Theme-911 and Wildfires

Time Period: A Flashback-An Alternate Different Universe

Date: 12-20-1990

Situation: Sarah (25 years old) gives birth to Kitty at home during a blizzard. John (6 years old and home from school) witnesses and helps out with the birth.

Scene 1: Sarah's bedroom

Sarah (in active labor, she rests in the bed): JOHN!

John (frightened, he enters the bedroom): Yes mommy

Sarah (giving the telephone to John): Please call 911 for me

John: Why?

Sarah (rubbing her stomach): Your baby sister Kitty is coming. We must go to the hospital.

John (dialing 911): I don't hear anything

Sarah (hanging up the phone): The telephone lines are down due to the blizzard.

John (worried, he lays down beside Sarah in bed): What are we going to do?

Sarah: We are going to stay home

(Sarah could've contacted the next door neighbor who was a nurse. Sarah couldn't afford her services though. Sarah felt confident she could deliver Kitty on her own because she gave birth to John without any medical help.)

Scene 2: The bathroom

Situation: Kitty's actual birth (Christmas songs play on a radio (set by John) in the background)

Sarah (sitting in the bathtub, she is transitioning into the pushing stage): John, please look away

John (looking away): Ok, mommy

Sarah (crying and screaming into a towel): AHA..AHA..AHA...AHA

John (staring back briefly): Something is coming out of you

Sarah (yelling): Didn't I tell you to look away?

John (looking away): I am sorry, mommy

Sarah (squats and cups her hands around the baby's crowning hand): GRR...AHA...AHA...AHA..AHA...AHA

John (frightened): Mommy, I am scared

Sarah (pushing out the rest of the baby's body): Your baby sister Kitty is almost here

(The sound of Kitty's crying brings Sarah and John joy and peace. The Flashback ends.)

Sarah (kissing and embracing John): John, I love you. I thank you for picking up Kitty from school.
