Chapter I: The Prophecy, Confrontation and Revelation

The Great Hall of Hogwarts was loud during dinner the night before Samhain, which was the night that the veil between the mortal and spirit realms was thinnest. It was supposed to be a night of reflection and rememberance of those who had passed on. But in this day and age, Samhain and all of its traditions had been laid by the wayside and slowly but surely forgotten or twisted.

Now, Samhain was known as Halloween wherein little children dressed up in costumes and went house to house for candy and various treats. But for one member of the House of Gryffindor in Hogwarts, Harry Potter, Halloween was a day of sadness as thirteen years prior he lost his parents Lily and James Potter to Lord Voldemort, the Dark Lord of Britain.

Ever since learning about the true history of Halloween as a child before entering Hogwarts, he liked the holiday in its ancient form of Samhain, with its traditional placement of a place setting for the lost family member and the toasting of the lost member as a way to remember them.

To further his research, Harry had in the weeks leading up to his first Halloween/Samhain in the magical world looked up the various deities in Celtic mythology. He found two that interested him the most. The first was the Horned God and the second was the Lady of Ravens.

The Horned God, was the Lord of Forests and Harry felt a connection with this diety more so not because of Samhain but because of his stag patronus. The Stag, according to an ancient and dusty tome found in the restricted section of the library, was known in ancient times as the King Stag and was sacred to the ancient peoples of Britain and was known to portend the coming of a Defender to Britain as in times past.

The Lady of Ravens on the other hand was known as the Raven of Battle and toured various bloody battefields. Her sacred animal was the crow. To call upon her was to be victorious in battle but sometimes it came with a terrible price.

That first Halloween/Samhain had fell short of Harry's expectations. There was no traditional place settings nor was there any rememberance of those who died in defense of the magical world especially Harry's parents, which made him heartbroken and disgusted with both his fellow students and his professors as they laughed and conversed with their classmates or collegues while tearing into sugar laced foods.

This "tradition" had continued in second year and third year. But this year, Harry was going to stand up not only for himself but for the spirits of his parents and those who sacrificed themselves for the magical world.

Harry was emmensley thankful of the house elves in the kitchen the past three years as they helped him celebrate the holiday the true way and in turn Harry felt stronger for it as he followed the traditions of the ancient people in the ways of Samhain.

This in turn had strengthened his magic allowing it to become denser which made it stronger. Harry had found out last year that dragons were the most magically resistant to spells which meant that multiple witches and wizards had to band together to subdue a single dragon.

How this piece of information related to Harry was that since he had participated in the eight Celtic holidays which were Imbolc on February first which marked the beginning of Spring, the Spring Equinox on March twentieth, Beltane on May first, the Summer Equinox on June twenty first, Lughnasadh on August eighth which marked the beginning of harvest season, Samhain on October thirty first and finally the Winter Solstice on December twenty first over the last three years, Harry's magic was as strong as his professors.

He was certain that if he continued to follow up with tomorrow nights ritual and the other seven holidays till his seventeenth birthday, then his magic would at the outset be as strong as a dragons just prior to his magical majority which according to research would gift him with a bloodline gift from his father's bloodline.

Harry was pulled from his reflections of the past by how silent it was as it seemed everyone in the hall had turned to avidly stare at the head table, specifically at Professor Trelawney, who was the professor of Divination. To Harry's surprise and utter horror, the frazzle haired woman who wore several shawls and had large black glasses that made her eyes seem larger than normal, had begun to shake and rock back and forth as her eyes rolled into the back of her head and her mouth opened and she began speaking in a deep voice.

"When the Hunt rides, an ancient chalice shall alight.

Choosing four through trickery most foul, Sowilo shall stand fast.

Thus uncovering his true origins under the Lord and Lady.

From the chalice shall five ride forth, through time and mists to rise above misconception.

Six shall return instead. Lion, Raven, Badger and Serpent shall step forth calling all to stand.

Entwined together as one, bound by the sacred dragon and the Great Marriage, the Merlin and the Defender of Britain shall come forth.

Wielding the Swords From The Stars, shall their purpose be known.

To stand against the rising Darkness and to slay it.

For from the Merlin and the Defender shall a bloodline be reborn returning the Misty Isle to its home."

The Divination Professor intoned before gasping and seeming to come around from her prophetic fit. The students began to chatter to each other as Harry slowly paled as he came to the realization that tomorrow he would be chosen as the fourth champion.

Harry took a deep breath and slowly released it. Harry, who was sitting at the end of the Gryffindor table close to the Great Hall doors, put his hands into his lap under the table and closed his eyes in concentration and gathered his magic into his hands and released the magic which caused those around him to forget that he was there and he casually got up from the table and left the room for the seventh floor and the Room of Requirement that he had found in first year to not only have space but used it to conduct his holiday rites.

As he neared the Room, he released his glamours that hid his features and his clothing from prying eyes. The glamours had the added benefit of concealing his rite fueled dense magic from both student and professor alike and had the glamour mimic his pre rite magic of those first few weeks in Hogwarts before that first Halloween.

Now he was wearing dark blue robes and his hair was bound in braided cornrows that were braided into each other. Unbound, Harry's hair would have reached his shoulders and been smooth and silky not the short and messy birds nest the entire magical world knew him for. His scrawny and thin body was now muscled and bronzed. Harry now stood at six feet tall as opposed to his glamoured five foot nine inches.

As Harry approached the wall hiding the Room of Requirement, the unassuming door appeared and Harry opened the door with a slight wave of his hand and entered the room. The door leading to the room vanished just as the door closed as was Harry's intention to keep the denizens of the castle ignorant of his growing ability and power. After all, misdirection and subterfuge were Harry's ultimate weapons against both Dumbledore and Voldemort and those that followed them.

The inside of the room looked like a forest clearing with a bright Hunter's Moon shining silver light into the clearing.

As he neared the center of the clearing, he knelt swift and sure as a figure appeared before him from the shadows of the rooms false forest. The figure was extremely tall, towering over the kneeling Harry.

"My Lord." Harry murmured.

"So, young Merlin. You've returned. What ails you this night before the thinning veil?" The figure asked.

Harry looked up at the figure whose eyes were both forest green and golden amber. "My Lord, a prophecy was spoken this night. About the event that is happening this year. It's disgusting that the magicals would dishonor the festival night but to put the drawing of the champions on such a night is the ultimate slight." Harry explained.

"I see." The figure replied. "So what do you intend to do."

"I intend to take over their precious selection and make them face their errors." Harry said.

"Then go and bring honor to the lost. Remind these magicals what it means to slight those higher than them." The figure said, it's heterochromatic eyes glinting in anger.

"As you command." Harry replied as he stood and left the room, never knowing that as he did so, a second figure appeared next to the first.

"Are you sure he's up for the task?" the female figure asked as she turned to look at her companion and in the light of the moon, revealed pale white skin covered in black cloth and raven feathers.

"I'm sure. He is after all our blood." The male figure said as the moonlight revealed a heavy rack of antlers upon his head and a forehead down to the bridge of his nose covered in dark blue.

"But we both know that our time as mortals has ended. But it is welcoming to see him grow as he has fighting against what we ourselves fell against." The female figure replied.

"True. But for now we can only watch and wait till the calling." The male said.

"I understand. But know this, my love, I did not sacrifice everything just to see him and not embrace him." The woman said as she vanished in a swirl of feathers and a ravens cry, leaving her companion to his thoughts.

Meanwhile, Harry walked the halls, reglamoured. He knew deep down that in twenty four hours everything would change.

Everything needed to be changed.

Harry suddenly felt as if something or someone had wrapped their arms around him. For the first time, Harry could say that he felt unburdened. He walked back to Gryffindor Tower steeling his resolve for what was about to happen.

For their time of judgement was coming as the minutes turned into hours and as day turned into night and the Great Hall found itself the center of history both good and bad.

It was almost time...

Just a few more moments and justice would be had.

Harry watched hidden in the shadows of the entrance hall as the flames in the ancient Goblet of Fire slowly lost their yellow-orange glow in place of a blue-black color. That was Harry's signal. Harry walked forward clad in his blue cloak and his body unglamoured. He unleashed his magic which caused those he passed by to flinch and shiver.

As he approached the Goblet, Dumbledore moved in front of it with his wand in hand, slightly raised. "Who are you to interrupt the Champions Selection?" The old man asked. Harry raised his hand and waved it as if getting rid of a fly and to the shock of the room, Dumbledore lost his long white beard and his mouth as well. Because all there was on the old man's head was his two blue eyes and his nose. Where his mouth would have been was just blank skin. The other professors, visiting heads and ministry officials were standing behind him wands raised, Harry knew this but had ignored them. Harry turned and looked at everyone in the great hall and asked a simple question.

"What is tonight supposed to be?"

Many of the students and professors looked at each other and some shouted, "Halloween!"

Harry shook his head. "Wrong answer! Tonight is not about the Triwizard Tournament as many of you are no doubt thinking, nor is it about Halloween. No, tonight is Samhain! A night of celebration to celebrate those who have passed on. In the weeks leading up to tonight in my first year, I researched what tonight truly means, then upon the night of Samhain in my first year I walked into the Great Hall expecting to see place settings set out and hear Professor Dumbledore speak about those lost. But, instead I found myself disgusted and disappointed as I saw student and professor alike eating sugary food and drink without a care for the true tradition tonight brings." Harry explained.

Both students and professors looked down in shame at what the man was saying. In the back of their minds they wondered who this man was to know such things. He obviously was older than the seventh years.

"To this day, I have celebrated the eight Celtic holidays year after year and because of this, my magic is denser and more powerful than my year mates. To you, tonight would be partying and celebrating the champions of the tournament. But to me, tonight is about loss." Harry continued as he saw many of the students look away or down at their table.

"Edgar and Emma Bones, Gideon and Fabian Prewett, Frank and Alice Longbottom, Marlene McKinnon and her family, and Lily and James Potter among many countless others gave their lives so that you their sons, daughters, nieces and nephews could come to learn about your magic without fear. But, year after year you who are their family have dishonored their memory and sacrifice by sitting in this hall on this night stuffing your faces and laughing without a care in the world or thinking about the ones whose sacrifice allows you to sit here in this hall. It stops tonight!" Harry said as he glared at the occupants of the hall, some of which had tears falling down their cheeks.

Harry turned to the Goblet whose blue-black flames were flickering and pulled back his sleeve to reveal his forearm and to the shock and horror of the room, thrust his arm into the flames. "Ultra velum voco eos qui in hac nocte sacriti sunt coram nobis apprentes in sacrificio perditi." Harry cried out.

The Great Hall darkened and suddenly everyone jumped as the doors to the castle were flung open and two cloaked figures strode into the hall surrounded by silver-white apparitions. The cloaked figures walked towards Harry as the apparitions floated behind them. As they did so many of the Hogwarts students cried out as they recognized many of the ghosts.

The two cloaked figures soon stood before the Goblet and Harry who was still cloaked and hooded. "Who summons the restful dead?" One of them asked, who was a male by the tone of voice.

"Why?" asked the second, who was female.

"Because, My Lord and Lady, they have dishonored the dead by not celebrating their lost loved ones and remembering why they sacrificed their lives." Harry replied.

"What of you?" The male figure asked.

"Me? I know what my loved ones sacrificed themselves for and have celebrated it without fail since I entered this school." Harry said.

"We know and thank you for it." the female figure said as she and her male companion drew down their hood to reveal for the male, a head of black hair that had leaves and from his hair line was a set of antlers. His eyes and nose covered in blue. The female figure had creamy white skin with a black dress covered in feathers. Her green eyes glittering.

Harry gasped. He recognized them. Cernunnos and Cathubodva. The Lord of Forests and the Lady of Ravens. The smiled at him as he lowered his head. Cernunnos reached out to Harry and pulled down his blue hood, finally revealing to the Great Hall, who he was. The occupants of the hall both foreign and domestic were stunned at the revelation of the cloaked figure.

Cernunnos then reached out to Harry's face and made up look up at them. "You least of all need not turn away from us, little Merlin." Cernunos said.

"Why?" Harry asked them confused.

In response the god and goddess looked at each other nodded and their forms suddenly blurred and slowly reformed. Cernunnos' blue painted face and antlers melted away to reveal messy black hair and hazel eyes. Cathubodva's black hair and creamy skin melted away as well revealing bright red hair and tanned skin. Her eyes brightened as if they became jewels.

Harry froze in shock as standing before him were James and Lily Potter...

Woah! Did anyone see THAT coming?!

I hope everyone liked the confrontation/revelation scene. But said scene isn't over.

To DZ2: If you can find my hidden Easter Egg, I'll use any reasonable and well thought out suggestion you come up with in this fic. PM me the suggestions. Here's a hint: you've used this before in your writing and its come up in a HP spin off movie.

Chapter II: The Champions Rising and Leaving Hogwarts

As the students, staff and their lost loved ones watch on, the Goblet does something odd. It selects the champions but forces five people to leave the hallowed grounds of Hogwarts.

Just who are the five people meant to leave Hogwarts?

Who are the Champions selected?
