Hello. Welcome back, everyone. This is chapter 8. We saw in the last chapter that Professor Oak's famous Pokemon Summer Camp has finally come to the end, giving all the students memories to cherish for their whole life. We also saw that Ash, Red, and Gary got a rare Pokemon egg each as their prize. Ash and Red ended up being drawn towards a certain egg in particular, while Gary took the one he thought looked the coolest. What Pokemon will these eggs hatch into? Well, you'll find out. The answers are pretty obvious though.
I have been getting this question in my PM's quite a lot. People have been telling me that I forgot to include Sylveon in the Eeveelutions section. In my story, Sylveon is a fairy type Eeveelution discovered just recently in the Kalos region. Because of that, it would make more sense that Professor Oak wouldn't know about the fairy type evolution of Eevee as of yet since only Kalosian's have it. Serena wouldn't know about it either because as you can see, she doesn't seem to know much about Pokemon, and also because she moved to the Kanto region 5 years ago.
For those that reviewed the previous chapters, I've sent you a PM answering any questions you had and such. For those that use guest accounts while reviewing, I'll answer your questions and reply to your reviews in the Authors Note at the beginning of each chapter. There have been no new guest reviews since the last chapter.
The results for Ash's poll at the end of this week are as follows:
Riolu: 11 votes
Pikachu: 11 votes
Charmander: 5 votes
Dratini: 4 votes
Froakie: 4 votes
Eevee: 2 votes
Bulbasaur: 1 vote
Squirtle: 0 votes
Riolu and Pikachu are now tied at 11 votes. There's still one more week for this poll. After that, both starter Pokemon polls will be closed.
So this chapter will contain the very first OC of the story. The OC's name is Chris Casper and I'll give a more detailed summary of the OC at the end of the chapter. This OC belongs to my beta reader, Northstar Pokeshipper.
-An Island in the middle of the ocean-
"Yes, this should be it," A sinister voice said. This voice belonged to Dr. Namba, Team Rocket's lead scientist. He had created many inventions for Team Rocket, including devices to capture Pokemon. His favorite thing to do was to torture them with electrical shocks until they couldn't take anymore.
"Dr. Namba, sir," another voice said. A man wearing a black uniform walked into the room. He was also wearing a cap, and his uniform had a large red R on the center. This man was one of Team Rocket's grunts, sent along with a small group of others to assist Dr. Namba in his next experiment. "The specimen is ready to be tested on, Sir," The grunt said.
"Ahhh Yes." Dr. Namba said. "Today is finally the day." He held up a vial of green liquid. "After injecting this serum into the Pokemon, it will be able to evolve into any of its evolutions and return to its original appearance at will," he continued. "Bring in the specimen."
"Yes sir," the grunt said. He walked out of the room and returned a couple of moments later with a small cage in his hands. Inside the cage, a small Pokemon was seen, shaking with fright. The Pokemon had brown fur, a bushy brown tail with a cream-colored tip, and a furry collar of the same color. It had big brown eyes as well as large ears and pink paw pads. This Pokemon, an Eevee, was the subject of Team Rocket's latest creations.
Dr. Namba was working on a serum that would allow a Pokemon to evolve into any of its evolutions at will and return to their original form at any time and had decided on Eevee's as the best subjects for having the most amount of evolutions of any Pokemon. He had previously tested on almost 25 Eevee's which had all been failures and was sure that he had finally gotten it right.
"Ahh yes. Hold it still," The scientist commanded. The grunt firmly held onto the Eevee, who was trying its hardest to get away from him. Dr. Namba grabbed the serum and injected it into the frightened Pokemon. The Eevee screamed in pain before falling unconscious. "Yes, any minute now," Dr. Namba said. After a couple of moments, nothing had happened. The scientist yelled in rage.
"What am I doing wrong," he said. Kicking the side of his table. "Why have none of these experiments been a success."
"Sir, what should I do with the failed specimen," the grunt asked.
"Get rid of it." Dr. Namba said. "Throw the little rabbit near Mount Silver so he gets devoured by the strong Pokemon. We don't want anybody finding out what has been done to it."
"Yes sir. I'll take one of the other grunts along in case there is an attack," the grunt said. He then grabbed the Eevee, saluted the scientist, and walked outside to the Team Rocket choppers. Calling one of his fellow grunts, the two boarded the chopper and left for Mount Silver.
-At The Foot of Mount Silver-
It was about 10 pm, and the only light source came from the moon illuminating the base of Mount Silver. The moonlight revealed a small wooden house next to the entrance to Mount Silver. Inside the house, a young boy of 12 was sitting in his room in front of the TV. He had brown hair, brown eyes, and glasses, and was wearing his favorite outfit of a purple shirt, blue jeans, and sneakers.
Currently, he was immersed in watching the Unovan Football League. His favorite team, the Nidokings, were playing against their biggest rivals, the Fraxures. The Nidokings were the reason Chris always wore a purple shirt. "Come on," Chris thought. "Just one more point." The Nidokings only needed to score one more goal to break the tie and defeat the Fraxures.
"Chris, it's already quite late," A voice called from the doorway. The voice belonged to Chris's mom, a plump woman with brown hair, blonde highlights, and blue eyes, and was a former chef.
"Yea come on, Get to bed already," His father called out angrily. Chris's dad fixed traffic lights for a living. He had very little hair, brown eyes, and was easily angered.
"Just give me a couple of minutes," Chris said. "They've almost won. You guys can go to bed if you want." After some urging from Chris, his parents finally agreed and went back to their room, while Chris stayed up watching the match. A couple of minutes later, he heard a strange buzzing noise from outside. He quickly got up to take a look and quietly walked outside.
He noticed a chopper in the sky hovering over Mount Silver. Finally, the chopper began to descend, not far from his home. He quickly searched for a place to hide. Seeing many large boulders, he ducked behind one of them just as the chopper landed. The doors opened and 2 men in dark clothing exited.
"This is the place, right," One of the men asked.
"You got that right, Dave," The other man said.
The first man, now identified as Dave, pulled out the cage from within the chopper and opened it. He then roughly pulled out Eevee and threw it on the ground, eliciting a cry of pain from the small Pokemon. "Ha, that's what happens to failed specimens of Team Rocket," Dave said, laughing. "You want to try to, Steve?"
"Oh hell yeah," Steve replied. He kicked the Eevee in the side, making it fly into the side of the mountain. Eevee tried to get back up and run away but then collapsed once more. Meanwhile, behind the boulder, Chris watched in horror as he saw such a cruel act against a Pokemon. He wanted nothing more than to go out and help it but knew he could do nothing until the men left.
"Eh that'll be enough," Steve said. "The wild Pokemon will take care of the damn thing."
"Quite right," Dave said. He gave the Pokemon one last evil smirk. Then the two men entered the chopper once again, which flew into the air and disappeared from sight.
Chris quickly got out from behind the boulder and ran to the injured Pokemon. "Are you ok," he asked worriedly. Eevee let out a small whimper and tried to move away from him. Chris gave a smile and said softly, "Don't worry. I'll take care of you. I'll make sure you feel better." Realizing that the boy was sincere, Eevee nodded, before collapsing.
"No Eevee," Chris yelled. He picked up the injured Pokemon and ran back inside his house. Running over to the medicine cabinet, he took out a couple of Oran Berries and Super Potions. He quickly sprayed the super potions over Eevee's wounds, before crushing the Oran Berries and feeding it to the unconscious Pokemon. Chris knew it would take a long time for Eevee to get back to 100%, but knew it would happen eventually. In a couple of hours, Eevee was feeling slightly better and was sleeping.
"Don't worry Eevee," Chris whispered. "One day, we'll get revenge on the people that did this to you." He gently stroked Eevee as she snuggled up to him in her sleep. "WE'LL MAKE YOU SUFFER TEAM ROCKET," Chris yelled, looking up into the sky where the chopper had disappeared. "We'll have our revenge," he said softer, before falling asleep with his brand new Pokemon by his side.
-Pallet Town-
It was about 10:30 in the morning and Ash and Red were walking to the Pallet Town Park to meet with their friends. Today was a special day for these boys, and they had finally entered the double digits. Ever since Gary had turned 10 a month ago, he hadn't gone a day without rubbing it in. Serena and Elaine weren't bothered by it, but Ash, Red, and Leaf definitely were.
"Hey, where is everyone," Red asked, as they approached their meeting spot.
"I don't know." Ash said. "They're usually here on time." The boys scanned the surrounding land, but there was no sign of their friends.
"I guess we'll wait for a while then," Red sighed, sitting on the bench.
"Hey Ash, Red," a voice said from behind them. "Happy birthday guys!" Leaf said, walking towards them.
"Hey guys, Happy Birthday," Serena said. "Look. we pooled in our money and bought you guys something."
"Hey thanks!" Red said.
"Where's Gary though," Ash asked.
"Here I am. Sorry I was late," Gary said as he entered the park. "Congrats on hitting the double digits guys!"
"Thanks Gary," Red said.
"Of course, it doesn't mean you're at my level now or anything," Gary said smirking, as Ash slapped him upside his head.
"Oh right the gift," Elaine said, pulling out a large rectangular package from her bag. "We bought this for you guys."
"Thanks a lot," Ash said. "What is it thought," he questioned.
"Wel, you see, we know you both love Pokemon more than anything," Serena started.
"So we thought we'd get you something related to Pokemon," Leaf started.
"This is a brand new board game that just came out," Leaf said.
"It was made by the largest gaming companies in the world," Gary said.
"Wow. this is pretty cool," Red commented. "Thanks a lot guys."
"Hey, it's a 6 player game," Ash said excitedly. "What are we waiting for? Let's play." And so the friends sat down and carefully opened the package, setting the contents on the table in front of them. After reading the rules, they started playing the game, and didn't realize when 2 hours passed.
After these 2 hours, everyone else had to return home, leaving just Ash and Red. With just the two of them, it quickly got boring and they decided to return home themselves. They still had to check on the eggs they had received 5 years ago from Professor Oak. For some reason, the eggs still hadn't hatched, not that the twins had given up.
Every day, they would make sure to check on the eggs at least 4 or 5 times for any signs of hatching. So far, they had received none. It had left them quite worried. Delia herself thought that something may have happened to the egg, which is why it isnt hatching. Ever since they received the egg, the boys had made it a habit to visit Professor Oak's lab at least once every week so he could monitor the egg. Every time, he had discovered that nothing was wrong with the egg, meaning there was no reason for it to not hatch.
When the boys arrived home, they went straight up to their room. They looked over the eggs, but saw no reaction. Suddenly, both eggs started to glow a bluish color.
"MOM," Ash yelled. "COME UP HER QUICKLY.
"YEA, YOU HAVE TO SEE THIS," Red continued.
"Coming," Their mom said, as footsteps were heard coming up the stairs. Ash and Red turned back to the egg, but to their disappointment, the glow had disappeared and it had once again returned to its previous state.
"What happened, boys," Delia asked. "What's with all the screaming."
"You won't believe what happened mom!" Ash screamed excitedly.
"Yea. Both eggs glowed blue for a couple seconds, and then stopped." Red added.
"Wow. That means that the incubation process is about 50% done," Delia said, smiling.
"Wait what," Ash said crestfallen.
"We have to wait for 5 more years?" Red asked. "Aww, man."
I'm sure the wait will be worth it," Delia said to them. "In the meantime, why don't you boys go and visit Professor Oak. He has called 3 times now to wish you boys a happy birthday.
"Ok that sounds like a plan," Ash said.
"Let's get going then," Red said.
"See you later mom," the brothers said, waving at her.
-At Oak Labs-
About 10 minutes later the boys had arrived at the professor's lab, who had greeted them with a big hug. "Happy 10th birthday, boys," he said heartily. "Come on inside. I've got something for you two." He quickly ushered the boys into the lab, shutting the door behind him.
"So, I would like to ask you guys something first," Professor Oak said. "Would you like to work with me as Pokemon Researchers in training?" he asked. "Doing so will give you the opportunity to learn a lot more about Pokemon by helping me out here at the lab."
"Sure, I'm in," Ash agreed immediately.
"Me too, of course," Red said. "So what do we have to do as Pokemon Researcher's in training?" he asked.
"We'll come to that later. Now, this is my gift for you boys," he said, pointing to two circular badges. These show that you are junior members of the Pokemon Research Society, and can get you entry to many places where regular civilians would not be allowed."
"Wow, that's so cool Professor," Ash said, as Red nodded his head in agreement.
"I'm glad you like it," Professor Oak said. "So how are the eggs coming along."
"They actually started to glow today, professor," Red said excitedly.
"Oh! Then they must be halfway done." Professor Oak said. "I guess you'll just have to wait then."
"Hey professor, is it ok if we go and play in the woods today?" Ash asked.
"We'd like to meet some of the Pokemon in there as well," Red added.
"Of course," Professor Oak said. "Do be careful though," he added.
"Great. Thanks a lot, Professor," Ash said happily.
"Yea. Thanks. We will be careful professors. Don't worry about us," Red said, as the two boys walked out of the lab and headed down to the forest.
And that's it. That brings chapter 8 to an end. The ending was a bit abrupt, but there's a lot of stuff that I've planned for the Woods and I didn't want to make this chapter 10,000 words long, so the woods stuff will be in the next chapter.
This chapter was mainly a filler to introduce our very first OC and to showcase our heroes' birthdays.
Quick Summary: We saw Team Rocket abandon a female Eevee that they tried to experiment on and failed. The abandoned and injured Pokemon was taken in by a young and friendly boy named Chris, who promised that he would one day get revenge on the ones that hurt Eevee. We also time skipped to Ash and Red as 10-year-olds. We witnessed their birthday and saw that the eggs will hatch around the time they become trainers. They became a part of the Pokemon Researcher Society thanks to Professor Oak and have decided to study the Pokemon in Pallet Town Forest as their first assignment. What will happen in the forest? Well, you'll have to read the next chapter to find out.

Polls:
The poll for Ash's starter Pokemon will be up for another week (mostly in order to try for a tiebreaker for Pikachu and Riolu). After that, I'll move on to a different poll. Maybe pairings or Eeveelutions, stuff like that.
Ok, that's about it! I hope you enjoyed this chapter. Please remember to review, ask any questions you have, give suggestions, and vote in the polls. Constructive criticism will be greatly appreciated, as it'll help me become a better writer. If you guys liked the story, then please do favorite the story or follow it. Thanks!
