Chapter 16. Friday Night Dinner. Part 1.
They arrived back at the house about 25 minutes later and still no words had been spoken between them. Logan parked the car and they both got out from the car. They looked at each other and instead of speaking Rory grabbed Logan's hand and held onto it.
"I'm sorry for my parents Ace." Logan told her while looking at her.
"It is not your fault, it's my grandparents whom couldn't keep the news that we're back together to them selfs." Rory told him.
"Yeah I know but still, I can't believe that after all these years they still think that we don't belong together." Logan told her while sitting down on the park bench.
"I don't know why it's so hard for them to see that me and you do belong together and we always have." Rory told him while kissing him on the cheek.
"I love you so much Ace." Logan told her while kissing her on her mouth.
"I love you too Logan." Rory told him while returning the kiss.
"So do you still want to go to your grandparents tonight for Friday night dinner?" Logan asked her.
"To be honest I'm not really up for it but maybe we should anyways."Rory answered him honestly.
"Then Friday night dinner with Emily and Richard it is."Logan announced.
"Urgh, you are so going to make this up to me."Rory told him while gently hitting him on his chest.
"What? It's not my grandparents." Logan told her while laughing.
"No but it's your fault that they invited us."Rory told him while smiling.
"Why, because I'm so irresistible huh?" Logan asked her while using his puppy eyes.
"You could say that yes." Rory answered him while kissing him on his cheek.
After a few minutes they decided to go inside and luckily for them both Lorelai and Christopher were out. They walked into the kitchen.
"Want something to drink?"Rory asked him while opening the fridge.
"Just some sparkling water." Logan answered her while sitting down at the table.
Suddenly Logan's phone buzzed, he grabbed it from his pocket and saw he had gotten a text from Finn.
"Hey man, are you and reporter girl free tomorrow night?" ~ Finn
"Ace, Finn wonders if we're free tomorrow night?" Logan asked her.
"Sure, I'd love to meet up with Finny while we're here." Rory answered him.
"Great I'll tell him." Logan told her.
He began typing.
"Sure, we're free tomorrow night, did you have something in mind?" ~ Logan.
"Actually yes, I thought it would be great gathering everyone and meet up for dinner and drinks." ~ Finn.
"That sounds like a great idea man, just the four of us?"~ Logan.
"Yes of course. Well maybe Colin will join." ~ Finn.
"We're in, btw I didn't know you where back in New York." Logan.
"Me and Rosemary got back just a few days ago." ~ Finn.
"Then we'll see you tomorrow, text me the details?" ~ Logan.
"Of course man, give my love to Rory." ~ Finn.
Logan put down his phone and looked at Rory.
"We should get ready, we need to be at my grandparents in two hours." Rory told him while standing up.
"Yes we should, btw when are your parents getting back?" Logan asked her.
"They should be back in 30 minutes." Rory answered him.
Rory walked into her bedroom and started to looking for something to wear for the dinner.
She couldn't get what Honor had told her out of her mind. She debated on whether she should tell Logan what Honor had said, or if she shouldn't. She was interrupted by Logan putting his hands on her shoulders.
"Where are your mind at Ace?" Logan asked her while kissing her on her neck.
"It's nothing, it's just something Honor said while we where over there for lunch." Rory answered him honestly.
"What did she say this time?" Logan asked her while getting worried.
"She just told me a little about how awful you were doing after we broke up, and in a way I can't help but think that it's mostly my fault." Rory answered him honestly.
"Ace, that was 8,5 years ago and I finally have you back in my life. It is not your fault, I thought we were in a different place in our relationship than we were." Logan told her while spinning her around and looked into her eyes.
"Yeah but still, I can't help but think what could have been if I had said yes." Rory told him while grabbing his hand.
"Well neither can I but that was then and this is now. We have started fresh again and I couldn't be more lucky to have you back." Logan told her while kissing her on the mouth.
20 minutes after Rory had gotten dressed, they walked out from the house and towards the car where Christopher and Lorelai stood waiting.
"Finally you're ready." Lorelai told them laughing.
"Yes I know." Rory told Lorelai while getting into the car.
20 minutes later they arrived outside Emily and Richard's house. As they've getting out from the car, Rory took a deep breath.
"Are you ready ace?" Logan asked her while grabbing her hand.
"As ready as I'll ever be." Rory answered him while walking up to the door.
"Here goes nothing." Lorelai said while ringing the doorbell.
A few seconds later, the new maid Emily had hired opened the door.
"Good evening, may I take your coats?" The maid asked.
"Hello, Lorelai, Christopher, Rory and Logan reporting as requested." Lorelai joked while taking of her coat and handed it to the maid.
"Seriously Lorelai, we didn't make you come we simply just invited you and you could have said no."Emily said while walking into the room.
"Emily, you look wonderful as always." Logan told Emily while kissing her on the cheek.
Lorelai looked at him with a thankful look.
"Always a gentleman Logan." Emily told him.
"Hello grandma, how are you?" Rory asked Emily in a casual way.
"I'm fine, let me have a look at you." Emily answered her while looking at Rory.
"Where is grandpa?" Rory asked her while looking around for Richard.
"He is in his study, finishing some business." Emily answered her.
"Emily, how are you?" Christopher asked Emily while kissing her cheek."
"I'm good, how about you Christopher? How's Straub and Francine?" Emily answered him.
"I'm fine,mom and dad are good ." Christopher told her.
They all walked into the living room and sat down on the couches."
"So Logan, how are Mitchum and Shira?" Emily asked Logan.
"Mom and dad are fine." Logan answered her.
Suddenly Richard walked into the room.
"I'm sorry for being late, I had some business to attend to." Richard told them.
"It's fine dad, how are you?" Lorelai asked him while hugging him.
"I'm great, just a lot to do at the office."Richard answered her while hugging her back.
"Richard, it's been a while." Logan told him while shaking his hand.
"It has been quite a while my boy, how's business?" Richard answered him while shaking his hand back.
"Business is better than ever." Logan told him.
"Grandpa, how are you?" Rory asked Richard while hugging him."
"I'm fine Rory, it's been too long." Richard answered her while hugging her back.
15 minutes later they moved from the living room and into the dining room.
"Rory, what's the matter with you? Ever since you got here, you have been nothing but quiet." Emily asked Rory while drinking her wine.
"I'm just upset with you and grandpa for telling Shira and Mitchum that me and Logan were back together. It wasn't your place to tell." Rory answered her honestly.
"It shouldn't have been kept a secret in the first place." Emily stated.
"Yes because it was mine and Logan's secret to tell." Rory told her while getting more upset.
"Mom, you shouldn't have told them, it was their secret to tell not your and dads." Lorelai told Emily while defending Rory.
"You knew how both Shira and Mitchum feels about me, everything Mitchum and Shira has done in the past and you go and tell them." Rory said while now getting really upset.
Logan grabbed her hand and tried to help her calm down. He could see that she was hurt about what Emily and Richard had done.
