Sakura knows Sasuke doesn't like to feel vulnerable, although he doesn't complain when she interlocks her fingers with his while they walk across the forest.
She perceives his fingers' warmth, like water under the sun of midday, and encourages herself to take them to her lips, kissing her way up the back of his hand. Around them the birds are singing and the sunlight filters through the green leaves, covering them with a viridescent hue. Sasuke flushes and glances at her. "Sakura," he says and she smiles, thinking about how happy she is for traveling around the world with him.
