Jason stood helpless, he wasn't use to feeling this, as Claudia got her to breathe again, Zacchara's seemed to just know what to do, while he didn't. This was all because of a casual slip of one word ,Dad, did she think he would be angry that she called him Dad. Dad, the word only made him want to hold her close and never let the girl go, so how the hell could he be mad.
"Anna." Jason said softly moving toward Anna and Claudia.
Her eyes moved to him as Claudia stepped to the side, she didn't know what to say.
He took another step closer so they were only a few feet apart. "Anna, you don't have to be sorry or worried about calling me dad, it's what I am and I would be honored to have you call me dad, to think of me that way."
Anna was speechless but nodded, why would he want some half crazy girl calling him, Dad, she could barely keep her shit together on a good day and this was the second time she basically passed out in front of him.
He moved closer gently touching her shoulder before pulling the girl in to an embrace, looking over her shoulder to Claudia mouthing a Thank you.
She wrapped her arms tightly around him, he smelled like leather and pine, it was comforting, she felt safe.
The pair stayed like that for a few minutes before a know on the door pulled them apart.
"That would be the food." Jason said letting his daughter go and moving to the door.
"You okay, kid?" Claudia asked looking the girl over.
Anna nodded. "Thank you."
The older woman shrugged. "Daddy Morgan was about to have a panic attack as well if I did nothing."
Anna gave a week laugh at the name. "Still, thanks."
Claudia gave the girl a rare smile. "Any time kid."
"If you want to stay you can, I may have ordered half the menu." Jason said returning to the women holding two large bags of takeout.
Anna did laugh this time a full belly laugh seeing the size of the bags, it looked like enough to feed two people for a week was in them. "Maybe a bit too much."
Claudia looked between the pair before nodded. "Why not, haven't had Chinese in a long time."
It took a few minutes to pull the food out and make plates before the three were sitting on the couch, plates in had eating.
"Little bird told me you rented an apartment?" Claudia half asked the girl before biting in to an egg roll.
Anna nodded on a swallow. "Yeah a studio on Elm, guessing the bird was your brother."
The woman smirked. "Hit the nail on the head."
"Anna, I know you didn't come with much, if you need help with furnishing the place." Jason didn't get to finish as Anna shook her head vigorously.
"It's fine, I'll get what I need." She told him.
Claudia rolled her eyes the girl was too stubborn for her own good, she could see Jason wasn't happy but was allowing the girl to win…for now.
