Besides the school alarm briefly going off one day the rest of Aina's school week passed uneventfully. Her first aid training had been draining, but Aina found she had really enjoyed everything her sensei had taught her. The following day skipping around to catch all the gen. ed. classes had been boring, but Aina supposed it was necessary knowledge, and that Friday with class 1-A had been spent doing some basic combat training. Aina had been nervous for the combat training at first after seeing how Midoriya had come away from it, but her sensei had been right that the combat training wasn't normally so dangerous.
Aina had just left the gym with 1-A before breaking off to go report back to Shuzenji sensei. "Evening young one, how was class?"
"Good, I'm not coming back with Midoriya, so that counts for something right?"
Shuzenji chuckled, "I suppose it does. I wanted to speak with you, Monday class 1-A is taking a trip to our USJ building for rescue training. You'll be going on this trip with them, it's a great opportunity for you to get some experience. Unfortunately, your hero costume isn't quite ready yet. Hopefully I'll have it for you Monday morning, but you'll need to report here early to change and meet with them in time."
"Really, I'll get a hero costume," Aina exclaimed. She had been looking at the rest of 1-A in their hero costumes earlier that day and had been jealous.
"Of course, didn't think I would send you off without one, did you?"
"That's awesome Shuzenji sensei, I'll see you Monday morning bright and early!"
Shuzenji laughed, happy to see her young student so excited, "I better young lady, your dismissed." Aina smiled brightly before running back to her dorm. She grabbed her phone and hastily texted the news to Mina.
*time skip*
Monday morning came and Aina reported to Shuzenji bright and early so she could claim her hero costume. "Morning young one, how was your weekend?"
"It was good Shuzenji sensei. I'm ready for another week of training," Aina responded cheerfully, "is this my hero costume?" She asked as she walked over to the simple black box that was sitting on one of the beds.
"Yes, it is when you're done changing remember to report to the front of the school. Class 1-A will be boarding a bus to take them to USJ there."
"Of course, Shuzenji sensei, I'll see you when we get back!" Aina called back after grabbed the box and rushing back to her down to change. Shuzenji smiled after her student. She had been nervous about taking on a student of her own, and Nezu had to do a lot of convincing to assure her the trouble would be worth it. But as she watched the young girl run off, excited for her first costume, Shuzenji felt pride swell in her heart.
Back in her room Aina blushed as she held her costume up out of the box. 'I'm not sure I'll be able to breath in this let alone fight,' she held the black and green body suit up to her figure in the mirror. After undoing the side zipper, she took a deep breath and squeezed her way into it. Once it was fully zipped up, she grabbed the green utility belt it came with and fastened it before taking a final look in the mirror.
The black body suit had long sleeves with little holes at the cuffs to secure around her thumbs. There was a large green X on the front of the suit that accented her figure but was also accented with matching green mesh. The diagram on the lid of the box told her there were small pockets at the end of the x that would allow her to hold seeds and sprout vines from it and that the mesh lining was for roots if necessary. That plus the multi pocketed utility belt offered a surprising amount of storage.
Despite her original reservations she couldn't deny the suit was surprisingly comfortable despite leaving nothing to the imagination. Well, it was otherwise comfortable. Aina glared at the high heel boots that remained in the costume box. 'Yeah, I don't think so,' she quickly dismissed the boots as she grabbed her trusty lace up boots. They didn't match the suit per say, but she figured comfortable shoes that she could actually walk in were more practical than the high heel monstrosities they wanted her to wear.
With one final appraisal in the mirror Aina felt she was ready to go. She grabbed a few vine seeds and some of the color-coded nutrients pods that Hatsume had ready for her. After the Quirk Assessment Test, she wanted to be prepared in case she needed to really use her quirk.
It hadn't taken long for her to catch up to class 1-A and pick out the family tuff of pink hair. "Mina," she called as she raced over, oblivious to some of the looks the other 1-A students were giving her.
Mina looked to her friend and smiled before her mouth dropped a little, "Holy shit Suzuchan, you never told me your suit was hot," Mina blinked a few times as she looked her friend up and down.
"Oh um, yeah I didn't really know either. I just got it this morning. I'm thinking of sending it back for something a little less…um."
"Midnight looking," Mina teased.
"Yeah, it's surprisingly comfy though. It doesn't feel half as tight as it looks."
"Hell yeah, you should totally keep it than. I like this look on you," Mina got close and whispered in her ear, "some of the guys are totally staring at you, you're hot as fuck girl!"
"Oh, um thanks, but I'm not sure I really want the attention," Aina rubbed the back of her neck. Eventually their class rep. Iida called for them all to file onto the bus. Aina was bummed when he suggested assigned seating, especially when it put her in a single seat by herself at the front of the buss directly behind the driver.
She took this time to quietly calm her nerves. Having Mina react that way to her suit put her slightly on edge. It wasn't that she felt bad about how Mina had reacted, it just wasn't the kind of reaction she was used to having from others. Aina had always been a little nerdy and had never been big on 'risky' clothing. Not that there was ever anyone to really look at her in the past.
Her quiet resolve was quickly shattered when Bakugou went off somewhere behind her, "what did you say? I'll kick your ass!" The other kids started teasing him about his 'flaming hot garbage' of a personality, but Aina had to admit he had spunk. At the very least he was intimidating, 'wouldn't want to get busted by him,' she thought, 'I bet he'll be a good crime deterrent for anywhere he decides to work.'
Mina glanced over to her friend and caught her looking back at the blonde. Mina wiggled her eyebrows suggestively after catching her friend looking at Bakugou again. Aina rolled her eyes before turning back around in her seat. Her phone buzzed in her pocket.
MINA: I saw that, I knew it, you are so totally into him.
Aina didn't grace her friend with a response and tucked her phone back into her jacket. Her phone continued to buzz, and Aina could feel her eye twitch in annoyance. Mina wasn't going to drop this now, Aina knew she was screwed and would have to face it eventually.
"Hey, hey, we're here. Stop messing around," Aizawa sensei quickly silenced everyone as the bus came to a stop. They were all quickly unloaded, and Mina quickly clung to Aina's arm.
"Mina please-"
"You can't hide from me forever, you're way to obvious for that." Before Mina could continue to tease her friend, an approaching figure drew the attention of the students.
"Hello everyone, I've been waiting for you," All the students gasped at the black masked hero with the large white, space man like suit. Aina could only assume her lack of hero knowledge was making this encounter a lot less exciting for her than it was for the other students.
"That is the rescue hero Thirteen," Mina mumbled to her friend, "one of the best in the industry." Aina felt slightly intimidated, this was someone she was supposed to eventually live up to. Thirteen was friendly, but what if she had higher expectations for her. She was almost positive her sensei would have told Thirteen she was coming today.
She felt the suit's eyes fall on her and she knew she was at least partially right. 'This isn't just training,' Aina thought, 'I'm being weighed and measured by this hero today. I have to do good.'
"I can't wait to show you what's inside!" With that Thirteen led them all up the stairs and into the massive facility. They were all blown away by how versatile the facility was. After giving us an overview of all the different zones Thirteen began to talk about how powerful quirks can be used for both good and evil, and that not all bad done with quirks was done intentionally. This concept felt a little familiar to her, as Shuzenji had briefly gone over it with her the other day.
"That's all I have to say, thank you for listening," the students cheered as Thirteen finished her speech.
"Thirteen is so cool, right Suzuchan," Mina turned to her for confirmation, but all Aina could do was nod. This was supposed to be her kind of thing, but her quirk didn't have nearly as much raw power as Thirteen. How was she supposed to live up to someone like this?
"Right now that that's over-"before Aizawa could finish a pulse of electricity ran across the overhead lights and Aina felt a sudden oppressive aura as the atmosphere suddenly took a dark turn. A purple cloud appeared by the fountain in the center of the USJ. One that Aizawa was quick to identify as a threat, "stay together and don't move! Thirteen protect the students!"
Aina felt her chest tighter as a mob of intimidating figures began to emerge from the cloud. Some of the students moved forward to get a better look at what was happening before Aizawa quickly stopped them, "stay back! This is real, those are villains."
'So many,' Aina thought as they continued to fill the heart of the USJ, 'there are so many of them. How is he possibly going to stop them all?' It wasn't long before Aizawa jumped into action. It could have been that this was the first time she had ever seen a pro hero in action, or maybe it was the fear still tightly gripping her, but as the others turned to leave, she found herself frozen there with Midoriya. "Aizawa is amazing," he muttered, and Aina couldn't help but silently agree with him.
"This is no time to be analyzing! We have to go!" Just like Iida broke them both from their trance and with a quick glance at each other they quickly moved to join the rest of their retreating classmates.
They didn't get far before another ominous purple cloud appeared before them, and out of it came a figure shrouded in purple fog. "There is no escape for you. It's a pleasure to meet you. We are the League of Villains. I know it's impolite, but we decided to invite ourselves into this haven of justice to say hello. And besides isn't this a fitting place for All Might, the Symbol of Peace to take his last breath? I believe he was supposed to be here today and yet I see no sign of him. There must've been some sort of change in plans we could not have foreseen. Oh, well, in the end I suppose it doesn't matter. I still have a role to play."
Before Thirteen could react Aina watched as Kirishima and Bakugou charged the figure in an attack that resulted in a massive explosion. As the smoke cleared Aina was in awe of the two boys, both posed and ready to fight this clearly powerful villain. Aina hadn't realized she had been slowly moving forward till Thirteen put an arm out to stop her advance, "two of you involved is enough. I don't need you charging in too."
'Charging in,' Aina looked down at her fingers hoovering by one of her utility pouches, 'why on earth would I do that?' But those two had done it, it was a fearless action that she was normally not capable of. She was logical, and well controlled, yet she hadn't realized she was moving at all till Thirteen stopped her.
Aina gulped as her mind started to clear, she wasn't nearly as nervous as she thought she was. The itch that she thought was nerves was the instinct to move, but why? What could she possibly do at a time like this besides get in the way?
"You live up to your school's reputation. But you should be more careful children. Otherwise, someone might get hurt."
"You two, get out of the way right now," Thirteen called out to them. Those words sparked something within Aina, and soon she had a green pod in her hand, and she began to take a deep breath. The air was smokey and it burned her lungs to continue inhaling, but she needed as much carbon dioxide as possible to supply the vines so she could reach them.
"I'll scatter you across this facility to meet my comrades, and your deaths!"
Aina crushed the green pod in her hand and the baby vines within sprouted forth to grab her two classmates. Her lungs burned as they filled with fresh oxygen from the vines rapid production instead of deflating, but soon she was rewarded as the vines snapped tight after finding their targets. Unfortunately, by then it was too late.
The purple mist blew backwards, and instead of pulling her classmates back to the group as she had intended, she felt herself fly forward through the storm of dark clouds. Suddenly she felt a falling sensation before she landed on something soft but firm at the same time. Slowly she opened her eyes to see two angry red orbs glaring back at her, "Get of me you extra," Bakugou shoved her away and Aina landed with a thud next to him, "what are you even doing here? No one asked for your help!"
Aina had no idea how to respond, what was she doing here? She didn't even know why she had reacted the way she did, it just felt like the right thing to do at the time.
"Suzuchan," Kirishima called to her as he untangled the vines from his waist, "I should have known it was you. She was just trying to pull us away Bakugou. Yelling at a lady isn't very manly bro, she was just trying to help."
"Whatever," Bakugou scoffed as he stood and burned the vines from his body.
"Where are we any ways," Kirishima said as he looked around the dilapidated building, they found themselves in.
"Hell, if I know, probably some stupid disaster zone," before they could full regroup the three heard footsteps running up the hall. "Now we're talking," Bakugou chuckled darkly as an intense smile crossed his face before he turned to Aina, "if you're not ready to fight extra just stay out of the way."
Aina felt herself roll her eyes at his comment. When she first saw the villains enter the USJ staying out of the way had been the plan. But seeing as her body decided to move on its own, she may as well be ready to fight.
She grabbed a few seeds from her belt and quickly placed them in the pouches at the ends of the X on her suit. Rapidly a vine sprouted forth and curled around her arms and legs. She had gone over this with Hatsume. She should be more then able to use her vines in combat and could create a withered weak point to break off while grappling with opponents. It wasn't something she had practiced, but it was now or never.
She was ready when the villains began flooding the room, and while Bakugou and Kirishima made a great front wall she proved herself more than capable of grappling many of the weaker villains to the ground for more rapid take outs by her more offensive classmates.
"Alright, that's what I'm talking about," Kirishima exclaimed as they dispatched the final villains, "way to go Suzuchan, I knew you could do it. Nice costume by the way," Kirishima finished his praise with a thumbs up and a wink that caused Aina to turn bright red.
The three gathered to discuss their next steps, "alright, now let's hurry up and find the rest of our class. If we're still in the USJ than everyone else probably is too, and not all of them have the offensive skills we do," Kirishima glanced at Aina from the corner of his eye as he said the last part. Aina couldn't help but think he was mostly talking about her with that statement. "We've gotta make sure they're safe. Especially since we screwed things up when we got in the way earlier. If Thirteen had been able to suck up that villain, then we never would've been separated like that. We have to make it up to the others."
"You wanna track everyone down, have fun. But I'm gonna go destroy that warpy bastard!"
"What a second," Aina interrupted, "your physical attacks didn't even touch that guy! Why go back and attack him again?"
"Shut up extra, you're not even in the hero course, what would you know," he shouted at her, "I'm gonna take him down because he is their way in and out. If I cut off their escape route, they'll be stuck here and have to pay for what they've done. We'll just have to figure it out."
"Hope you have fun chit chatting. Too bad you let your guard down-" almost instantly Bakugou reacted, stepping to the side to grab the villain's head before slamming it into the ground and letting a small blast knock them unconscious.
"Anyways if all the villains are small fries like these guys were, then out classmates can handle 'em," he paused side glancing at Aina. It was becoming glaringly obvious to her that these two thought she was barely capable, and clearly an exception to what they were talking about.
"That reaction time was insane," Kirishima praised him, "also since when do you act all calm and rational?"
"I'm always calm and rational you red headed loser!"
"Yeah, there you are," Kirishima smiled brightly and Aina couldn't help but giggle a little at their exchange. Something told her she was witnessing the beginning of a strong friendship.
Bakugou let out a deep sigh, "go find the others if you want to," he said before walking away.
"Wait hold up," Kirishima call out to him, "I think what you're really trying to say is you believe in out classmates," Kirishima hardened his arms before pounding his hardened fists together, "and that's thinking like a man Bakugou."
And with that Kirishima agreed to follow Bakugou, "what about you short stack?" Bakugou sneered at Aina, "you gonna stay here and hide?"
"My name isn't short stack, it's Aina Suzuki," she hmphed at him while biting the inside of her cheek, "and I was just going to follow you two if that's okay."
"Of course it is Suzuchan," Kirishima said throwing an arm over her shoulder, "anything to help a friend. Just stick with us and everything is going to be fine."
Aina felt hot flush strike down her neck, "I'm not some damsel in distress you know. I don't need saving Kirishima."
"Whatever," Bakugou said cutting them both off, "just don't slow me down short stack." Aina released an exasperated sigh before she followed them both out of the building.
'This is going to be a long day,' she thought while she stared at the back of Bakugou's head, "man Mina is going to tease the hell out of me when all of this blows over.'
Author's Note: Lots of from the show dialogue in this one. Sorry, it felt necessary for pacing in certain parts. I broke the USJ incident into multiple chapters because it was a lot. Anyways hope you enjoyed the chapter. This is the last chapter I had typed up and ready to go, but I'll get another one to you guys as soon as I can.
