And all of the noise, I hear inside. Restless and loud, unspoken and wild -Christina Perri, The Words
Date: From 12-13-2020 to Now 12-14-2020
Situation: Depressed, Sarah has been in shutdown mode
Scene 1: Kyle and Sarah's bedroom
Kyle (putting his arms around Sarah's waist): Good morning, sweetheart
Sarah (moody, she resists Kyle's touch): I am in the mood for that today
Kyle (keeping his hands today): You barely got out of bed yesterday. Are you depressed again?
Sarah (emotional): The sweet old lady, Ms. Barbara who lived across the street died. She had the corona virus. She was my friend. I considered her to be a second mother figure.
Kyle (choked up): I understand
Sarah (covering her head with the bedcovers): Please let me sleep. Please leave me alone.
Kyle (rubbing Sarah's back): I love you. I am here if you want to talk.
Sarah (falling asleep): Sure
Nine year old Chance (carrying his teddy bear, he approaches Sarah): Mommy..
Sarah (snaps at Chance): I am not in the mood for child's play
Chance (sad, he walks leaves the room): Ok, mommy
Kyle (gathering Chance up in his arms): I will spend time with you, buddy. I will make hot chocolate for you and Kitty.
Chance (thrilled): I am so excited, daddy
Scene: Downstairs- The Den
Action: Kyle, Chance, and Kitty (ten ongoing eleven) are drinking hot chocolate and watching a Hallmark Christmas movie
John (walking into the den): Can I join in all the fun?
Kyle: Yes
John (grabbing a cup of hot chocolate and a chair): Thanks
Kyle: You are welcome
John (looking around for his mom): Where is mom?
Kyle (choked up): Your mom is sleeping in the bed. She is having a bad day. She has been depressed since our sweet neighbor Barbara died. She considered Barbara to be a second mother figure.
Kitty: That's absolutely sad
John: I never knew mom could care for a neighbor so much
Kyle: I hope your mom doesn't turn to her pills for comfort
Chance: What do you mean by her pills?
Kyle: You are just too young to understand, buddy
Chance: Please tell me anyway
Kyle: Someday you will know the truth
Chance: What is the truth?
Derek (approaching Chance): The truth is your mom is a lunatic, perhaps a drug addict. She has a mental illness. The quarantine life has brought out her dark depressing side.
Chance (frightened, he trades in his hot chocolate for his teddy bear): My mom is a lunatic. She is a drug addict.
Derek: Yes
Kyle (angry, he charges at Derek): DEREK!
John (standing between Kyle and Derek): Please calm down for the kids' sake
Derek (avoiding Kyle): How long are you going to defend her?
John (still standing between Kyle and Derek): Are you talking about my mom?
Kyle (hammering into Derek's conscience): Sarah is my wife for Christ's sake. She is not a lunatic or a drug addict.
Derek: How do you explain Kitty's Dyslexia and Chance's Down Syndrome?
Kyle: I see nothing wrong with my children. They are beautiful and special in their own unique way.
Derek: You still haven't answered my question
Kyle: I don't have an answer for your question
Derek: In my personal opinion, Sarah's old age and her pills could've contributed to their special needs
Kyle (very heated):I swear to God if you don't shut up
Derek: Your weakness and your love for that crazy woman will be your downfall
(Kyle attacks Derek and John gets hurt in the process. Cameron tries to breakup the bloody fight. The kids' screaming and crying brings Sarah downstairs asap. Sarah's presence and tough love attitude restores peace and order in the house.)
