Situation: Post The Engagement and Pregnancy Announcements

Scene: The Den

(Deep in thought, Derek sits on the couch still absorbing the news)

John: Derek, you are awfully quiet. Are you okay?

Derek: I am doing okay. Your parents are engaged and expecting a baby. You are going to be a big brother. I am going to be an uncle again.

John: My parents' actions have changed the future. I am not their main priority anymore.

Cameron: You are their main priority. They have created a defect. I can make them change their minds about the baby.

John: My dad has already impregnated my mom. You can't turn back the clock. You can't reverse time.

Cameron: I can do anything if you give me permission. For instance, I can make your mom have a miscarriage.

Derek (yelling at Cameron): You are an evil heartless machine.

John: Please don't hurt my mom, Cam. Our situation is different because it involves an unborn life. His or her future is already set in motion.

Cameron: But Still

John: My parents are having a baby. Their actions have changed the future. It is what it is.

Derek (somewhat emotional he steps outside): I'll be back

John (to Cameron): What is wrong with Derek?

Cameron: Jesse and Derek experienced a miscarriage. Their baby was a boy.

John (shocked and confused): What? How?

Time Period: An Alternate Universe

Action: Post The Miscarriage Revelation- Derek visits Jesse in the infirmity

Derek (hugging Jesse): I heard about the explosion. I am grateful that you are still alive.

Jesse (choked up): Derek, please sit down

Derek (sitting down and taking Jesse's hand in his): What is on your heart, honey?

Jesse (fighting back tears): I had a miscarriage on the ship. I never knew I was pregnant until the machine told me just now. It was a boy.

Derek (shocked and overcome with grief): OH! My God.

Jesse: I am so sorry, Derek. If only I knew about the baby earlier.

Derek: I love you. The miscarriage is not your fault.

(From then one, Derek resents the machine aka Cameron).

Time Period: A Flashforward- Nine Months Later

Date: 12-22-2009

Place: The Connor Reese House

Special Event: A homecoming party for Sarah (44) and Baby Kitty (two days old)

Kyle (placing kitty in Derek's arms): This is your neice Kitty. Please look after her.

Derek (holding Kitty): I am not your nanny. You are Kitty's father.

Kyle (taking back Kitty): You are right

Derek: Sometimes I do think about having a child of my own

Cameron: You would've had a son if Jesse didn't have a miscarriage

Derek: I don't want to discuss her or him. Shut up or else.

Cameron: I am sorry for your loss

Derek (hysterical): SHUT UP!

John: Derek, what the hell?

Derek (stepping outside): I am so sorry. You will not understand.

Sarah (to anyone): What is Derek's problem?

John: Derek and Jesse had a miscarriage. Their son would've been a newborn like Kitty.

Sarah (swooning over Kitty): You are so cute, oh, yes you are

(Baby Kitty Cooes making everyone laugh. They forget about Derek and his miscarriage).

Time Period: A Flashforward

Date: 11-11-2011

Place: A Hospital

Sarah (in active labor, she sits in a wheelchair): I thank you for driving me to the hospital

Derek (pushing Sarah's wheelchair): Help! My brother's wife is in labor.

A nurse: Do you mean your sister in law is in labor?

Derek: Yes

A nurse (taking Sarah into the room): Don't worry, Sir. Your sister in law is in safe good hands.

(Derek, Kyle, and John take turns in assisting Sarah with the labor and birth. Cameron tries to keep Kitty (1 ongoing 2) entertained. Eventually Sarah gives birth to a son named Chance Joseph Reese. The Flashback or Flashforward ends then. Derek wakes up with a heart full of love for Kitty (10 ongoing 11) and Chance (8 ongoing 9).
