Chapter one

After the Battle of Hogwarts, the ones left alive wondered how they would recover. There were so many deaths and so much destruction. Half the teachers at Hogwarts died. The ministry only had less than half of the staff it used to have. Shops were destroyed but the owners or shop assistants were killed as well.

People like Garrick Ollivander would recover to make wands again but it would take him a long time to heal before he could begin work. Madam Malkin survived but the girls that worked in the shop, all died.

There were no goblins left at Gringotts, so the interim minister for magic, Kingsley Shacklebolt had assigned people like Bill and Fleur Weasley to run the bank. There were ten humans that worked for Gringotts that had survived so they were now acting as bankers. They weren't doing what the goblins did, they mainly assisted people who needed to go to their vaults or deposit money. Not many were depositing, most were withdrawing.

With how many died and whole family lines had died, they needed a someone who specialised in doing a heritage test to determine if there was anyone who could inherit the vaults, otherwise that money would just sit in vaults going to waste. Kingsley was able to find one unspeakable who had the skills to perform heritage tests and since most of the ministry was shut down, the unspeakable spent his days at Gringotts.

With Lucius Malfoy being sent through the death veil and his wife and son ending up in Azkaban for life, the Malfoy money and properties were split between Andromeda Tonks, sister to Narcissa Malfoy and Harry Potter. Since Harry was made heir by his godfather Sirius Black and Harry's own great great grandmother had been born a Black, he and Andromeda were the closest living people to Narcissa Malfoy, nee Black. There was no blood family left of Lucius Malfoy. Harry and Andromeda also got the vault that belonged to Bellatrix Lestrange. As she was born a Black, her money and her husband's money went to the last people with Black blood. There were no one left related to the Lestrange's in the magical world.

That wasn't the only money or properties Harry had inherited. The unspeakable found out that Harry Potter and Tom Riddle were distantly related, very distantly and there was no other living relatives of Tom Riddle.

This happened to quite a number of people. The Weasley family ended up inheriting two vaults which was considerable. They weren't rich but they would never have to struggle again. Susan Bones who was the last of her family inherited everything from her parents who died in the first war with Voldemort, then she inherited everything from her aunt who had died during Susan's sixth year at Hogwarts. She also inherited another vault of a distant relative.

Daphne Greengrass, who came from a neutral family was the only survivor in her family, she too inherited not only her family's vault, but three vaults of distant and now deceased relatives.

Neville Longbottom who would inherit everything from the Longbottom's when he turned twenty one, also inherited another vault.

When the unspeakable was creating a history of families that died and the families that still had surviving members or member, he found something surprising. Not only was Harry Potter related to Voldemort who was the Heir of Slytherin, which made Harry the last Heir of Slytherin. But he was also the last blood descendant of Godric Gryffindor. One of Harry's ancestors that left the magical world when he married a muggle was one of Gryffindor's great grandsons. For hundreds and hundreds of years that family were muggles, until one day a witch was born, Lily Evans. Harry had been shocked first to find out he was blood related to Voldemort which meant he was blood related to Slytherin. But now he was even more shocked to learn about his mother being related to Gryffindor. The unspeakable had told Harry it meant that even though the family was muggles for a long time, his mother was never truly a muggleborn, she was a pure blood. The magical family tree showed the line of all magical descendants.

One heritage test that was done found out that Lucius Malfoy wasn't a true pure blood, he was quarter veela. He hid his heritage from everyone, including his wife and son. It didn't matter now as Lucius was dead and Narcissa and Draco were serving life sentences in Azkaban. But it would show people that just believing what someone says, didn't make it true.

Harry was sitting in the small living room in the head boy room that he had been using after the Battle of Hogwarts. He wanted to remain at Hogwarts to help with the repairs, which couldn't start until everything was documented, for the future history books. He was trying to work out what he wanted to do with his life now he survived. He never really had any plans because he always thought he would die during the war with Voldemort. It never entered his thoughts that he would survive. He finds out his the heir of two of the founders, he's extremely rich but had no idea what to do with the life he didn't expect to have.

When he heard a knock on the door, he flicked his wand so the door opened, 'Hi Kingsley, come in.'

'You couldn't be bothered to get up to open the door, you had to use magic,' Kingsley smirked making Harry chuckle.

'I'm just tired and I really didn't feel like getting up. What are you doing here when you have a country to run?'

Kingsley laughed then took a seat, 'I was working on our country, when I got some surprising visitors.'

'Oh blimey, now what?'

'It's nothing to worry about Harry. But why would you believe this has anything to do with you?'

'You're here after getting these surprising visitors.'

'True, but they didn't speak about you at all. Well that's a lie, they did say they wish to thank you, but that's all. I was thanked for my part as well. They realised that even though you killed…him, a lot of people helped end the war before it got worse.'

'Whoever they are seemed to have some brains. I keep telling people who thank me that I couldn't have done it without people like you, Ron, Hermione, Flitwick and everyone else that helped.'

'Oh these people are clever and powerful. Not powerful as is magical power, their positions are powerful, but they use their positions to help the entire magical world.'

'Are you talking about the ICW?'

'Yes, I am. They had people here, helping rescue people, taking out death eaters and now they realise that they might be able to help get our country back up and running but the right way.'

'At least they were willing to help get people to safety.'

'They heard what was said on Potter-watch and even though they were already helping when they could, they snuck more people in to do what was said by your friends. They didn't do it for you Harry, they did it because it was the right thing to do.'

Harry nodded, 'So they're going to help?'

'Yes, they want me to put together a team of about five or six people, that includes me, to sit down with them and talk over ideas. They know all about how the pure-bloods ran everything here and even though many didn't discriminate, they couldn't do much about the laws because people like Malfoy had all the money. I want you on the team Harry, not because you killed Voldemort, but for many other reason.'

'Apart from killing him, what are the other reasons?'

'You were raised in the muggle world, which was wrong. But then you were thrust into this world with only a month to get used to the fact you were a wizard and magic was real. One thing many of us wanted to change was how muggleborns or muggle raised were introduced to this world. We wanted them to know when they were younger and we wanted them to go to a school in this world from the time they were five. We wanted them to learn laws and customs, but that was blocked from even being taught at Hogwarts. Another reason is you saw or were involved in a lot of incidents that showed discrimination and you saw the danger of what was going on. You have good close friends that are a pure-blood and a muggleborn. You know and are friendly with people from all walks of life, like the Patil sisters. You taught the DA when the teachers had their hands tied due to the manipulation of Fudge by a death eater. Out of the DA which were all young, only a few died. That shows just how good a teacher you are but also to have them stay to fight when they knew who they were going up against. Our part of the magical world needs to change and I mean it needs a lot of changes. Having your opinion and idea's could help Harry.'

'Who else have you approached?'

'Arthur is going to be on the team. Now I know Hermione is very smart but I changed my mind about choosing her as the muggleborn representative. She has one big flaw that she needs to overcome before she could be considered.'

Harry sighed, 'I love Hermione, like a sister, but I hated the fact she believed so much in people like Dumbledore and McGonagall. She gave them her complete trust when she should have questioned some of their decisions and actions.'

'I see we're on the same page here Harry. You also mentioned how Hermione didn't listen to your idea's or opinions. You said she believed she was always right. She is also too much encased in the muggle world where she wants to change us into magical muggles, or use their laws and customs. We are different from the muggles so we are different in many different ways. After going on everything I remember about Hermione, I realised she would not be right for the team. Apart from that, this is also about Hogwarts. After you filled me in on the horcruxes, along with the prophecy and your meetings with Dumbledore, I realised I should not have listened to him. He made too many mistakes, especially in regards to you and how Hogwarts was run. Minerva should have questioned Albus instead of just following his lead. Even though right now she is in charge of Hogwarts, I will be pushing for someone else to be headmaster or mistress. Apart from just following Albus, she is too set in her ways so she would not want to support the changes that Hogwarts needs. If Hogwarts doesn't change it won't last another hundred years, let alone a thousand.'

'I would probably shock a lot of people if they heard that I agree with that. She would not want things to change and things need to change. She also never did enough to ensure the students were safe.'

'Exactly. Now, I have spoke with Lee Jordan, he is a half-blood that was raised in the wizarding world but he did spend time in the muggle world. You are the half-blood raised in the muggle world but knew nothing of this world until you were eleven. I'm still working on the muggleborn but there are a few that I need to talk to before I decide. I'm also asking Neville Longbottom. Even though Arthur is a pure-blood, he never followed a lot of the old traditions. I am a pure-blood but I was raised following some old traditions but not all of them. Neville on the other hand was raised by Augusta Longbottom who was strict about making sure Neville knew and followed all the old traditions. What Augusta didn't know was Neville hated them he just never let her know. He changed so much and a lot of it came down to you. Right now he is finally the head of house, something Augusta wanted to stop, but couldn't. I believe Neville will be pushing to have many old customs and traditions scrapped. You are head of house Potter and Black, even if you know nothing about the old traditions. Some of the old traditions just don't work anymore, they haven't for a long time and they worked for Voldemort and against good people. We need good people with ideas that will help our world and every person in our world. So I have come to ask you to join the team and hope we can come up with ways to allow our world to move forward and grow but also not to turn our world into a muggle world. We are still different from the muggles, so we should have our own way of doing things. You have a foot in both, so someone like you is what is needed.'

Harry could see why Kingsley was asking and one thing he was pleased about, it had nothing to do with the-boy-who-lived or the saviour of the wizarding world. Kingsley was asking because he knew Harry had been involved in many things that should not have happened in the first place. It was time Harry got more involved in this world he was born into.
