"AmitainyaLuzceska" [01] - a chronicle of an alternate/parallel universe, different from EarthPrime,
a translation into EarthPrime language made by Roland, ambassador without portfolio.
Characters within alternate, parallel universes are similar to and different from their counterparts.
Readers are encouraged to be, or become, familiar with:
- Star Trek, The Next Generation [ST-TNG], especially planets Romulus, Vulcan, Qo'noS/Kronos (Paramount).
- The Owl House (Disney). Episodes and extracts from Disney's The Owl House.
- Episodes and extracts from The Twilight Zone (Viacom-CBS and Warner Bros).
- WWII carriers, battleships, ships: supply, medical, troop, etc. (Discovery and History channels).
Almost all Vulcans and many but not all Romulans have completed their respective versions of Kolinahr,
a process that removes some emotions from the mind, replacing them with logic.
What a son's father believed impossible, what that father's son believed possible, within this universe, the beginnings of Reunification and Alliance became a reality. Romulus-Vulcan Alliance, or Vulcan-Romulus Alliance [depending on whom you ask], Ambassador Tusparok greets an old friend, Captain VorKrieg, gekha (soldier), and saehne (officer), just one of the many long time Missions Captain of Romulus.
"Thank you for welcoming me to Romulus and your office in this complex, Captain."
"It is an honor to me for you to be here again, Ambassador."
Facing a replicator, guest Tusparok mono-toned "Two Travyanoy Chay - this time in cups."
"You must have something on your mind almost to forget to specify glasses or cups."
"Correct, Captain. I was given Copy Sets of video and audio transmissions intercepted by a monitoring station, in many parts, from EarthPrime. I would not know if any sentient beings passed through any particular portal. I am only aware The Super Computer calculates receiving, at present, only video and audio segments. Our monitoring stations, Qo'NoS (Kronos), and Vulcan monitoring stations all confirm the Super Computer's current findings." [One of several Copy Sets, labeled "The Isles", was given by a Romulan official to Ambassador Tusparok a short while ago.]
Since, long ago, the appearance of spell-casters such as Dr. Strange and others, most planets were able to begin developing, maintaining, and improving defenses against most known spatial-temporal anomalies and aggressive spells. Most, if not all, military and civilian large atmospheric and in-space vessels are shielded against any such harm. Such vessels have the weaponry to counter aggression attempts and unwanted/unneeded interactions. However, there are still numerous civilian vessels that can be either interfered with or harmed.
"I, like you, Tusparok, have noticed much from EarthPrime arrives in various forms of sentient beings over many years. All of them have their own needs, wants, and agendas. What information do you have concerning the transmissions, as mentioned earlier?"
"Transmissions were a series of video and audio segments, some long ones, many short ones, some with linear timelines. Many with apparently scrambled timelines - as though several minds and hands were 'editing' and 'adjusting' the segments."
"May I assume, Tusparok, by visiting here, you wish me to take my set, view them, hear them, and formulate what our responses might be?"
"Correct, Captain. May we use your library-study room?" [They walk into said room.]
[VorKrieg is in his later 60s, and the ambassador is in his middle 60s.]
"Let us begin, Ambassador."
Once inside the library-study room, the Copy Set is carefully unboxed and placed into the two-dimensional player. They sit in armchairs and assume typical sit-down postures, arms on the armchair or hands folded gently and resting upon their belt assembly in the front.
With a complete lack of emotion, they begin to watch and listen dispassionately to segments of video and audio. There may or may not be Vulcan nor Romulan words for puzzlement, an emotion they do not often have. Curiosity might be the best they can generate during the segments, which seem primarily linear in the timeline. They develop a running commentary, most of which does not require or solicit a response to said commentary.
"I noticed one character is not being very ambassadorial to others."
"Was Dr. Strange ever surrounded by this number of spells and spell-casters?"
"Captain, there is an increasing focus upon two characters, more so than the other two."
"And, the other lady has maintained her early alliances with the few she selected relatively early."
"It appears that two main characters are coming into their own."
"Two other characters also are coming into their own."
"Many spells and spell-casters surround that place."
"It seems one of the two ladies is more attracted to the other lady."
Several short pieces have similar audio backgrounds and references to a particular dance - which were only a mild puzzlement.
"One of the ladies has been slowly, haltingly, shifting her alliances from one group to another."
Both became more attentive during segments where Amity exclaims twice loudly and once softly: "Stay away from...!"
"I note that the dark-haired lady has become quite attracted to the other lady. So the relationship has come full circle?"
"I wonder if 'BellowFellow' will be a problem, not only there, but also remotely possibly here."
Another scene, shown several times, caught both their attention, for a few moments, during the viewings: the scene where some young teenagers and other assorted sentient beings were gathering in a living room. In another scene, two individuals sat side by side, viewing a projection on a wall.
"I realize those two have formed a friendship, foreign to us, apparently familiar to their part of the universe."
"What concerns me more is if their spell-castings somehow transmits or was transmitted, in whole or in part, into our universe."
"I still remember the visits from some other spell-casters, some benign and helpful, others, not so much."
What would have taken them approximately 5 hours was shortened considerably by speeding through numerous repeat segments.
"Captain, I will return to my suite and prepare my response as little as it is likely to be."
"Tusparok, I will finish my other self-assignments. And, prepare a response as well, soon." Then, both left for their respective destinations.
Missions Captain VorKrieg began what some would call a few-item short-term bucket list to be completed before leaving on a mission.
For some reason, faint snippets of "Stay away from...!" entered his mind.
He almost passed the Memorial Hall; however, something seemed to draw him into that room. [He was to remain in the room for approximately one hour.]
At first, he glanced about the rather large room. Then, he moved in closer to the left. Drawn to the first column, he began reading the names, vessels, dates of service, etc., listed. Name after name, vessel after vessel.
They gave their lives in the Romulan Military (ch'Rihan arianofv), enlisted, conscripted officers, and made no difference. The lists had them all. Another column to the right, name after name, vessel after vessel, column after column. The dead were not, are not, forgotten.
To the right are partial listings of known wounded to various degrees. Many are not on these lists.
Suddenly, the first two "Stay away from...!" boomed into his mind, somewhat surprising him. As the names rolled through his mind, he imagined each one, in their way, through action and different wording, thinking, proclaiming, "flaeon u nn [from] ch'Rihan!" ["Stay away from Romulus!"] - defending their Homeland from outside aggressors. Within his mind, a determination loomed - lakhraem ch'Rihan [defend Romulus]. As others have done, as others will do, this Missions Captain will continue doing likewise.
Another thought entered his mind - "[Creator] will resurrect, bring back millions..." There have been occasional transmissions from several religious organizations existing somewhere. If someday so within EarthPrime, not only every soldier, every support person, included would be first responders, police, fire, all manner of service people, and the populace, in general, will be brought back, made alive. Perhaps also within this alternate universe - everyone will be brought back, made alive. When that time arrives, all these memorials become a thing of the past.
Feelings? Why are there feelings? His mind indicated, "get to the computer room" - and there is where he went. Unlocked the door, entered, and sat down. He prepared himself to spend some time in this room.
The Super Computer is named not because it is super above all other computers, but rather because it is a Superintendent. In addition to its numerous regular duties, It is also responsible for interfacing with the Romulan monitoring stations, compiling and interpreting received data and material into helpful information for numerous Romulan government and military personnel.
Once settled in, Missions Captain VorKrieg dispenses with most of the "See and Say" platform, as he calls it, and gets the computer to unlock the hands-on control panel, which in appearance could rival many big bands' video/audio control panel complexities. [Computer] "You are granted Administrator Level." VorKrieg unlocks the massive Control Panel.
"Load all segments of The Isles from the monitoring station in this governmental and military installation." [Each operation does take time, ranging from moments to several minutes, depending upon complexity. VorKrieg has been turning and still turns multiple dials, adjusts multiple slide handles, and quick-reads various analogs and digital.] "Merge, combine, all repeats. Keep all audio in separate tracks, accompanying the videos."
"Load Romulan, Vulcan, and Qo'NoS (Kronos) sentient beings parameters."
"Load known parameters of sentient beings within Federation of United Planets." He, while constantly adjusting dials & slide handles, issues a variety of commands/requests: Hypothesize, extrapolate, extract, estimate, combine [a few times], and so on.
Monitoring stations use a relatively large number of interrogative and reporting radiates, audio, visual, thermal; radar & sonar [when applicable]; lasers [red, green, blue - which interrogate and report], along with other passive and assertive scanners & reporters. Monitoring stations are set up and maintained everywhere Portals are discovered. Spatial/Temporal portals exist as anomalies, worm-holes, jump-gates, temporary or permanent, stationary or mobile.
The collected information, over time, leads to the development, maintenance, improving numerous radiate shields with various strengths, features, and benefits, along with their respective drawbacks, problems, and limitations.
Also, the collected information, over time, leads to providing needed short-term and long-term material, location, and security to the numerous discovered sentient beings.
He carefully studies the various "on-screen printouts" - looking for possibilities missed by the earlier reception reading, viewing, and interpreting the monitoring station's material of The Isles. Over time, he has collected bits and pieces of numerous other Portal entries from all over the Quadrant.
Putting all the recent data reports together, VorKrieg concluded that more than video and audio came through the Portal. Perhaps beginning almost two years ago would be EarthPrime January-February 2020.
"Computer, open a channel from Romulan Defense/Neutral Zone to United Planets Defense/Neutral Zone." [It took a little time to open a sub-space long-distance channel. Computer] "Channel open."
"Science Officer Delmar here. Good to hear from you, Captain VorKrieg! What's on your mind today?"
VorKrieg: "Assuming you have reviewed your monitoring station's The Isles records, what is your take?"
Delmar: "The apparent Amity-Luce 'Yuri-Relationship/Power-Combine', as some would say, is an internal matter, no worry to us."
VorKrieg: "Any head-strong/power-strong Combine coming through any of our Portals - our respective Alpha/Delta OPs teams certainly can add this to their busy plates."
Delmar: "Also, it looks like BellowFellow painted himself a military target. If he enters our universe, a single anomaly shot would probably cease that activity. My best-educated guess is my prediction: The overwhelming majority of United Planet vessels and Alliance vessels would shrug off any spell-castings protected by Spatial-Temporal-Anomaly shields. Some of the older non-shielded vessels could sustain some relatively minor damage."
"Thanks for confirming the conclusion that I arrived at earlier."
" VorKrieg out." "Delmar out."
VorKrieg pondered and meditated for quite a while, and some more questions arose in his mind. He wrote down some more cumulative queries and thoughts. Finally, about one hour later, he shut down the system, locked the door, and began moving through specific hallways.
Exiting the office building, he walked to the on-base apartment building.
He was likely to have one of the newest and most fascinating conversations.
Once inside the on-base apartment building, he made his way to one of the many commons and gathering areas. Vrybrih (naturally gifted and driven) and Ariende (acquirer of skills) greeted VorKrieg. [Both ladies are in their middle 50s.] Long ago, an Idea descended upon many, very likely from somewhere: Listen carefully to understand others before having others listen carefully to understand you.
Preserve and Protect Lives and Cultures. Rather than the old ways, they certainly have helped to let freedom grow, which segued into the discussion concerning how The Isles altered thoughts, concepts, beliefs, and actions.
"Captain VorKrieg, you have come to understand?"
"Yes, I have come to listen fully and to understand comprehensively."
Vrybrih: "Transmissions from The Isles certainly broke new ground among many within EarthPrime. I do not know how much influence such had within Romulus, let alone within this Quadrant of our [alternate] universe."
Ariende: "The scenes of youngsters getting along so well - resonated with us. We wondered if we adults could do likewise."
Vrybrih: "What took them a few Earth years finally to daehlenma (friendship)."
Vrybrih: "It was not until recently we achieved nhraianna (bonded). What we did earlier is not at all similar within EarthPrime. We are not sure what is and is not within the United Planets area of this Quadrant."
Ariende: "Obviously, we go beyond girl and girl. Had we been young Other, we likely would have gone beyond boy and boy. We go beyond woman and woman, and had we been adult Other, of course, we would have gone beyond man and man."
Vrybrih: "In fact, go beyond girl and boy, woman and man - a soul within a body cooperating, collaborating, working, playing, communicating, communing, with another soul within another body."
Ariende: "Two souls, two minds, over time, bonding together, developing purpose, mission, goals, action plans."
Ariende: "Until both are willing to die for or with one another, perhaps they cannot fully live for or with one another."
Vrybrih: "Be not overly concerned for us, Captain, we are Romulans, and we can only be but Romulans."
Ariende: "The planet's flag and shield certainly play their part."
Vrybrih: "Do you remember when transmissions came from EarthPrime in which the Copy Sets labeled: "'Civil Equalization, an Egalitarian Idea'?"
VorKrieg: "I was a bit younger then; however, I do remember the internal struggles Romulus had as numerous political and social camps had major arguments, debates, discussions, and so on."
Ariende: "While race, creed, color, ethnicity - was never a problem on Romulus, many common citizens believed there were problems with the egalitarianism of people and position within the government and within the military. The desire for common people, their positions in life, to become equal and remain equal with the government and the military."
Vrybrih: "Those transmissions mentioned a government inculcating much more 'Civil' and 'Voting' rights. The universe may pass out minds equally; however, many places still pass out opportunities unequally."
Ariende: "The Government, over time, became much more 'We The People' and much less autocratic."
VorKrieg: "I recall hearing that in another Quadrant, a great leader remodeled their Council; once finished, it was two from the religious group, two from the military group, five from the workers' group. I believe our Romulan Government did similar - the People, the Worker Groups, now have majority control."
Vrybrih: "What has happened, what is happening, met with some resistance under the Old Government."
VorKrieg: "Military, as well as national and local Policing Agencies, were given new purpose, new mission, new goals, and action plans followed: Preserve and Protect, lives and cultures respectively. We are not the only ones doing that. I suspect The Creator is more pleased with Live and Let Live than many older ways."
Vrybrih: "The Creator gave us the ability to have children."
Vrybrih: "If memory serves me, which it usually does, I recall a transmission from EarthPrime, a great leader in a large nation spoke of his dream, which included children of all colors and backgrounds sitting, working, playing, etc., side by side."
Ariende: "We printed two frames, pictures, from The Isles, one of which showed a few youngsters gathered in a living room, sitting on a couch, having tea or some brew. The other shows the two leads, side by side, viewing a projection on a wall."
Vrybrih: "Ariende and I have borrowed an Old Idea; we began naming our assigned vessels Amitainya and Luzceska, Romulan names, a salute to the two main people in The Isles. Some government on EarthPrime uses 'Air Force One [plane] or Marine One [helicopter] when the Main Leader is aboard." [Actually, the US President. 'Air Force Two' and 'Marine Two' when the US Vice-President is aboard.]
VorKrieg: "Planets Federation has places that are becoming unstable - for a variety of reasons, some of them from the Portals. The Creator has offered sentient beings ' freedom of our choice'; however, 'consequences are not - our choice'."
VorKrieg: "We will be in the only three medical and rescue vessels."
Ariende: "I hope there is no significant conflict; such conflict always goes rather severely for all participants. I sometimes hoped movies' fiction of Invisibility Cloak would be a reality in our universe. No matter, we can only prepare ourselves to face whatever comes.
VorKrieg: "May I join-You two? If Darkness is to come, let us step into It together. Can Darkness be avoided? I believe I recall something from a movie segment: '...Sometimes God indicates no.'"
Pivoting, Vrybrih and Ariende stand face to face with VorKrieg, with Kolinahr welling up within them, with quiet determination, spoke.
Ariende: "Qo'NoS Symbol: Duty, Loyalty, Sacrifice, and Honor. Our old symbol stood for Military Might and Honor, which included Civilian Pride for all of that. The Vulcan symbol: philosophy of equality often stated as Infinite Diversity in Infinite Combinations."
Vrybrih: "What stands before you now are two Romulans, Ariende and Vrybrih - daehlenma (friendship) and nhraianna (bonded). Cooperation, Collaboration, Perseverance (Endurance), Honor. Willing to Sacrifice - let our People and their Children of Romulus continue to be free."
Ariende: "Our present Flag and Symbol and Shield proclaims-" [pauses]
Vrybrih: "-Duty, Loyalty, Sacrifice, Strength, Endurance, Honor."
VorKrieg: "Ariende, Captain of the vessel you nicknamed the Luzceska, Vrybrih, Captain of the vessel you nicknamed the Amitainya, please give me the honor of having both of you accompany me on this journey. And on all following journeys. Romulus gives us Purpose, Mission, Goals, and our orders. As Mordok, when living, had done for so many, let that Mantle be yours from this day forward."
Each boarded their respective vessel, buckled in, gave appropriate orders, and prepared themselves and their separate crews for The Journey. Then, with thunderclaps, each vessel's quantum singularity engine roared into life. Soon the everyday sounds are heard inside the vessels and outside in the atmosphere.
The D'deridex II-class vessels slowly cleared the launching area. Then, picking up speed, they moved, with precision, in unison, with VorKrieg slightly in front, onward, forward, to their destination. [Some records suggest this vessel averaged 700 yards long and 500 yards wide.] In this universe, Romulus has numerous classes of vessels of different sizes, many if not most silver-gray, blue-gray, and not many military-green.
Qo'NoS (Kronos) never asks for permission to go anywhere, anytime. They only lead and never follow any non-Qo'NoS vessel nor anything else.
About halfway there, a communique crackles into view.
"Romulan Vessel, Captain VorKrieg! Ambassador VorTuk here. Indeed good to see you - and the others! Request permission to have four of our newest captains join your group."
A little surprised, VorKrieg: "Permission granted, of course, Ambassador, we welcome your newest group."
The four fell in behind the three, bringing the total to seven.
One of the four escorts, monitoring civilian/government channels, opened another channel. "Captains, we intercepted a message that may interest you. Forwarding it to you now."
The partial piece played back:
"[interference]...Romulan Government to [interference] Senior Missions Captain VorKrieg [interference] Senior Captain Ariende of Vessel Luzceska, Senior Captain Vrybrih of Vessel Amitainya [interference]." Some voice from somewhere: "Acknowledged."
[It is believed that long ago on EarthPrime, during a costly Civil War, Abraham Lincoln's generals sometimes first saw their orders in the press. Even in this universe, sometimes, albeit not often, news can arrive from unofficial sources.]
All seven vessels continued on their way.
