Fatima stood up and held her palm to her forehead, trying to stop the bleeding. Her entire body ached, and her head hitting the damn brick didn't help. She wanted a jacket, or a long sleeved shirt, not to mention a hijab. She hoped Kensi would get to her first, but her hopes weren't high. Then she saw Rountree running towards her. She groaned and tried to hug herself, so she could cover more of her body. Rountree immediately pulled his jacket off and passed it to her. Fatima's eyes widened at the kind gesture. She quickly pulled it on, then zipped it up.
"Thank you," she whispered, her eyes still wide. Rountree nodded. She climbed into the back of the truck
"Of course. You don't want the hoodie too?" he replied, opening a First Aid kit. Fatima gasped and pulled the hoodie over her head, then pulled the strings tight. She smiled shyly as he prepared an alcohol pad. "Sit still, okay? I'm going to clean that cut real quick. Want to tell me how this happened?" he murmured. Fatima sniffled and nodded.
"I was chasing our girl and I tripped on a rock. Slammed my head into the brick," she replied quietly, almost ashamed of her mistake.
"Are you okay? Do you want me to check out your ankle too?" he asked worriedly.
"No!" she yelled, pulling away.
"Okay, okay, okay, it's okay. Let me see that cut, though. I need to clean it before it gets infected," he whispered gently. Fatima slowly moved her hand and sniffled.
"It hurts," she whispered.
"I'm sure. It looks pretty nasty, sweetheart. Let me clean it, and we'll take you for some stitches. Okay?" he asked gently. Fatima sniffled.
"I don't want to go to the hospital," she whispered. Devin stared at her.
"Look. I don't want you to have to go to the hospital either, but you need to. This is pretty deep. You need stitches," he said gently.
Rountree walked into Kilbride's office.
"Can I help you?" Kilbride snapped.
"Um, yeah. You can tell me why the hell you sent Fatima in," he snapped back.
"Watch your mouth, young man, or I'll have your job," Kilbride said in a warning tone
"Huh? Is that what you threatened Fatima with? Huh? You told her that if she didn't go against her beliefs, her religion, you'd fire her?" Rountree snapped.
"I told Agent Namazi to do her job. She's a big girl, if she had a problem she could have brought it to my attention herself," Kilbride replied. Rountree scoffed.
"I'm very well aware that she's a big girl. But you're on this damn power trip, threatening everyone's jobs. And because of the fact that you sent her in, now she's hurt," Rountree yelled. Kilbride fell silent as they both came to their senses.
"I'll speak with Agent Namazi," he said quietly.
"You know what? You want to talk to her, fine. But you will never know what it was like when I gave her my jacket," Rountree snarled.
