Next Morning - Somewhere Far From Dunbroch
"Okay everyone this is it. Everyone knows the plan?" Hiccup asked the Vikings of Berk. All nodded. Stoick stood on the bow of one of the longships and Hiccup felt reassurance. Grimmel thinks that Hiccup is alone, but he was about to learn that the first Dragon Rider isn't one to mess with. He turned to see Merida petting Noor and so much worry entered his heart. Grimmel almost killed her and she didn't show any fear. "Okay then, we'll take off in ten." Hiccup ordered and the Vikings loaded up the supplies. The young Rider walked over to Merida. "You sure about this."
"Aye. Grimmel is making fools of my folks and is threatening everything I care about." Merida answered and Hiccup pet Noor. "Besides, I'll have Noor and that Astrid lass with me."
"I know, but I don't want to lose you." Hiccup remarked before sighing. "When Grimmel hit you, my heart sank. Fear overwhelmed me. All I could think about was that I was going to lose you." he added and before he could continue to talk, Merida kissed him and Hiccup hugged her as the kiss grew. When they both pulled away, both smiled.
"No matter what happens, nothing will change. I will be here. Today we end Grimmel and show the world that Dragons are friends." Merida replied but before either walked to their dragons, Hiccup kissed Merida one more time before the battle.
"Tomorrow, we'll bring peace to Dunbroch and the Vikings." Hiccup said as the kiss ended.
Later - Kingdom of Dunbroch Coast
Merida flew on Noor thinking of everything. Her home was endangered, her family lives were threatened, and her relationship with Hiccup. Now they were flying off to battle against a madman. Merida still feels the string of Grimmel's arrow in her back. The poison was gone, but the pain was a reminder of what she is fighting for. She was going to make the Hunter pay for the lies and destruction. In the corner of Merida's eye, she caught Astrid and Stormfly flying close by.
"Hey Merida." Astrid greeted.
"Hey." Merida replied.
"Mind if I ask you something?" Astrid asked and Merida was puzzled at what Astrid would want.
"Sure. A friend of Hiccup is a friend of mine." Merida answered.
"I noticed Hiccup has been avoiding me. Care to answer why?" Astrid asked and Merida thought of it. Now that she thinks about it, Hiccup has been awkward to the Viking lass.
"I have no idea." Merida admitted.
"Thanks and I hope you two have a good life ahead of you." Astrid remarked and Merida blushed thinking of a future with Hiccup. Before she could go further into the thoughts, the sky turned into a field of arrows. The dragons evaded them or block the arrows with the underbelly of the wooden longships. Merida looked down to see the army of Dunbroch gathered on the coast.
"As I told you, your majesty. Hiccup has gathered an army of Northern Vikings and Dragons." Grimmel said to King Fergus with a grin.
"Aye, but I thought wee Hiccup was the only Dragon Rider?" Fergus asked and Grimmel shrugged.
"As did I, but it appears Hiccup was only a scout." Grimmel answered before climbing onto his airship. The Hunter gave several snaps and whistles. Two Deathgrippers flew to Hiccup's forces while the four pulled the airship into the sky. "Don't worry, I'll let you have Hiccup as promised."
Hiccup and the Dragon Riders glided down to the ocean to drop the longships safely. When two Deathgrippers glided down, Eret and his crew managed to take them down. Snoutlout and the Twins rescued the dragons before they could drown. Hiccup took deep breaths realizing that Grimmel must have spotted them. Once more, Hiccup fell into a trap. But this time, he has one card up his sleeve. "Astrid, get Merida to her folks. Everyone else, stay with the boats. Guard each other."
"What about you?" Merida asked and Hiccup turned to see Grimmel in his airship flying towards them.
"Distracting Grimmel." he answered before speeding towards the enemy. Toothless fired a plasma blast gaining the full attention of the Hunter. The two turned to go South along the coast and Grimmel followed. "Okay bud, let's gain some attitude." Hiccup remarked and they soared into the sky. Hiccup looked back in time to dodge an arrow. He spotted Merida and Astrid flying to the coast and prayed that he didn't make a mistake this time.
"Watch out!" Astrid yelled as a volley of arrows came down. Astrid and Stormfly flew under Noor while Merida raised a shield. The arrows bounced off of Noor's armor scales and Merida looked to see eight arrows in the shield. A close hit. But Merida raced to the coast. She leaned forward and slide her index finger up on Noor's scales. The Razorwhip used her left wing to absorb a wave of arrows before flying stable. When Astrid and Merida landed, a wave of Scots charged down the beach. Merida jumped off and waved her arms in the air getting the attention. Astrid jumped off Stormfly readying her axe.
"It's me you eejits!" Merida yelled and the army slowed down surprised to see Merida. The Princess saw shocked expressions from the Lords, their sons, but none more so than from her father.
"Merida?" Fergus questioned and Merida smiled. "Merida!" he yelled before charging down to hug his daughter. Merida hugged him back. Tears rolled down both Scots faces. "I thought I lost you. Grimmel said you were dead. That Hiccup killed ya."
"Grimmel lied." Merida said letting go of the hug. "Grimmel lied about Hiccup wanting to conquer Dunbroch. Grimmel is the one who tried to kill me. Hiccup saved me."
"Grimmel tried to kill you?" Fergus asked with fury and Merida nodded. The King turned to the Lords and the small army. "Looks like we'll be hunting down Grimmel and rip into pieces, then feed what remains into the dogs!" he yelled and the army cheered. Fergus turned back to Merida. "Who's with you and Hiccup?"
"Hiccup's old village and some dragons. Hiccup took me to Berk to save me. Knowing you'll just try to kill him." Merida answered and Fergus nodded. Noor walked to Merida's side. The Princess climbed onto the Razorwhip and turned to Astrid. "Astrid make sure my father is safe." Merida ordered before flying off to help Hiccup. As she flew South, she heard the flaps of wings, Merida turned to see Astrid. "I told ya to stay with my father!"
"Hiccup wanted me to protect you so that is what I'm going to do." Astrid replied and the two flew South hoping to find Hiccup.
"I must say this is a surprise Hiccup." Grimmel said as the battle continued. In the clouds, Hiccup and Toothless dove for an attack before disappearing into the clouds. The last run ended with Grimmel's arrow grazing Hiccup's side. "I would have thought, you attack me much earlier and with only dragons for support. But instead, you attack now with Vikings. What do you have other those fools?"
"They're my old tribe. As for the delay, I had to try and save Merida." Hiccup replied before going for another attack. This time the plasma destroyed one of the boards the Deathgrippers were holding to keep the airship up.
"Yet she died." Grimmel remarked as Hiccup and Toothless disappeared into the clouds. Grimmel's chuckled and the Dragon Rider knew something was wrong. "Unless she survived. Which means that she is telling the truth to her bonehead father now. You lured me out to give her the chance. Excellent plan." Grimmel added as Hiccup dove for another attack. This time Grimmel grazed Hiccup's shoulder pad, but the airship took more damage. To Hiccup's surprise, two more Dragon Riders appear and he cursed silently seeing Merida in the line of fire. The two dragons opened fire at the airship. Hiccup and Toothless flew in aiding in the attack. Grimmel whistled and the Deathgrippers sped down leading the airship to the shore. Hiccup and Toothless went in for a dive heading straight for Grimmel. As the Hunter turned to aim the crossbow, Hiccup jumped and slammed into the Hunter. Grimmel kept hold of Hiccup while they fell with Toothless not far behind. Grimmel tried to shoot Toothless with a smaller crossbow, but Hiccup tried to disarm the Hunter. Moments later, Noor crashed into the two grabbing Hiccup. The Dragon Rider looked to see Astrid and Stormfly grabbing Toothless. Noor loosened her grip so Hiccup could climb up on her back with Merida.
"Hello there Hiccup. Enjoyed your dive?" Merida joked as Hiccup climbed behind her.
"Better now that you're here." he replied with a grim. The small group turned to meet back with the Scots and Vikings hoping no battle took place.
When the Riders landed, Merida was glad to see that no fighting broke out. Hiccup checked on Toothless making sure he was alright. Astrid and Eret hugged each other. Merida walked to her father and hugged him again. Merida knew that they would win, but she was scared. Hiccup reported to both leaders what happened and both cheered at the victory. Fergus walked to Hiccup and sighed. "I am sorry for assuming you were a no good, rotten, thieving, murdering Viking. I should have trusted Merida's feelings more."
"Apology accepted. Grimmel is a good lier and I should have told you the truth long ago." Hiccup admitted as Stoick and the Lords walked next to the King.
"Well, I don't know much about your ways, but back home whenever we have a victory, we celebrate with food and drink." Stoick remarked and the Scots laughed.
"Aye. We do as well." Fergus replied turning to the large crowd. "To the castle for a great feast! To celebrate our victory! My daughter is alive! And new friends!" the King yelled followed by many cheers. Merida walked to Hiccup's side. Before Hiccup could do anything, Merida pulled him in for a kiss and he accepted the kiss. The two stood there for several moments embracing each other.
Fourteen Months Year Later - Kingdom of Dunbroch
"Well how do I look?" Hiccup asked Eret who was helping the Cheif of Berk and soon to be King of Dunbroch. The ex-trapper chuckled as he straightened the cloak.
"You should relax Hiccup. You've two been waiting for this day for a while now." Eret reassured.
"How did you feel when you married Astrid?" Hiccup asked and Eret nodded.
"That's how I know to tell you to relax." Eret answered and Stoick entered the room.
"We're ready for ya son." Stoick remarked and the two men exited the room following the former Chief of Berk to the Castle Green. So much has happened in the last year. Hiccup became Chief of Berk, the war against Drago was going well, Hiccup found his mother who he thought was dead, Eret and Astrid married, peace with the Berserkers and Outcast was made, and that is only scratching the surface. Now Hiccup was preparing to marry the most amazing girl in the world. When Hiccup got to the green, the King and Queen of Dunbroch waited for him. Elinor hugged Hiccup. When the hug ended, Fergus slapped the young man's back welcoming him to the family before walking to get Merida.
Hiccup and the gathered crowd of Vikings and Scots waited for Merida to arrive. Stoick put his hand on Hiccup's shoulder comforting the young Chief. When Fergus walked down to the alter with Merida, Hiccup was stunned. Her wild hair shined brightly against the white dress with golden trimmings. When the two arrived at the alter, Merida kissed her father on the cheek before facing Hiccup. The two lovers held hands as the ceremonial cloth was wrapped around their hands. The Elder began to say the script for the union but all Hiccup could think about was the beautiful woman in front of him. Their future was uncertain, but no matter what he will always be here for Merida. When the words ended, the two lovers kissed sealing the marriage. The crowd cheered at the new Chieftess of Berk and soon King and Queen of Dunbroch.
Hello everyone. Sorry if this came to a rushed ending, but after the events of the last few days and bad news on the current move, my mind has been distracted. But don't worry. There will be more stories in the future. The next one will be a regular HTTYD while I decide what to do on the next HTTYD Crossover. Also, my planned Modern HTTYD story is in need of rewrite and rethinking. More on that project at a different point. Anyways I hope you enjoyed this story and continue reading my stories. Have a good day.
