"Ok Ruetoff, you're all set to head on over to the academy! Good luck, and I'll see you over there in a week or so. I'm supposed to give some lessons this semester, aparently."
The younger viking tipped his helmet and hopped onto the speckled Sandwraith, grinning gratefully
"We can't thank you enough."
Valka looked into the teen's eyes and he stared into hers. There was something comforting about this stranger to the woman who had basically lived as a dragon for the majority of her years. However, her keen eyes saw a scar that was all too familiar. It wasn't a scar, it was a brand. A Hunter's brand.
Ruetoff noticed her staring and rubbed the area with his head bowed "I was kidnapped. I hated it. I always admired dragons...I respected them, and they in turn never really found me interesting or threatening. Every time there wsas a raid, I'd hide. I'd try to stay out of the chaos as much as possible. Even when the hunters brought me along on a hunt, I was never keen on killing them. It just seemed barbaric."
He scratched Flecktalon "These creatures deserve respect just as much as we humans do. They're just doing their thing. They attack hunters because duh of course they do. They attacked Berk because they were hungry."
"Actually they attacked Berk because something much bigger than them was hungry." Hiccup clarified. "She was their Queen, so they obeyed her because if they didn't, they'd serve themselves as a replacement."
Toothless growled and hissed, shaking his head as unwanted memories creeped into his head. Hiccup frowned and placed a comforting hand on his scaly friend's head "I know bud. I didn't mean to drudge up the past."
There was a horn that sounded, and all three looked to the northwest.
"Well, looks like it's time for orientation to start. Better get over there, Ruetoff!" Hiccup encouraged "Good luck, and train well! I'll see you soon."
"Thank you both again. Come on, Flecktalon! Let's go!"
The Sandwraith roared happily and took to the skies, the two headed for a new adventure, as both their dreams were about to become reality.
Off to class with you, Ruetoff! See you all on campus!
