Being brought into the orphanage was very nerve wracking for Samantha. Not once in her life had she ever walked into a orphanage, seen an orphanage, or even been made to live in one. Samantha was not actually an orphan, she remembered very clearly she had parents and was in fact too old to be a orphan.

But these people see her as a very young girl, with no parents, and no legal information. She couldn't deny she was young, but she had somehow been made extremely younger. Physically she was told she was a normal five year old girl and if there hadn't been physical proof of that she would have been laughing at the idea.

Specificlly, she was one of the rare cases growing up that she had no front teeth it was as if her body had completely reverted back to the same exact state that she was in kindergarden. she was at least three foot four inches tall. she weighed about fifty or so pounds. Her hair was light honey blonde. and to boot her cloths had not fit her anymore when they had found her within Konoha's trash dump site. Without that she would have thought the people in the city were abnormally tall.

Just thinking about the city was even more shocking. The city was unique because they didn't decorate the buildings with fancy stones or paint. The walls were normally a yellow tan stone, or white with green roof. They didn't nessisarly have telephone poles rather the black cords were hung across the buildings themselves. A lot of them were taller than her home town buildings. But she couldn't shake the immage of the stone monument towering over the city. Four great faces were carved into the stone wall. What really caught her attention was that they didn't look like America's stone when she asked who they were she found that they were indeed the hokage and was shocked. In fact, they were probably more shocked that she had not initionally known them.

and while yes she had been brought to the police station and spoken too they decided it was better for her to remain at the orphanage instead of being kept in custody. And so, with signing papers about citizenship and a brisk thirty minute walk they, her and her escort, found themselves in the field that belonged to the orphanage.

' I can't believe i'm in konoha. Konoha's not supposed to exist!' she had yet again found herself thinking. Yet there she was, walking to the building that the man told her was the orphanage. The building was very tall and very wide. It almost looked like a school it was so big, the walls were a cream stone white and like many other roofs the shingles were green. There were windows evenly spaced and there was a big two door entrance. In front of the building was a wide grass yard and a dirt road leading to the front door. There were groups of children playing together or hanging out and most of them watched her walk the road up to the building.

' this is more nerve racking then my first day of highschool.' whether she liked it or not, they were forcing her to live with these kids. And quite frankly that terrified her. Children can and were abusive.

Then there was the fact she only knew a tiny bit of japanese. These kids grew up with the language, she only got to watch tv shows and even then she had english subtitles. ' How is it i'm supposed to live here when i can't understand half of what their saying?'

" Don't be nervous, you're going to be fine here." She looked up at the man who had to her discomfort been holding her hand the entire walk and asked.

" How did you know I'm nervous?" The boyish little jerk chuckled and replied.

" Your hand started shaking."

" Oh." It was then she noticed she was indeed shaking.

" Its alright its not as bad as it seems." He said kindly.

" How do you know that?"

" I lived here once." ' yeah? Well you weren't a woman.'

" really."

" You don't sound too excited."

" This isn't where I belong. I belong at home with my family. Not at an orphanage."

" Keep you're voice down. These kids can hear you."

" Oh. I didn't realize they knew english." A kid yells at her.

" What planet are you from?"

" Yea didn't they teach you anything at the academy?" They scoffed at me and laughed i wasn't sure what they said but the man only replied.

" Keep walking."

" Its not like i understood what they said."

" They didn't speak english. But I can already guess your main language isn't Japanese."

" Yep, Didn't grow anywhere close to japanese."

" I'm suprized you knew anything at all."

" Well I caught tiny pieces of the language."

" Just not enough to speak it."

" Right."

" Don't worry the Ward Lady is very nice."

" Ward lady?"

" I'm not sure what you call a person who takes care of orphans."

" I don't either so we're even."

" Ah, a guess a native speaker doesn't know everything about their language." ' you have no idea.'

She looked around and most of the kids continued onto their activities and looked to be quite normal. There were some kids around her hight and then there were ones that were smaller or larger. The didn't seem to pick fights with eachother. The older kids seemed to form little families with the other kids. 'Is it really what its like for them?' She couldn't put her finger on it, but she felt that there was something not quite right about this place. The happiness seemed fake to her and felt she needed to guard herself because of it. In her mind the stereo type of orphans was they wanted families and weren't really happy without them and she had a sneaking suspicion that something was going on that they didn't want anyone to know. So even with the benefit of a doubt she held on to caution.

She walked into the door and she found herself looking at a plain black and white tiled floor. There was a staire way that lead up to the other floors and one that led below the building right in front of the door. To the right there was a door that was cracked open and she could see a table. To the left there was a doorway that lead to a very spacious room. Rachel couldn't tell if the place was really a orphanage.

There was an old lady with a young girl by her side. They seemed to be talking to eachother when the man walked up to the lady and started talking to her. The girl looked at her. She had short black hair and green eyes. She was wearing drabby cloths. A t-shirt that was grey and a pair of black shorts. She smiled and walked over to her.

" Hello, my name is Tori." Samantha didn't understand a word she said. She wrinkled her eyebrows and narrowed her eyes whilst tilting her head slightly.

" I can't understand you." She said in english. Rachel thought she had made a connection to the girl by the way she nodded her head.

" Hello, my name is Tori." She looked back at her with a open hand gesture moved to her. Samantha caught on.

" Hello," Samantha said unsurely. The girl nodded and continued the gesture.

" My name is, Kaede." She would have said Rachel, but she didn't know if they could pronounce that name.

" Ah, Kaede. Wait a second! How come you can't speak Japanese?"

" What?" was rachel's reply.

" I'm speaking to you in japanese." she exagerated. " Say something back!" Rachel gave her the confused look again. The girl was mighty confused. She turned to the adults and asked.

" Hey why can't she understand me? She's japanese right?"

They look to her and the old woman replies.

" She isn't japanese. She actually seems to be and English speaker. Though it's a variation."

" A variation?"

" Its slightly different from the normal english."

" Oh."

" So I guess you can't speak japanese?" Samantha looked confused once again.

" I'm going to take that as a yes." She put her fingers in an 'L' shape and rested her chin on the crevace of the shape.

" I guess I'll have to teach you then."

" Tori that's better left to someone who can really speak the language."

" But ."

" Don't but me young lady." at this tori became quiet

" I just want to help."

" Ok you can help, but you can't teach her everything." The smile on the girls face was very surprizing to Samantha

" I guess I get to teach you how to speak Japanese." Samantha's confusion came back to her face once again.

"What?"

" Hikushima-san this is Samantha. She has been found on the street with no idenification and no family of her own. She doesn't know how to speak japanese."

" What does she know?" The old woman asked.

" She seems to know a form of english, its a lot more developed with slang so it might confuse you."

" What do you mean a form of english?"

" Its not the traditional english you usually hear."

" Well that's unsual."

" She has no place to go."

" Does she have a family?"

" She says she does but they are not in the records."

" And her?"

" She didn't have any records. There wasn't even a folder with her name."

" You might as well have said she appeared out of now where."

" She did. " The old lady looked at Samantha suddenly.

" Are you sure she doesn't know what we're saying?"

" Yes."

" Why dont we take this to the kitchen?" the old lady leaned down to Samantha and she found herself kind of intimidated by the kind smile. " Well hello Samantha! My name is Hitome Hikushima. I'm the caretaker of the other children here." She spoke in both broken and almost perfect english.

" My name is Sa- er, Kaede."

" Believe it or not she has a forgien name and some great skill with language."

" Oh really? You're a really smart girl arnt you?" ' you have no idea lady.'

" Yes." Samantha didn't know what to think of how this woman treated her. Samantha was by no means a young kid in mind. In fact she could almost be on par with Shikamaru if she hadn't messed up before hand. Even if that may had been saying much...
