The twins were touched, Charlie forked out money like that for them, so they would drive safe. Renee wouldn't have done it. Charlie gives them a nod, before heading to work.

"Taking the Jeep today?" Bella asks, already knowing the answer. She's little disappointed, as she wasn't sure if she's comfortable enough to drive in this weather.

"Yeah, I'm going to Jacobs after school." Alex explains as he heads towards the Jeep. Bella just nods and gets in the truck.

Rain could be heard on the roof of the school, as the twins walk into class.

"... and yeah, prom committee is a chick thing, but I got to cover it for the paper anyway, and they need a guy to help choose the music -So I need your play list" Eric says to Alec. Alec nods pulling out his iPod. "Thank you, thank you!" Eric says, excited the music would be covered.

"Hey Arizona, how you liking the rain?" Mike asks Bella as he shakes his wet hat at her; just as he walks through the door.

"It's great, really." Bella says sarcastically. Bella heads towards her seat, where it seems Edward has finally made his return.

"Come on, weirdo." Alec says playfully putting Mike in a head lock, dragging him to their desk as the pair laugh.

"Onion root tip cells! That's what's on your slides. Separate and label them into the phases of mitosis. The first partners to get it right, win... the golden onion!" The teacher explains excitedly. The class was a mix of dread, and a few laugh over the 'golden onion' reward. With that the partners begin to go through the work sheet. Alec had to do the majority as Mike was completely lost. They made second place, after Edward and Bella; as Mike would keep cracking jokes and distracting Alec.

It was finally the end of the school day, and both Bella and Alec were ready to go home. Bella openly admits to Alec how Edward finally talked to her today. Alec sarcastically says he's 'happy for her'; in which Bella responds by playfully punching him the shoulder.

"Maybe you could talk to him." Bella suggests as they make their way to Bella's truck. Alec wants to make sure she gets there okay, as the parking lot is covered in ice.

"-and why would I do that?" Alec asks.

"Maybe he... maybe he would talk to you more? You're guys, and maybe you can figure him out? You've always been good at reading people." Bella says.

"Do you like him? Have some sort of crush Bells?" Alec asks with a knowing smile. Bella shakes her had nervously.

"No, no... it's just I want to know why he was jerk to me, now he's nice. Then he left our conversation so abruptly." Bella exclaims.

"Bella..." Alec says with a knowing look. "Seems to me he likes you, and the poor guy doesn't have the best communication skills." He explains. "Anyways, we'll talk more when I get home later...okay? I got to meet up with Jake." Alec says. "Are you good to get home?"

"Yeah, I'm just going to read this last page and head home." Bella says motions towards the book in her hands. Alec nods and gives her a quick kiss on the forehead. Alec begins to walk over to his Jeep, when he hears tires screeching. Before Alec knew it, Tyler's navy blue van was sliding towards Bella. Alec's heart drops as he yells.

"Bella!" Alec begins to rush to try and save her, but before he could arms wrap around him and prevent him from doing so. Alec watches in horror as the van collides with the truck. The arms release him and Alec runs over to Bella. Bella was sitting on the ground in shock. Alec helps her to her feet and keeps asking her is she okay as he hugs her. She seemed perfectly fine, just in shock. Alec looks over and notices it must have been Emmett Cullen that held him back. He also notices the dent in the truck and on the van; they didn't match up. The van did look as if it was simply pushed away. Edward was walking away from the scene as kids gathered to check on Bella. Alec didn't know how, but Edward pushed that van... he knew he did. But how in the hell did he get over to Bell so fast? He was across the parking lot... Alec couldn't help but think.

Alec drove Bella to the hospital in the truck, and decided to pick up his Jeep later. Dr. Cullen checked Bella out. Alec couldn't help but scoff and roll his eyes. The Cullens are just everywhere. Charlie met up with them, relieved to know Bella is okay. Alec called Renee as Bella demanded answers from Edward; and like usual she didn't get any. If anything both Bella and Alec are left with more and more questions.
