Limbo:

Time moved differently in limbo. To someone on earth, years would pass but it could be a second in limbo. The people who waited in limbo to go on, they never realised or understood how the time they were in worked, they were so used to it being different.

At one time Lily Potter had been allowed to go back to limbo from the afterlife. She had asked and been granted this due to her sacrifice to save her son, Harry, who ended up saving the world and he was only a baby at the time.

Lily waited for the set time, then she smiled before she returned to the afterlife. She had seen a familiar face while in limbo. The man had not seen her, he had been too focused on watching one area. Lily knew why the man had worked it for his soul to remain in limbo, he needed to speak with young Harry. Albus Dumbledore had never moved fully on so he never went to the afterlife. He did not know how time moved differently.

Lily spent a full year in limbo, a year in Earth time. When that year was up, she returned to the afterlife yet she was only gone for a second. Albus did not know this so he continued to sit and wait. Lily knew the man would be waiting for a very long time.

Lily, James and Sirius were joined by others. Some they accepted into their afterlife lives, some they turned away.

An old friend was turned away, Remus Lupin, who abandoned Harry when he was a baby.

Severus Snape never got the chance to try to speak with his old friend, Lily Potter. He was instantly transported to hell for the abuse he put children through while pretending to be a teacher. Many others went straight to hell, most ended up in the afterlife. People like Cornelius Fudge and Dolores Umbridge went straight to hell, the same thing happened to any of the death eaters that died.

The innocent children that died due to the war, they went to the afterlife, where they could live normal lives with all the others. They just wouldn't age or be able to have children of their own. They could visit people, visit places, have fun and enjoy their afterlife.

It was years later, or even seconds that James saw a smirk on his wife's face. He knew what he meant so he joined his wife so they could watch what was about to happen.

Albus Dumbledore had never stopped staring at one particular area. When he saw the first signs of thick white mist, he believed he had only been sitting there for a few hours.

Albus stood when the mist began to clear. He was a little surprised when he saw the person materialise. He was expecting Harry Potter, who should look exactly the same as the last time they saw each other. The man that appeared was old, with short silver hair. It wasn't until the old man turned that Albus saw the man had almond shaped green eyes.

'No, it can't be.'

'Were you expecting someone else Dumbledore?'

'Is that really you Harry?'

'Who else would it be?'

'But you're old. I was expecting you to arrive here within a year of my death, or around a year. Why did you take so long if you saw Severus' memory?'

'I have no idea what you are talking about old man but that snivelling bastard died a long time ago. I actually celebrated when I heard old voldemort killed snape. So where are we anyway?'

'We are in what some people call limbo. Its a waiting place. It allows the ones who died to decide if they wish to go on to the afterlife or return as a ghost. Forget that for now Harry. The horcruxes, did you destroy them, all of them?'

'Well, I can't really say since I didn't stick around old man. After the shit life I had, I finally said enough and decided to think of me for a change. The moment we left hogwarts after your funeral, I got out of Great Britain. I heard Voldemort took two weeks after that before he had complete control. He killed a lot of your old friends straight away. I only heard about that a few months later. I overheard a couple of tourists talking about the new dark regime in England and how they were lucky to escape. It was right after he had control when he killed Snape.'

'But I explained about the prophecy, it was up to you.'

'Did you really expect me to save everyone after the life I had. You really are thick old man. So many turned on me or supported you over me, I had no one, no one once Sirius died and you even prevented me from getting to know him. No, no one did anything for me, I wasn't going to help.'

'You allowed your friends to die?'

'I had no friends, thanks to you. But when I left, then I began to have the life I wanted. I learned early on in life that I would never trust anyone until they earned it. No one earned it. Most I ended up hating, you were fourth on my list. Voldy was first, Peter next, snivellius then you before those disgusting muggles you forced me to stay with. I celebrated the day I heard they were killed. They were out in their car when death eaters stopped them, sealed them in then set it alight. From what I found out, it took them hours to die and all I could do was smile. Snape, well, Voldy decided it was time to deal with the spy, but he didn't kill him straight away, just made him suffer then allowed Nagini to have a greasy snack.'

'You should have trusted me, people would not have died if you only listened.'

'One of the reason why I never trusted you, you said Snape had your complete trust. Anyone that could trust that man ended up my enemy.'

'My beautiful son, it's time to join your family.'

Harry turned at the sound of the voice, he smiled before he was being hugged by his mother, then his father. By the time he had finished hugging his parents, he had changed, to look around twenty years old.

'I've waited so long for this. I was hoping you would have been waiting for me.'

'We were informed that you had arrived so we came straight away. It's time to join all of your family,' James said.

'Oh and you old man, you won't be having the next great adventure. You'll be going where that snivellius bastard went, to hell where you belong,' Sirius said. 'You caused to much pain and suffering of innocents all for your greater good, so you will not be granted a good afterlife.'

Albus watched as the Potters and Sirius disappear. Seconds later, he was screaming as he was sucked into hell. He couldn't believe that after all he had done for the greater good that he would end up in hell. He would need to find someone to talk to so they would know he made a mistake.

Albus Dumbledore would forever live in hell, along with Severus Snape, Draco Malfoy and many others.

Harry ended up having a wonderful afterlife, with his family, which included his wife once she passed. More joined them after some time, their children and a lot of friends.

Harry smiled as he stared at the ones he loved. He thought of the day when he decided to leave England and leave everyone behind. He never had a good life. But from the time he left to when he settled into his new home in the Bahamas, he finally got what he always hoped. He got real friends and then he got his own family. Yes, he knew that the day he left Hogwarts was the best decision he ever made.
