Authors Note

Hello. Welcome back, everyone. This is chapter 4, in which Ash, Red, and Serena will finally meet. I decided to have them meet before the summer camp because that way, Serena would be more willing to come to camp without acting like a crybaby.

For those that reviewed the previous chapters, I've sent you a PM answering any questions you had and such. For those that use guest accounts while reviewing, I'll answer your questions and reply to your reviews in the Authors Note at the beginning of each chapter. There has only been one guest review so far.

This guest asked:

Will Leaf make an appearance or will Serena take her place? Will Red choose Charizard like the Pokemon Origins or Venusaur like Pokemon Adventures? Can you also use Elaine who is the female main character from Let's Eevee who can start with an Eevee? Also am curious if Yellow or her counterpart will appear Pairings could be Ash x Serena, Gary x Leaf, and Red x Elaine

Reply:

I'm gonna start from the back. Pairings have not been decided yet, but after they get their first Pokemon, the poll for Ash's GF will be open, with Red's opening soon after.

I honestly don't know much about Yellow, so I don't know if I'll incorporate her into the story. If I do, it'll probably be just a minor role. She definitely won't show up in every chapter or something. Maybe just at special moments such as big festivals, or important competitions (like the league and stuff).

Leaf will definitely be part of the story, but she most likely won't be part of the group unless she ends up winning to poll to be Ash or Red's GF. Nope, Leaf isn't replacing Serena. Both are in the story, but may not travel with Ash and Red depending on the winner of the poll.

Lastly, I haven't played any of the Let's Go games, so I don't know anything about the main characters from those. I'll brush up on that info, and then I'll check if I can add Elaine into the story, but If I add her, it definitely won't be at the beginning. Maybe they'll meet sometime in the middle of the story at an important event.

And as for Red's starter Pokemon, that depends completely on the winner of the Poll. It definitely won't be the same as Ash though, which means no Pikachu for Red.

Thanks for the review. I hope you got all your answers.

The poll for Red's starter is still on my profile, so please do go and vote. Keep in mind that the Pokemon that became Ash's starter will not be included in the poll for Red's chapter in order to keep the starter repetition to a minimum. They might end up having some pokemon that are the same later on, but definitely not the same starters. This poll will only be active until the next 2 chapters are published.

Ok. Let's get on to the story.

Delia had just returned home after going to the grocery store, where she met her new friends Grace Yvonne. She and Grace had decided to send their children to Professor Oak's summer camp together, but before that, they wanted their kids to get to know each other a little bit. Because of this Delia had decided to call Serena and Grace over for lunch the following day.

"Ash, Red," Delia called. "Come on. It's time to wake up." The sound of footsteps was heard from the top floor as the two children came running down the stairs.

"Good morning, mommy," Ash said sleepily. He rubbed his eyes and washed his face to quickly freshen up a bit. His younger brother Red mimicked the greeting before both sat down at the table to have their breakfast. Their mom didn't have enough time to make breakfast for them, so the twins happily had milk and cereal instead. The two twins decided to snack on some Cinnamon Toast Crunch shaped like Latios and Latias.

Delia suddenly remembered about the Pokemon Summer Camp. "Ash, Red," Delia asked. "Would you guys like me to sign you up for Professor Oak's Summer Camp."

"Summer Camp," Ash asked. "What's that."

"Professor Oak will be having fun activities and such where you can learn more about Pokemon," Delia answered. "It's a 4-week long camp starting the following Monday."

"Will we get to meet more Pokemon," Red asked. Ash and Red had both loved Pokemon since they were kids. Whenever Delia was busy, she would drop the kids off at Professor Oak's lab, where he would show them all of his pokemon. They would play with all of them and have lots of fun.

"Of course you will. The Camp is right at Professor Oak's lab," Delia said. "You'll also get to make new friends. Maybe some of your other friends will be attending the camp too."

Ash and Red looked to each other before saying simultaneously, "Okay. We'll go." Delia smiled. She knew that the twins would never say no to meeting more Pokemon.

"Ok. I'll go sign you boys up for the camp then." Delia quickly pulled up Professor Oak's number, who promised that he would save two spots for the twins. Ash and Red were ecstatic after being given one of the limited spots for the camp. Now they were wondering who else would be coming to the camp as well.

Ring Ring Ring, Ring Ring Ring, Phone call, Phone call.

Delia walked over and picked up the phone. "Hello. This is Delia Ketchum speaking." The caller turned out to be her new friend, Serena's mom.

"Hi, Delia. It's me, Grace," She said. "I saw the posters for Professor Oak's Summer Camp outside of the Pokemart."

"I saw them too. I was planning on sending Ash and Red to the camp," Delia said proudly.

"You were?" Grace asked. "That's great then! I'd like to send Serena there as well, and I was hoping there would be someone around her age to give her some company."

"Don't worry, Grace," Delia said. "Ash and Red will help her get settled in. I'm sure they'll become great friends."

"Me too. Do you think we should let them get to know each other before the summer camp comes around?" Grace asked.

"Yes. I think that would make her more comfortable going to the camp." Delia stated. "Can you come over for lunch tomorrow along with Serena? We can introduce them to each other tomorrow."

"Sure that sounds good to me," Grace said.

"Perfect. See you tomorrow then," Delia continued.

"Bye," Grace said before hanging up. "Hey Serena, come down here a minute," She called. A few seconds later her daughter came down the stairs.

"What happened mama," She asked.

"I made a new friend here today when going to the store," Grace smiled. "Her name is Delia and she has two sons around the same age as you." Serena, being very shy, grew nervous by the thought of meeting new people. "We're going over to their home for lunch tomorrow so that you guys can get to know each other. They'll become your first friends in this unfamiliar region."

"Ash, Red, listen up," Delia said. "Tomorrow some special guests are gonna be coming over for lunch." Ash and Red looked up at her quizzically, wondering who was going to be coming over. "My new friend, Grace, will be dropping by along with her daughter Serena," She continued. "Serena's the same age as you, so I want you guys to show her around and help her get settled in.

"Ok mommy," Ash said. "We'd love to meet her."

"Yea. It would be great to have another new friend," Red continued.

"Great. Thank you both," Delia said. "Now go clean your rooms. I want the whole house to be clean for our guests tomorrow." Both boys immediately sped off to do their work.

-The next morning-

Delia had woken up at the crack of dawn to get ready for her guests today. She had first vacuumed the carpets in every room before wiping down any dust from all the windows. After this, she had sped off into her room to find something slightly formal to wear. While doing so she accidentally knocked down a package from on top of the wardrobe. With a start, she realized that she had never given this package to her children. They had turned 5 a couple of months back, but she had completely forgotten to give them this mysterious package.

Deciding to ignore it, for now, she put it down on her bed, where she knew she wouldn't forget about it before going down to the kitchen. To make up for it, she decided to make the twins' favorite breakfast for them today. About half an hour later (at 10:30 or so), she called upstairs, "Wake up, Breakfast is ready." The smell of the delicious food immediately woke up the twins who sprinted down the stairs and into the dining room.

When they got there, their eyes grew wide as they noticed their plates. Their mother had made them their favorite foods, and even took the liberty of buying them orange soda. Orange soda was their favorite, but they were hardly allowed to drink it because it wasn't healthy. They gave their mother a quick hug before diving into their meal. Within seconds, both plates had been finished and the twins were busy licking off the crumbs from the plate.

"Ok boys, you guys can go outside and play for a couple of hours," Delia said. "It's about 11:00 right now, so come back in an hour." Ash and Red nodded to show they understood before running out the door. "Be sure to be back by 12:00 in order to get ready," She yelled behind them as they left.

-1 hour later-

"Mommy, we're back," Red said as he and Ash walked in.

"Just in time," Delia said. "Go inside and get ready." Red and Ash ran upstairs and changed out from their clothes which had gotten dirty while playing. After finishing, they came downstairs and waited in the living room. Minutes later, the doorbell rang. Delia went to open it and invited the guests inside.

"Hello. Please do come in," Delia said. Grace walked in with Serena shyly hiding behind her back. Delia noticed and smiled at the young girl. "Hello, what's your name."

"I- I'm Serena," She said. "It's nice to meet you."

"My name is Delia, and these are my sons Ash and Red."

"Hello," Ash said.

"Pleasure to meet you," Red continued.

"H-hello," The shy girl said. "Its ni-nice to m-meet you."

"Let's be friends ok," Ash said, giving the girl a bright smile. Seeing the twins being so nice to her, Serena quickly felt more comfortable being here.

She gave her own smile and said, "Yea! We'll be great friends."

"Best friends," Red broke in. As the conversation went on, Delia retreated into the kitchen to finish up the lunch preparations. She came back a couple of minutes later with multiple trays of food. She set everything on the dining table and everyone dug in. As lunch went on, Serena became more and more comfortable around the twins.

As they were eating, Grace asked Ash and Red, "So boys, what do you guys want to do when you grow up."

"We want to become Pokemon Master!" Ash said excitedly as Red nodded his agreement

"Yea. We'll travel all around the world with our Pokemon to become the number one trainers in the world," Red continued.

Grace chuckled at their outburst. "That sounds great you two." She looked towards her daughter before continuing. "Maybe you can rub off on Serena here," She said as Serena blushed with embarrassment.

"Hey Serena," Ash asked. "What's your dream when you grow up."

"Umm. well, I don't really know," Serena said. "Going on a journey really doesn't sound like my kind of thing." Serena expected Ash and Red to be repulsed. She thought they would no longer want to be friends with her since she didn't have a similar dream to them.

She was about to burst into tears when Red said, "That's all right. You don't need to have a dream from right now."

"Yea! I'm sure you'll find what's right for you eventually," Ash continued.

After this, they spent some time talking about the Kalos region. Serena told Ash and Red about her hometown of Vaniville and the major attractions such as Prism Tower in Lumiose City. She even told them about her old friends and neighbors, Trevor, Tierno, and Shauna. All three of them were around the same age as well. She told them that Tierno wanted to be a dancer, while Trevor's dream was to travel around Kalos with his own Pokedex and take pictures of every Pokemon he meets.

After what seemed like only a couple minutes, lunch had ended and Serena and Grace had to go home. "Bye, everyone. Thanks a lot for the invitation," Grace said.

"Let's meet again sometime, Serena," Ash told her

"Yes we can play with each other some time," Red continued.

"Of course. It was really fun talking to you guys," Serena said enthusiastically before the two left to go back home.

As Grace and Serena walked back home from their visit to the Ketchum house, Grace asked Serena if she was willing to go to the Summer Camp. At first, Serena was hesitant but finally agreed after she was told that Ash and Red would be going too.

"What do we do at this summer camp," Serena asked.

"Professor Oak will teach you a lot about Pokemon in order to help prepare you for the future," Grace answered.

"But…. I don't even know what I want to do in the future," Serena said.

"That may be so, but keep in mind that there will be a lot of other trainers there too," Grace said. "You'll get the chance to make some more friends here in Pallet Town." That helped convince Serena to go to the camp, so Grace quickly signed her up, receiving one of the last open spots.

-Ketchum Residence-

Soon after Serena and Grace left, Delia remembered the package she was to give to her sons. "Boy, I'll be right back. Stay here until then," She instructed them. "I have something for you."

Both boys looked at each other and shrugged before nodding. Delia went up to her room and took out the package from her wardrobe. She walked back into the living room and set the package on the coffee table. "What this mommy," Ash and Red asked her.

And so, Delia told them the story of how someone had left this package on their doorstep 5 years ago, instructing her to give the contents of the package to her sons when they turned 5. "I forgot to give it to you on your birthday," she said. "I remembered just this morning when I was cleaning out the wardrobe and found it in the back."

The twins were confused but decided to check what was inside of the package. Ash went into the kitchen and returned with a knife to cut off the tape keeping the package closed. Red took the liberty of opening the package and took out the contents.

The package contained some very useful items. The first item was a book, which was titled The Road to be a Pokemon Master. Ash and Red quickly skimmed through the book. They were astonished at all the information it contained. The book had everything, from type advantages, medicine recipes, methods to train every type of Pokemon, and much, much more.

Next, they moved on to a rectangular glass case. They quickly opened it up to reveal a multitude of different colored stones. One of the stones was orange, red and yellow, with a bright fire burning inside of it. Another stone was blue and purple, with droplets of water visible inside. One of the stones looked like a fossilized leaf, while another one was shaped like the sun. There was also one stone that had a yellow lightning bolt inside, and a purely blue stone, which shone like the morning sky. There was also another stone which was completely clear with a yellowish hue to it. It had a small orange orb inside of it. The last section contained a stone which was completely purple, another one which was nice and round, and one which looked like a shard from a meteorite.

The boys were wondering what these stones were for. But Delia, being a trainer, knew what these were and how valuable one of these was. These were evolution stones. One of each type of stone. She knew her sons would make good use of these when they became trainers.

The last box contained two small round stones. Each stone glowed brightly with all the colors of the rainbow. Imbued within the stone was a black helix. None of them could figure out what these two stones were for. As Delia lifted up the stones, another note fell from underneath them. The note said, "These are called Key Stones and are very precious and rare. Ash and Red will not be able to understand what these stones will do until they get their own Pokemon, but make sure that these stones are kept safe."

Ash and Red looked in awe at all of their new belongings before grabbing all of them and heading back to their room.

And this is it. Chapter 4 has been completed.

So, I've sort of introduced the fact that mega evolution exists by giving them the keystones. I obviously didn't give them Mega Stones right now because they would have been way too overpowered then. Also, it wouldn't have made sense to give 5-year-olds a mega stone when they don't even have Pokemon. Giving the key-stone was appropriate cause they can't use it without a mega stone anyway.

I ended up not completing the Summer Camp again because of length. So the most important parts of Professor Oak's Pokemon Summer Camp will come in the next chapter. Hopefully. After adding Serena, Ash, and Red meeting before the camp (to increase Serena's willingness to actually go) it ended up already being more than 2000 words. I also needed to add Delia giving the twins what was in that package from the first chapter, the one given to them by Riley, and it's gotten to 3000 words already which is my average for each chapter.

Next chapter will contain what so many people have been waiting for:

1) Professor Oak's Pokemon Summer Camp

2) Ash, Red, and Gary's rivalry will form

3) It'll also introduce another new character, but you'll have to wait to find out who that character is going to be.

The 6th chapter will definitely move on from the five-year-old section. They'll be nine years old in that chapter.

As usual, please remember to complete Red's Starter Pokemon poll if you haven't already. I may reopen Ash's poll after chapter 5 because I feel like I gave it very little time (not even 1 week) compared to the time for Red's poll (almost 2 weeks). Other than that, Please remember to review, ask any questions, give suggestions, vote in the poll, and if you guys liked the story, then please do favorite the story or follow it.

Peace Out and see you all next time.
