My date was hot, but I was way hotter. Like, on fire. My wine red dress drew attention to my streamlined body and with a little help from a well fitted bra, even my chest didn't look too flat but rather cute and perky. I wasn't all that into my date, he was a nice guy, handsome, one of the sports captains but it went nowhere beyond a current physical relationship and I had every intention of getting laid tonight. First things first, I need to find Allison and Lydia to see what was going on with them. Also, I need to find Jackson so I can punch him on the nose and hopefully break it. Not only did he break my best friend's heart, but he'd come to the dance with Allison as if to try and hurt her more.
Of course, Allison went with him just as friends and I knew damn well that she was hoping that Scott McCall would show up for her, so I had my fingers crossed for her. The dance was okay, I guess, but not the best. At least the music wasn't half bad. My date spotted his friends and yelled to them, grinning stupidly and dashing off to tackle them roughly like guys did, leaving me to strut inside and search for people. I saw Jackson and Allison first over by the drinks table, the dork pouring alcohol into his cup and other's. Licking my lips with a malicious smirk, I sashayed my way right over there, integrating myself into the little circle of Jackson, Danny and some other guy from the lacrosse team, Allison standing off to the side looking around. "Jackson." I greeted with fake sweetness, hand on my hip as he shot me a look.
"Cordelia." With a quirk of my eyebrow, I turned smartly and lifted my foot which was currently clad in a six inch stiletto heel, rolling my ankle before stomping it down onto Jackson's foot as I kept my back facing him, listening to him choke down his pain and grip onto the table for support as he tried his utmost to not make a scene as not to be caught with alcohol in his hand.
"Danny." Now with a softer and far more sincere voice, I reached up my hands to begin dusting at Danny's shoulders and straightening his tie, enjoying the fact that behind me Jackson was losing the feeling in his right foot.
"Cordy." Danny responded in kind, smiling sweetly down at me as I took a deep breath of his scent and fluttered my eyelashes at him.
"Is that Armani?" He confirmed it, still smiling and also enjoying Jackson's pain behind me. "Hm…my favourite. You are just so delicious Danny I could eat you up right here and now. Are you sure you won't consider coming over to play for my team?" I hinted at him, putting all my charm and flirtatious attitude as I ground my heel into Jackson's foot a little more.
"Sorry, but I'm afraid I'm still swinging for the other side, but like always if I ever change my mind, I'll call you first Cordy." Glad that our banter was still up to speed, I grinned and took my foot off of Jackson so that I could rise up and kiss Danny's cheek with all sweetness and sugar as Jackson growled under his breath.
"What the hell is your problem?!" Shooting him a look whilst wondering if he was an idiot for being unable to work it out, I rolled my eyes.
"Because you hurt Lydia, you jerk-off. I'm just glad she's finally rid of a self-absorbed asshole like you." Maybe I should break his nose, but something told me if I hit Jackson in the face, not only would I end up hurting my hand but he would have his father sue me for assault. I think I'll pass for now, I don't want to break a nail. However, there was just one more thing I wanted to clear up. I got real close to Jackson, sliding my hands up his arms as I leaned into his ear to talk, wanting him to feel utterly powerless against me. "And if you even think about hurting Allison, or upsetting her, or using her, then I swear to god I will end you and take away everything that is important to you. Image, reputation, even your car. I will destroy you until you don't even have a toe to stand on."
With my warning effectively conveyed, I stepped on his toes one last time before sauntering off, shooting Allison a wink as she frowned at me in bewilderment. Maybe I was wrong, this party is actually kind of fun. I'm having the time of my life here. Going in search for my date I dragged him out onto the dance floor to dance, lacing my body around him and pulling his hands to rest upon my hips. It was fun and all, the tight fit of hormonal teenagers dancing all around us, each infecting the other with the loose freedom of adolescence, bodies pressed against one another until suddenly we all heard Coach Finstock shouting across the gym, drawing attention towards him as he pushed his way through the crowds of dancing students.
"McCall! I see you!" Now this is also interesting, guess McCall made it here after all. That kid was so hopelessly in love it was almost tragic. With coach pushing his way through, chasing after McCall, I pulled away from my date in order to sidle up to Allison who was practically beaming from ear to ear.
"Looks like you've found yourself a keeper there Ali." I said to her as I folded my arms and watched McCall grab hold of Danny in order to dance with him and throw Coach off his game. Everyone was now staring at him as Coach found him, telling him that he wasn't supposed to be here, but of course, that could easily be twisted into a homophobic comment. He was mortified, realising his predicament too late and hastily began to backtrack. "Seems to me McCall is willing to do anything in order to win you back. Lucky girl." Smiling to myself as Allison just stood there grinning like an idiot, I slipped away in order to return to my date, dancing a slow dance with him.
By the end of the song I was getting a little warm and thirsty so I sent my date to go get me a drink whilst I headed out to the school parking lot so I could get some fresh air. My breath turned white as I exhaled, really wishing I had picked out a jacket to go with my dress as I pulled my hair away from my neck in order to cool it, stepping aside so that the latecomers could go in. I rubbed my fingers into the crook, rolling my head to stretch a little before looking up and noticing a figure coming through the trees.
It looked odd, and as I squinted I began to see the figure was a guy and he seemed to be carrying something in his arms but it was too dark to tell. Frowning, I started to descend the steps, walking towards the person who was rushing forwards but when he yelled, my heart skipped a beat and all of sudden, horror was coursing through my veins. "Help me! Somebody help! Help me, get help please!"
"Jackson!" I raced forwards the rest of the way as people started to scream but I pushed through, shoving one girl so hard she fell on her butt but I didn't care, because now that Jackson was closer to the light, I could see a flash of strawberry blonde hair and the splattering of blood covering a once pristine dress. "Lydia!" My scream was sharp and painful to the ear as I dropped to the ground and grabbed hold of her hand, already beginning to cry as she lay motionless in Jackson's arms as his legs gave out underneath him. "Lydia? Lydia please, open your eyes. Open your eyes Lydia!" I leaned in and listened for breath and a heartbeat, thankfully both were present so I smeared away the tears in order to try and focus. "Somebody call nine-one-one! Jackson, Jackson pick her up, we have to get her inside…Brett! Brett help me!"
My date was suddenly beside me, having come closer to see what was happening and thankfully, he still had the common sense to pick Lydia up and carry her into the warm. I dragged Jackson in after me, demanding to know what had happened but he was so out of it that he didn't even hear me so I slapped him full in the face, screaming at him in the process. "God damn it Jackson what happened to Lydia?!"
"I…I don't know…I just found her…she was bleeding…" Fat lot of help you are. Shaking my head I began to put pressure on the wound on her arm which was still bleeding, getting blood all over my dress and hands as Brett took off his jacket and placed it over Lydia as the teachers came running. After that I just went through the motions of everything that was happening around me. The night ended early and Lydia was taken to the hospital with me holding her hand all the while, sobbing like a baby as she refused to wake up even after the paramedics had given her some treatment.
She seemed to keep on going into shock, body convulsing and every time she did so I panicked, sobbing harder and pleading with her to just be alright. Somehow, everything else just didn't seem to matter anymore. At some point I recalled Allison at the dance so I tried to call her, wanting her to know what had happened but she wasn't answering her phone so I left at least a dozen messages, barely able to speak through my constant shaking and tears as my heart seemed to have moved from its chest cavity to make a permanent residence in my throat.
I waited as they hurried Lydia into the ER, stumbling along after her until a nurse caught my shoulders to stop me. "Hey, hey you can't go in there. You're going to have to wait out here." It was McCall's mom, Melissa. She spoke to me gently but firmly, making sure I knew that I couldn't follow Lydia in but as I saw the doors closed after her, I broke down again. Melissa hushed me gently, stroking my hair and calming me down as she brought me to a seat in order to wait for the prognosis, even going to her locker to fetch her cardigan for me to wear and bringing me a cup of tea to help settle my nerves.
I barely touched it but thanked her for taking the time to help me, sniffling away as I rubbing my mascara stained eyes, waiting. Eventually they brought her into a private room but I still wasn't allowed in because of her unstable condition, so I continued to wait, praying that she would be okay. "Where is she?" Hearing Jackson's voice I lifted my head, blinking as I watched him come striding into the hospital and immediately set his sight on Lydia, staring through the window into her room as she lay there utterly still.
"Hey. Hey!" Suddenly the sheriff was there, facing up to Jackson and eyeballing him darkly. "What the hell happened to that girl?"
"I-I don't know. I went out looking for her and…"
"What, you just happened to wander into the middle of that field and you just found her there like that? Don't lie to me, son."
"No, I…" Without warning the sheriff suddenly grabbed Jackson by his expensive suit and slammed him against the wall, making me yelp and jump up instinctively, spilling some of my hot tea over my hand but I completely disregarded it as the sheriff yelled.
"Hey! What happened to her?"
"This isn't my fault!"
"She's your girlfriend! That's your responsibility!"
"No, she's not, okay? She didn't go to the formal with me." Pausing for a moment in confusion, Sheriff Stilinski backed off a little as I cautiously made my way over, timidly reaching out to touch Jackson's hand to see that he was okay as the sheriff asked who'd taken Lydia to the dance if not Jackson. "Do you really wanna know? She went with Stiles. Stiles took her." Finally he let go of Jackson, stepping back as a cloud seemed to pass over his face, confused and worried before his lips settled into a very thin line.
"Somebody better find my son."
