Hey guys so I know this is a slow-going story, but we are still here just getting to it when we can. Glad you are still with Tay and I though and I hope you enjoy the chapter...

Quinn practically bounced in her chair; she and Sam were going to find out the sex of the baby. He had been a little off lately, and yeah, he was being a bit ridiculous, making her go shopping and everything by herself. Still, she didn't fight it, and the only reason she didn't fight it was because Jane told her that Sam and Mercedes were practically over. So she tried her best not to be overbearing and to be the sweet Quinn he loved once before. And for the most part, it worked; he was almost sweet the few times she called for his help. It was like old times before the homewrecker came and destroyed things. And now that Mercedes was a nonfactor, they could be a family again. She looked over to Sam and beamed; she wondered if he noticed she was wearing her engagement ring again.

"I can't believe that we are going to find out what we are having! I want a boy. I can't wait to give you a son. He will grow up just as handsome and as smart as you." She said, looking lovingly into his eyes. She reached her hand over to his, letting her thumb caress his. Now was his turn to say he wanted a daughter as beautiful as she was. She thought, waiting for him to respond.

"Yea, that's cool," Sam said, barely paying attention to Quinn. He couldn't get Mercedes out of his mind. He was trying to give her space to figure things out, but after seeing that sonogram, it was taking everything in him to not drive by her place. He wanted to be there for her and their child. But she had some valid points, and he didn't want to cause her unnecessary stress.

Quinn looked at him tilting her head to the side. "Sam? Sam! That's cool? That's all you have to say? This is an important day!" She was certain that this was the day Sam would see her as more than his ex.

"Mrs. Evans, we can take you and your husband back." The nurse said.

Sam was about to respond to Quinn when he heard what the nurse said.

Quinn beamed even more. "Okay."

But before Sam could correct the nurse, Quinn stood up and followed her into the exam room. He stepped into the room, and once the door was closed, decided to set the record straight.

"Uh, nurse ma'am, we are not married. She is Quinn Fabray... we're not even a couple."

Quinn glanced at Sam with wide eyes but didn't say anything; she just ignored the nurse feeling embarrassed, and sat on the table. As the nurse left, Quinn glared at Sam. "You know I have dealt with a lot from you, but you don't have to embarrass me like that. Her calling me Mrs. Evans wasn't a big deal."

"If it's not a big deal, then why does it embarrass you that I corrected her?"

Quinn looked at him. "Because I already went along with it. Why are you so angry? This is a great day."

"I'm not angry. Maybe annoyed a bit." Sam tried to shake off his frustration at this whole situation because today was supposed to be a good day for them, but he can't be happy when he and Mercedes are on the outs. "Sorry. I won't take my annoyance out on you."

Quinn smiled internally; this was her in. She nodded, placing her hand over his. "Are you okay? If you wanna talk, I am here."

Quinn was the last one he needed to talk about this. "It's fine. I've talked to Mike and Blaine enough. I just want to get this sonogram over with, so I can just sleep it off." He checked his phone to see if he had any new texts or new voicemails from Mercedes. He had been checking all day and was met with disappointment when he saw that there was none. "Where is this doctor?"

Quinn frowned. "I just want to help Sam, I know that you don't want to be with me, but honestly, we have to at least be friends." She looked at the time. "She should be in here soon." Quinn moved closer to Sam and took his hand. "I am here for you, just like I was before and how I always will be."

"I have no problems being friends; I just have a problem when you take advantage of our friendship. You have to accept the fact that we're not getting back together. And respect my relationship. If you can do that, then everything will be good between us. Our child deserves parents who can get along with each other and not manipulate each other."

Quinn linked her fingers with Sam's. "I can respect that. I just want us to be good for this baby right here." She leaned over and kissed his cheek. "We are gonna be okay, and we are gonna be amazing parents for this child."

Sam gave Quinn a small smile because that's what he wanted. For them to be friends and to be good parents.

The Doctor came in and smiled at both of them. "So, how is the mommy to be? Getting enough sleep and food?" She asked Quinn as she sat in front of the computer, ready to input some information in."

Quinn smiled as the Doctor came into the room. "I am great. I feel like I am growing every day. And this little one keeps kicking me so much."

The Doctor nodded. "Well, let's sit back and see what we are having. You both want to know what you are having, right?"

"I'm just hoping for a healthy baby." Sam nodded. Despite everything that was going on, this was his child, and he'd be lying if he said he wasn't a little bit curious to know what they were having.

The Doctor placed the gel onto Quinn's stomach, and Quinn looked at Sam. "Can you hold my hand?"

Sam nodded at Quinn and took her hand. He was anxious. "Are you okay?"

Quinn held Sam's hand tight. "I am great, just nervous…."

The Doctor smiled. "That is normal. Okay, guys, let's find out if you are gonna have a son or a daughter."

Quinn held her breath, looking at the screen. "What is it?"

The Doctor smiled. "It's a...girl. You guys have a baby girl on the way."

Quinn smiled brightly. "Sam! Sam, it's a girl."

Sam couldn't stop his smile. He was going to have a baby girl. He didn't know what to say, except, "wow."

The Doctor pointed out a few photos and smiled, wiping Quinn's stomach. "Well, I will let you guys have a minute. Everything looks great; schedule your next appointment upfront. Good luck, mom and dad."

Quinn looked at the photo sitting up and wiping her eyes. "This is our baby girl Sam. Our girl."

Sam smiled at the photo. "You know, since you first told me you were pregnant, It didn't seem real to me, not until this very moment. Looking at the first picture of our daughter." Sam was happy. He was going to have a baby girl, but Mercedes came to his mind at the same time. And at that moment, he knew he wanted to be there with her through everything. He had good news to share, and it wouldn't feel real unless she was there to share it with him. And he wanted to be there for all of her appointments.

"This is so amazing Sam, I really am so happy. We should go celebrate. This is a huge thing."

He took out his phone to text her.

Sam: Hey, Mercedes. I just want to say that I miss you so much and am wondering if I could stop by. I get if you don't want me to… I just need to see you.

She looked at him and watched him. "Who are you texting?"

Mercedes: I don't know Sam, I am not really feeling well right now.

Sam: Are you sick? Is it the baby? How about I come by and bring some chicken soup? I can distract the twins, so they don't bother you too much. Or I can just drop the soup off and stay in the guest room just in case… please.

Sam put his phone away and turned to Quinn. He decided to ignore her question. "How about a rain check on celebrating. Do you need to make a stop before I take you home?"

Mercedes: Just the baby being a baby. I have had really bad mornings, well, everyday sickness, and with that, work and the twins, it's been a lot.

Quinn frowned, "I know you have a life Sam, I just thought that with us trying to be friends and then finding out we have a daughter, it would be a good time for us to celebrate. But I guess I am not really a priority. I will just find my own way home; it's fine." She stood grabbing her things, wondering if he was going to stop her or not.

Sam: So let me stop by and help you out, at least until you're feeling a bit better.

"Quinn, I just have a lot of things on my mind. We are friends, but like I said, I can't celebrate with you. And stop being dramatic. I can take you home."

Mercedes: Can you bring some cookies and cream ice cream?

Mercedes: No Strawberry Milkshake and French Fries from DQ

Quinn sighed; she was playing the long game after all. "Okay, Sam, I am sorry, pregnancy hormones and everything. Can you actually take me to your parents? Your mom wants me to stop by and tell her what we are having."

Sam chuckled at Mercedes not being able to choose.

Sam: How about I bring all three. Just in case you change your mind."

"My mom's house? You can't just tell her over the phone? We're not really on speaking terms. I can drop you off, but I'm not going inside. I have plans this evening that can't be changed.

Mercedes: Okay, I supposed that's a good idea.

Quinn shook her head. "She said she had some things for me. I am sure I can get Finn or someone to drive me home." Quinn walked to the door. "That's fine; I assume they are with Mercedes. I am glad you guys are working it out. You know, after all the drama."

Sam: I'll see you in 30?

"I appreciate you saying that, Quinn. And yes, I'm trying to work things out with Mercedes, and I know that's hard for you to hear after everything. But she's it for me… anyway, are you ready?" He stood up and made his way to the door.

Quinn nodded. "Sam, all I ever wanted was for you to be happy, that's it, and if Mercedes is it for you, then I am happy for you." She put on her most convincing smile. Mercedes may have had Sam, but Quinn knew that he would come back to her as long as she had his child.

"Yep, let's go." Sam appreciated Quinn saying that, and he believed her. Now all he needed was for him and Mercedes to be back together, and then everything would feel right in his world.

He held the car door open for Quinn to get in before getting behind the wheel and sped off towards his parent's house. The car ride was kind of quiet, but Sam didn't mind. It gave him more time to think about what he was going to do to get Mercedes back. Once he got to his parent's house, he parked. "Here we are. I hope you get home safe after you finish here."

Quinn smiled. "Thank you, Sam. I am sorry that you and your parents aren't getting along. Still, with our daughter on the way, nothing is more important than her having a family and all the support she can get. Sam, you and I both know that she will feel as left out as I did growing up without love. I can't have that for her, not ever."

Quinn made a good point. He didn't want his daughter surrounded by all of that tension. But there were some things that he couldn't let go of. "I get what you are saying, but there are things that aren't easily forgiven...and that fact that they can't accept Mercedes in my life is one of those things."

There was her opening. There was what she had been waiting for. "What if they saw us getting along. Saw us being mature and just happy to be having our daughter? My heart is breaking at all this divide."

She pushed the tears out easier due to her hormones and turned to the window. "I'm sorry, I'm just emotional right now. I know they were upset at you guys dating and Mercedes taking that job with your competitors, but I am sure if we are united, they will come around." And giving you your job back would turn you and Mercedes against each other, Quinn thought.

Sam hated seeing Quinn cry, especially since she was pregnant and deserved to have a stress-free pregnancy. "I hear what you're saying, and I'll make more of an effort so that our daughter will have a happy family. But it's not going to be easy. My parents are stubborn, and what they want, I can't give." Sam wasn't going to give up Mercedes just to make his parents happy. "But don't cry about this right now. Things will get better for our daughter. Just focus on bringing her into this world." He smiled as he rubbed her back. He may not have loved her, but he did care for her as the mother of his daughter.

Quinn smiled internally as she leaned into Sam. Laying on his chest, she sniffed. "Thanks, Sam; I wouldn't be able to do all this without you." She held onto him, taking a deep breath. "I just want to make sure she is happy too. Make sure that she knows her parents love her more than anything and anyone in this world." She sighed, snuggling close. "I know you have to go, and I just want to thank you for dropping me off and talking to me."

Sam rubbed her back in a circular motion before gently pulling back. "No problem Quinn. I'm here for you whenever you need me." He smiled at her as she got out of his car and made sure she made it in before pulling off. He had to pick up ice cream, milkshake, and fries to take to his Mercedes. He hoped that this talk they were about to have would heal them so they can get on with their future together.

Mercedes sat on the sofa, eyes closed as she listened to the twins laughing and playing their Nintendo Switches. She wasn't sure she wanted Sam to come over; they hadn't really spoken in a while. Their last real conversation in person was when he came to her office, and she told him she was pregnant.

She loved Sam, she knew she did, but she was tired. Tired of Quinn being the center of their relationship, tired of Sam running when Quinn said jump, and tired of feeling like Sam was only with her because he was rebelling against his family. But no matter the situation, he was the father of her child, and they at least needed to be on the same page.

"Guys, when Sam comes, I am gonna talk to him in my room."

"Are Stevie and Stacey with him?" Miles asked, looking up.

"Not this time, I don't think. But don't worry, I will make sure you see them this weekend. With spring break coming up, maybe we can all work something out."

The twins nodded, going back to their games. Mercedes wasn't feeling like talking to Mary or Dwight, but she would do it if it meant making the twins happy.

Sam pulled up to Mercedes's place with her goodies but hesitated. He didn't know how this conversation was going to turn out, and that made him nervous. Should he beg or just let her take the lead? He sat in his car for a few more minutes, just trying to get his nerves together.

He walked up and rang her doorbell, hoping that he didn't seem as nervous as he felt.

Mercedes took a deep breath and walked to the door; she opened the door and smiled. "Hey, Sam, come on in." She moved to the side and bit her lip, looking at him. "Let's take this to my room so we won't disturb the twins. They are in the middle of an epic battle."

She said, walking away from him and towards her room.

Sam followed her towards her room, curious about the epic battle the twins were in. "What kind of battle?"

"Mario kart." She said softly. "They are tied with wins, so you can see this is serious."

She moved to sit on the bed. "So you wanted to talk?"

"Uh, yea, but first, I brought you some treats." He gave her the bag full of goodies.

Taking the bag, she nodded. "Thanks." As tempted as she was to dig into the bag, she didn't want to be distracted. Whatever they had to talk about needed to be said now.

"So let's talk."

He stands across from Mercedes, leaning against her dresser. "I saw the sonogram; how far along are you exactly?"

Mercedes bit her bottom lip; this had Kurt written all over it. "I'm 13 weeks or three months." She said softly.

"That far?" Sam can't believe that he didn't notice a change with her. "Did you know the whole time?"

Mercedes cut her eyes at him. "NO!" She shook her head. "I thought it was stress. I was sick to my stomach and tired all the time, but I had a new job; I was dealing with you and Quinn, so I just didn't put two and two together."

She wiped a stray tear. "When I told you, I had known for two days."

"Oh, you didn't have any idea?" This pregnancy really crept upon them. But he really wanted them to be a family.

She shook her head no. "I told you as soon as I could. The ultrasound was just to confirm it."

"I wish I could have been there with you. I love you, Mercedes, and this baby, and to see the ultrasound second-hand like that. I want to be there for everything."

Mercedes took a deep breath. "I wanted you to be there, but you've been all about Quinn, and I just wasn't sure you'd have time to come."

Sam could see how his previous actions would have caused her to think that way. But he needed to show her that she was his priority. "I have been neglecting you for Quinn and the baby, and that stops now. I've been so obsessed with being a good dad that I didn't see how it affected you. But I love you, Mercedes, and I want us to be a family. You are my priority."

"Why because I'm pregnant?! I wasn't before."

"No, it has nothing to do with the pregnancy. I loved you from the day you spilled coffee on me and cursed me out. No one has ever challenged me as you do. My love for you has just grown over this past year."

"You mean when you spilled your coffee on me." She said, giving a soft smile. "Sam, I love you; you know I do. But with everything that happened, I don't know if I trust you if I can trust your words."

"I understand your lack of trust in me, but how can I prove to you that you mean the world to me. I mean, I left my family so that we could be together in peace. I took whatever hardships just to be with you. Doesn't that mean anything?"

Mercedes bit her bottom lip. "It means everything, Sam, but you broke my heart and my trust. It's just gonna take some time to earn it back. If you want to earn it back. I love you, +and I am happy we are pregnant, but I need you to show me that I am yours. I need you to prove that I mean more."

She wiped her tears. "Actions speak louder than words."

All Sam wanted to do was take her in his arms and hold her and assure her that everything would be alright. Instead, he sat next to her on the bed. "From here on out, I will show you that I am the man you fell in love with. I already spoke with Quinn and told her that she has to respect my relationship with you. She understands that I'm not going to be doing all of these crazy errands for her."

He doesn't know what to say because, like he said, actions speak louder than words. "I will prove to you that you are my priority from here on out."

Mercedes listened to him, she wanted to believe him, trust him with her heart again, but he said all those things before. The only thing that was different now was because she was pregnant, and if that was the case, her heart would break more.

"Why now, Sam? I mean, she interfered on dates, family time, you would leave me just because she had a craving. What makes right now different?"

"I had this insane idea of what a good father is. I always had both of my parents there for me from the time I was born. I guess I felt that this child with Quinn would grow up with their parents in separate households, and I guess I was overcompensating a bit. But I realize now that she can still have a good life without me catering to Quinn's every need. I want my daughter to grow up with both parents involved in her everyday life. And for her to have a good life, both parents need to be happy as well. And the only way I can be completely happy is with you in my life."

Sam realized he had been rambling, so he took a breath. He doesn't know if what he said made any sense. He was never good at expressing his feelings, especially with someone he was in love with.

Mercedes bit her bottom lip as she stared at him. Everything he said made sense, and as much as she wanted to just give in and kiss him, love him, and live happily ever after, but there were still so many things to discuss. "Sam, I am sorry that you missed the sonogram, but honestly, I felt like you are doing all this with Quinn; why would you want to do this with me too. I mean, you won't even move in with me."

Standing, she sighed. "I can do this alone, Sam. I want you here; I want you to be a part of this, but I have done this before. Taking care of Maddie and Miles, I know how to handle this. I have a great job, and I don't need you to be here if it's guilt keeping you. Guilt that I am pregnant, and now you are stuck with me, I don't need that; I would rather be alone. So I need to know what this is for you, is this guilt? Love? Fear?"

Sam knew he did a terrible job at making Mercedes feel secure in their relationship. Still, to actually hear her say it made him feel shitty. "Guilt? Mercedes, I feel a lot of things for you, and guilt isn't one of them. I don't feel stuck with you at all. In fact, I'm afraid that I can't fix this, and we won't be able to have our happily ever after."

He stood up off the bed and walked closer to her. "This pregnancy is a surprise, and it actually scared me how happy I was that we were bringing a child in this world together. If anything, it just opened my eyes to the kind of life that I want with you. I want us to be a family. I know you can do this all on your own, but I don't want you to. I want to be there for you every step of the way, and not just as the father of your child, but as your man."

Mercedes gave a small smile. "My man, huh? You wanna be my man Sam Evans?"

Sam chuckled. "I thought that was obvious, Mercedes Jones." He said as he stepped closer to her. "So can I be your man? I'll get down on bended knee if you want me to."

Mercedes shrugged. "Leave your resume, and I will let you know." She teased. "I do have something to show you, though. She walked over to the dresser and pulled out her baby doppler so she could let Sam hear something extraordinary.

Moving to the bed, she sat down and lifted her shirt. "I really wanted you there for this, but doing it right here between you and me, I think it's more intimate."

Sam looked curiously at Mercedes, not sure what to expect. "What's that?"

Mercedes smiled at him. "It's called a doppler, and it will allow you to hear a baby's heartbeat. I want you to listen to something."

Mercedes added the gel to her stomach and then turned the doppler on, placing it on her stomach and waiting for the sound to fill the air. A few moments later, two heartbeats are heard beating loudly and fast.

Sam's eyes lit up as the sound of the heartbeats filled the room. Sam sat down on the bed beside Mercedes. "That's our baby?" Sam smiled at how strong the heartbeat was and how fast. He wished he was at the hospital, but this is the next best thing. "It's strange hearing your heartbeat along with our baby. It's also soothing."

Mercedes took a deep breath. "Sam, I have something to tell you. That's not our baby, and that's not my heartbeat."

"What do you mean?" Sam was confused at that statement. He hoped she didn't mean what he thought she meant.

She closed her eyes, this might very well break him, and she wasn't sure he was ready for it. "Sam, those are our babies; we are having twins."

Shock rendered him speechless. "Twins?... Two babies? As in two?" Sam couldn't process his thoughts fast enough. He was trying everything to keep calm, but that was a difficult thing to do.

Mercedes nodded, looking at him; she hadn't told anyone about the twins, and seeing Sam's reaction scared her; she didn't know if he was gonna be upset or not. "Yeah, I mean twins run in both our families. It shouldn't be a surprise even though it is."

"Yea, it does. I just never thought I would have twins. I didn't ever think I'd be that lucky." He breaks out in a smile. "I figured that we would have multiple kids together; it's just happening sooner." Sam was already thinking of names. "God, I wonder if they will be a boy and girl or two boys and two girls." Sam didn't have a preference as long as they were healthy. He turned to Mercedes. "How do you feel about all of this?"

Mercedes glanced at him; he was taking this so much better than she thought he would. "You are okay? I mean, this is a lot Sam, we are having twins; Quinn is having a child that's three children at once. And we don't even know where we stand this is so much."

"I'm surprisingly happy. I love you, Mercedes, and this is our family. I'm willing to fight for this if you are."

Mercedes felt tears well up in her eyes. "I am still scared, Sam, but I love you, and I love these twins and Maddie and Miles, and we are a family, but that fear is still there, just a little less now." She wiped her eyes as she removed the doppler and held her stomach. "So what now, Sam?"

Sam hated seeing Mercedes cry. He put his arm around her and brought her to his chest. This is the first time he touched her in a while, and he missed it. He missed everything about her. "Well, if it's okay with you, I would like to move in with you. I want to be a part of your life as well as the babies. I want to be here for you every step of the way. Just let me prove to you that you, as the love of my life, are my top priority."

Mercedes felt her eyes widened when he asked her to move in. "Really?" She wasn't sure why he didn't want to do it before but the fact that he finally asked her if he could move in. "I want you here, Sam, for all of it, I want us. Of course, you can move in." She hugged him tightly, letting her emotions get the best of her; being pregnant made her vulnerable in a way that she didn't care for. "I love you."

"I love you too." He kissed her gently on her forehead. "I can't wait to take this journey with you."

Mercedes glanced up at him, searching his eyes to see if he was truly happy, and she smiled, seeing nothing but happiness and love in his eyes. She stood on her tippy toes, kissing him softly as she wrapped her arms around his neck. "How soon are we thinking you will move in cause I have missed having you hold me."

He wrapped his arms around her waist. "I was thinking as soon as this weekend. Pretty sure Blaine will help speed this up. He's been dying for some alone time with Kurt without me interrupting them or whatever." He said with a slight chuckle. "Will Maddie and Miles approve of this new arrangement, though?"

"They have been asking when you were going to move in, so I am sure they will be okay with it." Mercedes laid her head on his shoulder; it was good not to have to be strong for once, to lean on him. She closed her eyes, enjoying the moment.

Quinn checked the time; it had been over an hour since Sam left her; that was enough time for him to do whatever he needed to do. She whipped out her phone and dialed his number, smiling to herself as she waited for him to answer.

Sam loved having Mercedes in his arms. It seemed like everything was back on track, and that made him happy. While he was savoring the moment, he felt his phone vibrate. He didn't want the moment to end with Mercedes, so he let it go to voicemail. If it was necessary, they would leave a message.

"So, how about we break the news to the twins over pizza?"

Quinn frowned as his phone went to voicemail, unsure why he wasn't answering, so she called again.

Mercedes nodded with a bright smile. "Just so happens I have been craving Pizza. With mushrooms and onions. And we can tell the twins about the twins. I am sure they will be excited about that."

She noticed his phone was vibrating as he held her, but she didn't care if Sam wasn't worried about the call, neither was she.

"Okay, as long as we can order two pies, not a fan of mushrooms at all." He felt his phone vibrate again, and this time he broke his embrace with Mercedes just to see who was calling him.

Seeing that it was Quinn, he sent one of those generic texts that he would call her later and turned his attention back to Mercedes. "So, I'm starving. Do you want to call the pizza place? Or should I?"

Mercedes smiled brightly; how about you call, and I will dig into the ice cream you brought me because mama has a craving." She said, leaning up to kiss him once more. Things were looking up, and for the first time in a long time, she really felt truly happy.

Mercedes made her way to the kitchen, grabbed the ice cream, and sat in the living room, where Miles teased Maddie over his win.

Sam took out his phone and began looking for the nearest pizza shop. "Hey, babe, what pizza place do you want me to order from?"

Mercedes handed him the menu of their favorite place and looked over to the twins. "Hey guys, what kind of pizza are you feeling today?"

"Pepperoni, do you even need to ask?" Maddie said, glancing over at Sam and then back to Mercedes. She eyed Miles, who was doing the same thing. "Somethings up." She said matter of factly.

Quinn tried to remain calm as Sam sent her one of those texts you use when you are ignoring someone. She took a breath as she redialed his number; this was not how this was supposed to go.

Sam took the menu, and as soon as he began to dial the number, he saw Quinn's number pop up on his phone. He walked further into the kitchen, away from everyone else, as he took the call.

"What is it, Quinn? Why are you blowing up my phone?" He was annoyed. He didn't need her blowing up his phone while he was just getting in Mercedes' good graces.

Hearing Sam on the other end, she could listen to his annoyance, and she had to act fast. "Sam! Thank God you answered; I think someone is outside my door. Those damn paparazzi are here, and I can't even leave the house. Can you come over?"

"Come over? No, I can't. What do you expect me to do about paparazzi?"

"You can come here and make me feel better; I mean, your daughter could get hurt with all this stress; it's not fair to her that they are doing this and stressing me out! You promised you would be here for us, Sam."

Sam pinched the bridge of his nose. "Listen, just stay in the house away from the windows. Take a bath or something to calm yourself down. Light a candle, and just relax. I can't be there right now. I'm busy at the moment. You and our daughter will be fine. It's not like they are in your apartment with the cameras in your face."

"So you just aren't coming? How is that fair?" She swallowed, wondering if the fake crying would work again. "Sam, I know you are busy, and I just didn't even want to call you, but I am worried. Can you at least bring me something to eat?"

He sighed as he peeked at Mercedes eating her ice cream. "Listen, what do you want to eat?"

Quinn smiled when she got him. "Can I get Arby's? We could use a roast beef sandwich right about now."

"Just a roast beef sandwich? Anything else?"

"Fries and a sprite, and that's it. You should get something for you too."

"Nah, I'm good. And you know, you shouldn't really be drinking soda while pregnant. It's not the best thing for the baby."

Quinn smiled. "You are so right; I love how you are so concerned for our daughter. I'll get a sweet tea, extra ice."

"Sounds good. It should be there in less than an hour. Sit tight."

"Thank you, Sam." Quinn beamed as she hung up the phone. Now all she had to do was find something sexy to wear; it was time to seduce Sam right into her bed.

Sam hung up the phone with Quinn and then dialed Mike.

"Hello?" Mike was glad to hear from Sam. He knew he was having a tough time, and he wanted to be there for him.

"Mike, I need a favor." Sam learned his lesson, and he hoped that Mike could help him.

"Sure, what's up?" Sam never really asked him for anything, so Mike was eager to know what the favor was.

"Can you go to Arby's and pick up some food for Quinn? I'm with Mercedes, and we're about to eat and talk to the twins."

"Wait, you're actually letting someone else bring Quinn her things instead of doing it yourself? I'm impressed."

"Why is that so surprising?

"Because you can't ever seem to say no to Quinn. It's good to see you actually do it."

"Whatever, so can you do it?

Mike chuckled. "Yea, I'll see if Jane wants to do it, and if not, I'll do it. No worries. But I have a question.

"Okay?"

"Why can't she just uber eats it or something?" Mike didn't know why Quinn couldn't have the things she asked Sam for. The baby wasn't even here yet.

"She is having problems with the paparazzi. They are camped out in front of her place, so she just wants me to come or something like that. But I have to go; text me when you drop off the stuff.

"You didn't tell me what she wanted?"

"Oh, yea. A roast beef sandwich, fries, and sweet tea with extra ice."

"Okay, I'll get started on that now and text you when it's done."

"Thanks, man, I owe you one." He hangs up with Mike, feeling proud of himself for delegating. But he knows he is going to have another talk with Quinn because he can't be at her beck and call.

Mercedes stood as the twins started playing again. She walked over to Sam and smiled. "Hey, is everything okay?"

"Yea, everything is fine. I'm just going to order the Pizza, and then we can get started on that talk." Sam pulled out his phone and began dialing the pizza place. After a few rings, they picked up. "Yea, can I have two large pepperoni pizza pies? And a two-liter Sprite?" Sam confirmed the address and the price before hanging up. He turned to Mercedes, "They should be here in 30 minutes."

Mercedes leaned against the counter. "Sounds good. Should we talk to the twins now or after we eat?" She asked, looking at him. "I think we should do it now. Get it out the way.".

"We can talk to them now since we have half an hour until the food arrives. Hopefully, by that time, we had a nice talk."

She nodded. "Welp, let's go."

Mercedes took Sam's hand and walked him back into the room with the twins. She smiled, looking at them still playing Mario kart. "Hey, guys, can we talk to you about something?"

Maddie looked at Mercedes and then Sam. "Are you guys breaking up or something?"

Mercedes shook her head. "No, no, umm, I wanted...well, we wanted to talk to you because I know there have been a lot of changes, with the moving and everything. And I know I haven't been feeling my best lately."

Sam felt a little bad that Maddie's first thought was that they were breaking up. But it was all his fault for everything that has been happening in their lives lately. "I get why you think that we would be breaking up, and I know things haven't been the best lately. But I think this news will change how you may see things in the best way." Sam looked at Mercedes. Wondering if she would just tell them or if she wanted him to say it.

Miles looked at him. "What do you mean?"

Mercedes chewed her bottom lip. "I'm pregnant, and before you say anything, this won't change us for the bad, I promise. I know it's a lot to take in."

Maddie smiled. "You guys are having a baby?"

Mercedes chewed her bottom lip. "We are having two babies."

Miles sat back quietly while Maddie squealed.

Sam took Maddie squealing as a good thing. Though he was worried about Miles' quiet demeanor. "Miles, are you okay, buddy?"

"I won't have to share my room, will I? I just got my space." Miles said, looking at Sam.

Sam chuckled before shaking his head. "Not at all. The baby will have its own nursery. So you will keep your room to yourself." Sam was relieved that Miles was just worried about his room.

Miles nodded, and Maddie sat next to Mercedes. "You know I thought you were just an emotional mess, but in truth, you were just hormonal from the babies."

"Maddie! That's just rude."

She shrugged. "It's the truth."

Miles snorted. "You cried watching a commercial."

Mercedes threw the pillow at him. "It was a sad commercial."

"Merce, it was about dogs!" Mercedes laughed.

"Hey! That dog waited forever for his family to return home!"

Sam laughed; he knew exactly what the kids meant. Mercedes cried at almost everything these days. "Don't worry, babe, it's cute. Plus, it will be over once the baby drops."

At that moment, the doorbell rang, and before Sam could get up to get the door, Miles ran ahead of him.

"Pizza's here!" Miles yelled. He grabbed the pizza box and brought it to the living room. "The guy is waiting for the money." Sam shook his head. "I thought you were paying for it with how fast you ran to the door." He joked as he made his way to the door, wallet in hand, and paid the pizza delivery guy.

As he made his way back to the living room, his phone started buzzing; it was a text message from both Mike and Quinn. Mike confirmed that he dropped off Quinn's food, but Quinn's texts showed how pissed off she was. Sam sent an okay to Mike and just ignored Quinn's. He looked at Mercedes, and her siblings laughing and eating and loved how happy the scene looked. Quinn was not going to ruin the night for him.

"Anyone up to watch a movie?" He asked as he sat down next to Mercedes. This was the happiest and relaxed he felt in weeks, and he wanted to do whatever to keep it like this.
