Minor Updates: Hey so I'm happy that i didn't get too far into Wild-Light before deleting it but I really want to try it again. Twilight is much more dialogue than action in New Moon where I will still be starting the story from. I still like Ashnaia but I'm considering changing more things. I want to be happy with this story like I am with Fixing What I Can.

I'm still keeping the poly element as it's going to be part of the interest of the storyline. Something will be completely changed as I couldn't settle on a vibe for Ash yet. Just give me some time and I will have her correct. Hopefully it won't be long before I post it again but improved.

About Fixing What I Can that will be updated just like always with a 3 or 4 day wait period. I feel like that's consistent, right? (Maybe. Probably.) Just a heads up, time skipping is about to happen after this chapter, sorry.

Now onto the story.

Chapter 14-

It was so weird to be wearing a long-sleeved shirt in the middle of summer. I was burning up from the Virginian heat and wanted to just risk some shorts and a tank top even if my bruises and cuts would be on display.

It was no better walking to Vick's and Matty's place under the high sun. I was sweating buckets by the time I was at their doorstep. I wiped my forehead with my shirt and opened the door. If I wasn't used to the constant open doors in this town, I would feel it was the most unsafe and stupidest thing ever considering where i'm from.

"Vicky?" I called out.

"I'm upstairs." I followed the sound of her voice to her room. Vicky was sitting on her bed with Matt and a pile of snacks in the middle of them.

"Hey Mav." they both said at the same time.

"Hey. There better be some warheads in that pile." I plopped down at the foot of the bed, my hands already digging through the pile for my favorite candy. I grabbed the first blueberry warhead and popped it in my mouth.

"I know I've said it before but ew. They don't even taste sour for one and two, they have the worst taste." he gagged at the thought. I stuck my blue spotted tongue at him and continued smacking on my candy.

"So, what did you two call me over for?"

Vicky shrugged. "Just missed you. Nobody has really seen you in a week and you're all home alone now. I really want to make sure you're ok. I mean your mother doesn't come back for 26 more days and Windy isn't back until the end of summer."

"Windy, I'm not really worried about. I call her whenever I remember" except the 2 days "And when Jorrie gets back, hopefully rehab worked its magic." And if that didn't work, I was going to find a traditional witch who can work their magic.

"You know you're welcome to stay over whenever if that house gets too lonely." Matt said to me.

"I'll keep that in mind. By the way, isn't Kelly supposed to be home?"

Vicky's face turned dark. "Wherever she is she most likely has booze and men so in her book it's a good place to be instead of here with us." She hissed.

I knew I should have interfered early, but I was always sidetracked. I thought that just keeping Vicky surrounded by friends and me and Matt being a constant would keep her from coping but I'm not sure how much longer she would stay away from the pills. I didn't want Matt to go through what he did with Vicky, and I didn't want Vicky to end up dead, vampire or drugs.

To take their mind off of their mom I offered to cook lunch. I whipped up some burgers and fries and watched them eat and praise my cooking.

"Now you're really not leaving." Matt told me, taking another bite of his burger. I tossed a fry at him and rolled my eyes. By time they were finished they were tired and went up to Vicky's room for a nap. I joined them but as soon as I noticed they were deep asleep I got up and started plotting.

What nobody but I knew was that Kelly Donovan wasn't a regular human. From the show she looked like the average flighty mom who was self-centered, cared about no rules and barely even gave a thought to her children. She was the black sheep of the town, judged for her ways in high school then being left by her husband. In some ways I felt for Kelly but only so much. She wasn't the smartest cookie if she thought that there was no one who could help her. Luckily, I could because I loved Vicky and Matt. I would be damned if I let her damage them even more than she already has.

The Donovan kids were still deeply asleep, thanks to a little magic, when Kelly came in at 2am. Sad part, she wasn't drunk enough to be coming in at 2am. The energy around her was buzzing and she was in that content state of clarity.

"A little late to be coming in, isn't it Kelly?" She jumped at the sound of my voice. She turned on the lights and saw I was just sitting down on her couch. I'll admit, I did it so creepily for the effect.

"What the hell Maverick? What are you doing in my house?" She whisper screams. "Shouldn't you be home?"

"Shouldn't you?" I raised my eyebrow.

Kelly put on a tight smile that looked like it would snap. "You know, I think it's about time you leave. I'll even drive you."

"See as much as I would love to be worlds away from you, I actually am here to help you."

She scoffed. "What could a child help me with?"

I stood up and magic sped in front of her, relaxing my facial muscles so she would take what I had to say seriously. "You feel like a recent meal and smell like strong cologne. Hopefully you didn't leave a body behind."

Kelly's eyes widened. "H-how did you-"

"There's a word for your kind Kelly. And I know that you don't want to hurt your kids, but you can't help it because of your nature that you can't control."

"Get out."

"Make me."

Kelly, being the impulsive woman she was, lunged for me but after being attacked by vampires for the last two days I was more than ready. I punched her in the stomach before she could even touch me. She dropped quickly clutching onto her stomach, looking at me with fear in her eyes.

I stooped down to her level staring her right in the eyes. "I'm going to tell you one thing and one thing only Kelly Donovan. I don't give a damn about you. I'm going to help you because I love your children and that's it. I'm going to get you under control, so you won't fuck up their lives even more than you already have. I should have come earlier but I'm here now. So, you have a choice, be complicit and accept my help or I will break you until you get it through your thick skull that without me your life will soon become meaningless." I wasn't sure if I could actually break anybody but like I always learned how.

"If I hurt my kids, it's on you." She growled.

"No, if you hurt your kids, I will kill you. Now get up. There's still enough of the night to teach you something about succubi."

Oh my goddess we are done with the year of being 13. I am over it and finally able to get down to the plot which, if you haven't guessed already, is changed big time. Plus, how many of you knew that Kelly was intended to be a succubus, but the idea was scrapped because it was too much? I'm keeping it because it's good to introduce the other legends instead of just keeping the big three for a long ass time.

I'm sad to be saying goodbye to these years but we must. Be sure to R&R (if you want to) and be on the lookout for the next chapter.

Until next time- BigSmallWonder
