while Chance catches up with Sarah.

Chance (embracing Sarah): Mommy..

Sarah (stroking Chance's hair): How was Walmart, baby?

Chance: Walmart was an adventure

Sarah (curious): What do you mean by it was an adventure?

Chance (showing off his new teddy bear to Sarah): John brought me a new teddy bear

Sarah: You were a good boy then

Chance: Yes

Sarah: What else happened at Walmart?

John (lying): Nothing bad happened at Walmart

Sarah: John, you were too quick with that response. I hope you are not lying.

Chance: Mom, I felt safe with John. He wasn't careless.

Sarah (touching Chance's cheek): I believe you, Sweetie

(The flashback ends)

Time Period: The Present Reality

Place: The Den

(Sarah is watching tv when Chance sits down on her lap)

Chance: Mommy

Sarah (keeping Chance steady): How may I help you, baby?

Chance: I love you

Sarah: I love you too

Chance: I have a secret

John (entering the den): CHANCE!

Chance (getting off Sarah's lap): I am sorry

Sarah: What is going on, boys?

John (escorting Chance out of the room): OH its nothing

Sarah (angry, she yells): JOHN CALEB KYLE CONNOR REESE

John: You called me by my full name. The situation is really that serious.

Sarah: I demand to know the truth at once

John: The truth is I almost lost Chance at WalMart. I didn't want him to tell you. I am sorry for withholding this information.

(Speechless, Sarah is torn between hating John and forgiving him. She chooses peace and love.)

Sarah (hugging John): I love you. I forgive you.

John (loosening Sarah's grip):Sure

Sarah: Chance has been unusually clinging and needy. Maybe its his nature or the Walmart situation shook him up.

John: I assume it is both

Sarah: Down Syndrome kids like him are often affectionate. I don't mind if he is clinging and needy.

John: So do you still trust me with him?

Sarah: I should keep a close eye on him. He requires special attention as you know. I haven't count you out yet. You are his role model.
