Hello. Welcome back, everyone. This is chapter 9. In the last chapter, we saw Chris Kasper, the first OC, taking in an abandoned, injured Eevee thrown aside by Team Rocket after their experiment on her failed. We saw him promise to get revenge and make Team Rocket pay for their crimes. We also saw Ash and Red's birthday. Thanks to Professor Oak, they became junior members of the Pokemon Research Society. We also noticed that they went to the woods right after to meet more Pokemon.

For those that reviewed the previous chapters, I've sent you a PM answering any questions you had and such. For those that use guest accounts while reviewing, I'll answer your questions and reply to your reviews in the Authors Note at the beginning of each chapter. There have been no new guest reviews since the last chapter.

Polls:

The results for Ash's poll at the end of this week are as follows:

Pikachu: 12 votes

Riolu: 12 votes

Charmander: 5 votes

Dratini: 4 votes

Froakie: 4 votes

Eevee: 2 votes

Bulbasaur: 1 vote

Squirtle: 0 votes

These are the final votes for Ash's poll. The tie between Riolu and Pikachu has not been broken, but I had a feeling that this would happen, so I already planned out what I would do in case Pikachu and Riolu were still tied at the end.

OC:

There are no important OCs in this chapter except for the Pokemon Poacher from the 3rd episode, who destroyed Pikachu's old home.

Let's get started...

-Within Pallet Town Forest (Pichu)-

Loud footsteps could be heard as a man angrily walked through the forest. These footsteps belonged to a Pokemon poacher, people who illegally caught and sold Pokemon for money. "I heard rumors that the rare Pichu I tried to catch years ago is living in these woods," he thought to himself. He had been searching for the Pichu for more than 5 hours now with no luck.

"Arrrgh," He yelled, kicking the nearest tree in anger. Suddenly, a small group of Pokemon ran past him. Apparently, they were playing tag with each other and the one they were trying to tag was none other than the same Pichu that the poacher was looking for. "So there you are," the poacher screamed, throwing a Pokeball. The Pokeball opened up to reveal the same Absol from before.

Noticing the evil glint in Absol's eyes, the other pokemon immediately ran for their lives. Leaving just Pichu, who staggered backward, frightened. "Now Absol, use your Hyper Beam attack," The poacher commanded. Absol opened his mouth, releasing a large beam of orange energy. "No not that powerful," The Poacher cried, but it was too late. The Hyper Beam hit the little Pichu full-on, throwing it up into the air and out of sight.

"Now look at what you've done, you fool," The poacher roared. Absol quietly whimpered and turned away as the poacher angrily kicked it in the face. "If we don't find that Pichu, I'll make sure you don't return from this forest alive," The poacher screamed. "DO YOU UNDERSTAND ME." Absol nodded its head, as the man returned the Pokemon to his Pokeball. "Stupid worthless Pokemon," He muttered under his breath, putting the Pokeball away, and continuing on deeper into the forest to search for Pichu.

-Professor Oak's Lab-

Ash and Red had just left Professor Oak's lab and were on their way to the forest. On the way, they were busy looking out for any Pokemon they could find. "Hey Ash, look at that," Red said, pointing to the trees at the entrance of the forest. "Those are Caterpie, right?"

"Yea!" Ash said excitedly. "And look at that, there's even some Metapod higher up," he said pointing to the top. Suddenly, the Metapod began to glow a bright white color. Ash and Red watched, transfixed as the cocoon around their bodies slowly disintegrated and a butterfly-shaped creature emerged from within.

"Wow," Red said. "They all evolved into Butterfree."

"That was awesome, I can't wait to tell Professor Oak about this," Ash said as the twins moved on into the forest.

-Within Pallet Town Forest (Ash + Red)-

Ash and Red were walking through the forest looking for different Pokemon. Over the last hour, they had come across many different types of Pokemon. From small Pokemon like Nidoran and Rattata to powerhouses like Snorlax and Arcanine. They were currently in the process of playing with some of the Pokemon in the forest.

"Catch me if you can, Growlithe," Ash said, running away from the Pokemon.

"Grow-Growlithe," Growlithe howled, before chasing after his target.

"Hey, let's help him out," Red said, calling the other Pokemon over. A Raticate ran over to help Growlithe along with some of its friends, a Nidorino, Nidorina, as well as some oddish and a family of Sandshrew. "Let's block his way so Growlithe can catch him," Red continued. The Pokemon rushed forward and tried to stop Ash. Sandshrew used Dig, appearing right below Ash, causing him to trip.

"Hey, that's not fair," Ash said, pouting, as Growlithe tagged him. Ash was about to go and chase after the Sandshrew that had caused him to trip, when they heard the sound of an explosion, and saw a small yellow figure fly through the air past them. "What was that," Ash shouted to Red.

"I don't know," Red said, "Let's go check it out though." Ash nodded and the brothers quickly ran off towards the figure.

In a couple of minutes they came to a small clearing and noticed the figure on the ground. Ash immediately recognized it as a Pichu, the pre-evolution of Pikachu, thanks to all the photos Ritchie had shown him years ago. "Oh no," Ash shouted. "Pichu, are you ok?"

"P-pi," Pichu said, struggling to get up. After a couple tries it managed to get back on its feet. Ash reached out to look at its wounds. "Pi-Pichu," The pokemon said, lightly zapping the boy, before collapsing once again.

"What could have done this to him," Red questioned, looking around the clearing.

"I don't know, but we really need to help it out," Ash said worriedly.

"I'll be taking that Pichu off your hands now," A voice said from behind them as the Pokemon Poacher walked into the clearing. "Hand over the Pokemon if you don't want to get hurt, kid," he said.

"Are you its trainer?" Ash and Red asked.

"Ha. Of course not," The poacher laughed. "But someone's going to pay me a large amount of money to bring him that rare Pokemon."

Ash and Red looked at each other, realizing that this was one of those poachers that they had heard of in the news multiple times. "No, we won't let you take Pichu," Ash said. None of them noticed the small, pink, feline Pokemon observing them. The Pokemon was watching, impressed with the Chosen Duo's refusal to accept the Poacher's demands.

"Is that how it is?" The Poacher asked. "Go Absol, crush those brats," He shouted, throwing the Pokeball into the air. At the sight of the Absol, Pichu whimpered and hid behind Ash's leg again.

"Let's go Absol, Hyper beam full power on those babies," The Poacher grunted. Absol opened its mouth to fire the large beam of energy. The mystery Pokemon was about to step in and block the attack when she felt a familiar presence around the forest. She smiled to herself, realizing that someone was present to look after the twins.

As Absol was preparing to fire the powerful attack, a voice was heard from the treetops. "Lucario, use Aura Sphere," the voice said. Immediately, a large blue sphere of energy appeared from the trees. The attack crashed into Absol, knocking it out and sending it crashing back into a tree.

"What!?" The poacher asked, alarmed. "Who's there," He shouted looking upwards. At this, two figures jumped out of the treetops. They did a backflip in the air before landing on the ground on one knee.

The man, whom Ash and Red recognized as the one who saved them 5 years ago, just smirked. "You may have the first move," he said with a smile.

"Ugh I'll show you," the poacher said. "Come out Tyranitar," he said. A Pokeball hanging from his belt opened up to reveal the massive green Pokemon. "Use your rock slide attack," He commanded

"TYYY-RAN-RANITAR," the Pokemon said. "He stomped on the ground, causing a large boulder to fly into the air in Lucario's direction.

"Lucario, use your Bone Rush attack," Sir Riley said, still smiling. "Destroy all the rocks." Lucario jumped into the air and put his fists together. As he pulled them apart, a long white bone materialized into his hands. Spinning the bone like a staff, Lucario charged at the rocks smashing through each before once again landing on the ground, letting the bone dissipate.

'Wow," Ash excitedly. "I didn't know you could use offensive moves that way." Sir Riley smiles, nodding his thanks.

"Now use your Force Palm attack," Riley commanded. "Follow up with a Mega Punch."

"Counter it with your own Mega Punch, Tyranitar," The poacher commanded. Tyrantiar roared, as his fists glowed green. The two Pokemon charged at each other. At the last second, Lucario ducked, causing Tyranitar's attack to go over his head. Ash and Red watched, fascinated, as Lucario made a sharp turn and slammed Tyranitar in the back with the Force Palm attack, eliciting a cry of pain from the Pokemon.

Immediately after, Lucario's fists glowed green as well, and he smashed Tyranitar in the side of the head with the powerful Mega Punch attack. The pseudo legendary couldn't take anymore and it collapsed on the ground, unconscious.

"Amazing, you defeated Tyranitar so quickly," Red said, awed.

The poacher's face grew red with anger as his Pokemon fainted. "Oh, yea? Then take this," he said, throwing 4 more Pokeballs into the air. The Pokeballs opened up to reveal a Rhyperior, Skarmory, a weirdly colored Salamence, as well as an Alakazam. "Get him," He shouted.

"Lucario, use your Close Combat on all of them," Sir Riley shouted. Lucario waited until the 4 strong Pokemon closed in on him. When they were close enough, he charged the closest one, releasing a super fast barrage of kicks and punches. Every couple hits, he would switch to a different Pokemon. "Now, end it with your strongest force palm on the ground," Sir Riley commanded. Lucario jumped into the air and rammed his palm into the ground. The attack generated a shockwave, blasting all the Pokemon backward, knocking them out in the process.

"GET UP AND FIGHT," The poacher shouted, but his Pokemon stayed motionless on the ground. The poacher growled angrily, before returning the Pokemon. "You'll pay for this," He said, before running off out of the forest onto route 1.

"No way," Ash said. "You took out all of his Pokemon so easily."

"That was awesome," Red continued. "Who are you?"

"I am Sir Riley of the Aura Guardians, boys," Sir Riley answered.

"Aura? What's that," Ash asked.

"Aura is an energy present within all living beings, and there are some people who have the rare ability to control this energy," Sir Riley explained. "I am one of those that are able to use Aura. People like me can join the Aura Guardians, where we use our powers to help those in need and teach others who also seem to show signs of being able to use Aura.

"You mean you can use Aura?" Red questioned.

"Yup," Sir Riley said. He raised his arm, creating a small aura sphere above it.

"Wow that's so cool," the twins said. "I wish we could do that too."

"You can. I can sense the aura within you. It is very powerful." Sir Riley said with a smile.

"Really?" Ash asked. "You think we may be able to do that too?"

"Wow, can you teach us how to use Aura?" Red questioned.

"Of course. With the proper training you boys could end up being the strongest Aura Guardians in the world," Sir Riley said.

Suddenly, the small pink Pokemon flew out of the trees, showing itself to Ash, Red, and Riley. "Lady Mew," Sir Riley questioned. "What are you doing here?" He then looked at Ash and Red. "This is the legendary Pokemon, Mew, the ancestor of all the Pokemon," He explained. The twins gasped in surprise, realizing that the small Pokemon before them was a Pokemon that researchers were beginning to doubt existed.

"Hello," Ash said. "You're a mythical Pokemon?" he asked.

"Does that mean you're super powerful?" Red questioned.

"Yup," Mew answered.

"Did you just talk? Ash asked.

"Do not be scared, children," Mew said. "I am using telepathy to speak with you. I live here in the Pallet Town forest. I was watching you both from the moment you entered, and was very impressed when you refused to move aside in order to help Pichu."

"Oh no!" Ash said, remembering the injured Pokemon. "Mew, can you help Pichu?" he asked. Mew nodded, before wrapping its pink tail around Pichu. It closed its eyes, as its body began to glow a light bluish color.

"What's she doing, Sir Riley," Red questioned.

"Mew is using her Heal Pulse attack to heal Pichu of its injuries," he answered.

"Wow that's awesome," they said together. Sir Riley just nodded, and the boys turned back towards Pichu. Mew's body had stopped glowing, and Pichu was sitting up. The scratches and burns on its body had all disappeared.

"I shall take my leave now," Sir Riley said. "Thanks for your help Lady Mew," he said waving at the Pokemon. "Ash, Red, it is time to start for you both to start your aura training. Meet me here at 9:00 tomorrow morning for your first lesson. Understand?" He said strictly. Both boys nodded their agreement, and Sir Riley gave one last smile before disappearing into the forest with Lucario.

The others turned their attention back to Pichu. "Hey Pichu," Ash said smiling. "Glad you're feeling better."

"Pi-chu-chu-pi," Pichu said, giving a thumbs up (That was nothing).

"Ok we've got to get going, Mew," Ash said, noticing that it had gotten quite late. "Mom's probably waiting for us back home."

"Before you boys leave, I'd like to give you both a gift," Mew said.

"No, it's ok," Ash said.

"Yea we don't need a reward for doing the right thing," Red continued.

"I insist. Think of it as a birthday gift," Mew said. She floated up next to them and touched her nose to their foreheads. The boys could immediately feel something passing from Mew into their minds, but didn't know what.

"Hmm I feel different, but what happened?" Ash asked.

"I'm wondering that too," Red said as the boys looked questioningly at Mew.

"I have given you my gift," Mew said chuckling. "You'll understand what it does quite soon. I hope you like it." With that, the mythical Pokemon waved goodbye, before disappearing from sight.

"Well, Red," Ash said. "Ready to go back home?"

"Yup. We have so much to tell Professor Oak and mum and everyone else now." Red added.

Suddenly, they both heard a voice in their minds. "I would very much appreciate it if you boys didn't mention me to anyone else," Mew said in their minds.

"Ok sure. We won't tell anyone about you, Mew," Ash said.

"Right. That'll be our little secret," Red said. When the twins walked home, they excitedly told Delia about everything that had happened, leaving out the part with Mew. Afterward, they realized how tired they were, and went upstairs to bed. They were asleep before their heads even hit the pillows.

-Within Pallet Town Forest (Pichu)-

Deep in the woods, a group of Kangaskhan were having dinner with their children, when one of them realized that the small Pichu they had taken in was missing.

"Hey, where's Pichu," The Kangaskhan asked. "He should have been here a while ago."

"What? Pichu's missing?" another one said. "Didn't he go to play with some of his other friends?"

"Let's start a search," another commented. "He can't have left the forest. He'll be around here."

"QUIET," the leader of the group commanded amidst the murmuring from the others. "Let's wait for a bit in case he shows up, then we can go and search for him.

A couple of minutes later, footsteps were heard and Pichu finally showed up.

"Where were you," the group leader asked. "We were all quite worried."

"Oh I have such a great story to tell you all," Pichu said.

"Ok, you can tell us over dinner," another one said, handing out berries. As dinner went on, the Kangaskhan listened with rapt attention to Pichu's story.

"You must be very tired then," another one said. Only then did Pichu realize how tired he was. His rush of adrenaline from the event had run out, leaving him feeling more fatigued than ever before.

"Yea. I think I'm going to go to bed," Pichu said. "Hmm. Maybe all humans aren't evil," Pichu thought as he succumbed to the darkness.

And that's the end of chapter 9.

It did take me a little bit of time to come up with this, but I really wanted to add in the first proper battle of the story. I think it wasn't too bad, but do let me know what you think about it. Aside from that, the last section of the chapter is in English and not in Pokespeech because this conversation was between 2 different Pokemon and all Pokemon can understand each other. Because of that, there was no point in writing it in Poke-speech and writing what they meant next to it in parentheses.

Quick Summary: After celebrating their birthday, Ash and Red had gone off to the forest to play with the Pokemon. While playing in the forest with the other Pokemon, they came across an injured Pichu and tried to help it. When a poacher appeared to take Pichu, Sir Riley appeared and defeated him. Mew, who was watching, shows up and gives Ash and Red a gift for their selflessness, and Sir Riley explains to them about Aura and offers to start training them to be Aura Guardians in the future. You guys will just have to wait to find out what Mew gave them as a gift.

Please try to make sure your OC's are not very overpowered, since I'm still early on in the story and will need mostly weaker characters at this point in time.

Polls:

The poll for Ash's starter Pokemon is now closed. The final results depict Pikachu and Riolu tied for 12 votes, so I've figured out a way to get around that. You'll see it soon. The next Poll on my profile will be for Eeveelutions. I've decided that I'll be giving an Eevee to Red, but most likely not to Ash to keep repeating Pokemon at a minimum.

Ok, that's about it! I hope you enjoyed this chapter. Please remember to review, ask any questions you have, give suggestions, and vote in the polls. Constructive criticism will be greatly appreciated, as it'll help me become a better writer. If you guys liked the story, then please do favorite the story or follow it. Thanks!

Peace Out and see you all next time.
