A/N This chapter is rated t for violence and suicide. Also thanks to Celrock for her suggestion on this chapter. On Greys anatomy they call the docrors by their last names most of the time so I did that too.
"How do you feel?'' Miju asked her sister when she came in the room to check on her warring full pcp gear.
"Like I've been asleep for a week.'' Mi Sun answered groggily.''How is Ji Yeon and the other kids?''
"She's been sleeping alot like you.'' Miju answered.''As for the other kids. They're fine, except for Min Jun and his friends snuck out to play.''
"Seriously! I told him how dangerous this sickness is.'' Mi Sun said with as much strength as she could before she began coughing.
"Jin took care of it.'' Miju assured her.
"I want to see Ji Yeon.'' Mi Sun after she caught her breath.
"I'll see if I can get a tablet in there soon. Just focus on getting better.'' Miju told her as she stood up and was about to leave the room.
"Wait.'' Mi Sun said stopping her sister in her tracks.''I need you to be the one to make the tough decisions in case one or both of needs to be on a ventilator, and if there's not enough to go around put Ji Ueon on it before me. Jin has enough to deal right now and with both of us in here I need to know you can do the right thing.''
Miju nodded her head and silently left the room trying her hardest not to worry to much. She went into Ji Yeon's room to check on her.
The site that lay before her nearly broke her heart, it reminded her of when she saw her sister in the hospital after the dog attack.
Flashback
"Is she going to be alright?'' Twelve year old Miju asked her mother wjen they entered the hospital.
"I don't know. I hope so.'' Youngja answered softly.
Miju sighed as she sat with her parents and brother waiting for her little sister to come out of surgery. She decided to do her homework to try and distract herself, but she couldn't concentrate.
Miju lost track of time and must've fallen asleep because the next thing she knew she was being awakened by her father.
They walked down a long hallway and into a room. Miju watched ner parents as they sat near the head of the bed waiting for Mi Sun to wake up.
Miju watched her little sister sleep. She was so tiny and looked so fragile with her head all wrapped up in bandages. From that moment on Miju vowed to protect her sister no matter.
End of flashback
Miju sighed as she left Ji Yeon's room frustrated with herself for not being able to keep her sister out of harms way. She knew she should've tried harder to persuade her to pick a different career.
"You're still here?'' Bailey asked as Miju returned Mi Sun's chart to the nurses station.
"I'm leaving now.'' Miju told her as she stifled a yawn.''Call me if Mi Sun or Ji Yeon get any worse and have someone bring a tablet to Ji Yeon's room when she wakes up.''
"Will do.'' Bailey replied as Miju made her way to the elevator.
Meanwhile Min Jun was sneaking in some secret screen time that wasn't related to school while his father was at work, and from what he had seen on TV it would be a long time before he came home.
"I thought you were still grounded?'' Phil asked when he answered Min Jun called.
"I am but my daddy is at work and from what I saw on TV he will be there for awhile." Min Jun explained remembering the news coverage he had seen of the downtown area on chaos due to riots breaking out.
"I wouldn't want to be your daddy right now.'' Phil said.
"Why not?'' Min Jun asked with a confused look on his face.
"Coz he's a cop and cops aren't very nice right now.'' Phil told him.''They killed that one guy and that's why my daddy says everybody is freaking out and doing out and doing bad things.'' Phil explained.
"Well my daddy isn't one of those bad cops and he doesn't kill people.'' Min Jun cried hanging up on Phil and throwing his tablet onto his bed.
"Now I lost another friend.'' Min Jun said as he began to sob.
Downtown the chaos was amping up. The police were doing their best to keep the situation under control. Suddenly a loud bang rang out from the crowd prompting a few of the officers to shoot their guns into the crowd.
Hearing the shots made the crowd stop for a second.
"Everyone get back. I'll shoot any man who tries to get past me. Stay back.'' A white officer cried waving his gun at the crowd trying to keep the peace.
Everyone stopped for a second before someone from the crowd rushed forward with what looked like a gun, but could've been anything. Before he got to close to the police officers one of them shot him dead. A cell phone clattered to the ground as the black teen fell.
This sight infuriated the crowd and the cop who killed the teen put the gun to his head and fired.
"No will.'' cried his partner as the cop fell to the ground.
Chaos broke out once more and some officers resorted to using pepper spray.
Amongst the chaos Jin noticed a group of children huddled together. They looked like protest posters were on the ground smashed and crumpled. He hurried over to them and ushered them onto the sidewalk and out of harms way.
"Go in there. I'll come get you when it's safe.'' Jin told the kids as he pointed to a Filipino restaurant that they were standing in front of.
"Our dad is still out there.'' The youngest girl cried. As her three older siblings went inside the restaurant.
"I'll find him and send him your way.'' Jin promised hurrying back outside.
"Hi Susie.'' a little girl wearimg a shirt with Elsa on it said.''
"Hi Kya. What are you guys doing here?'' Susie asked taking a seat at a nearby table with her siblings.
"This our uncle's restaurant.'' kya explained as she went into the back.
"We come here to do school since the wifi at home is down.'' Kya's twin brother Kai explained as he turned back to a laptop and began speaking in a language none of the other kids could understand.
Kya soon returned with a tray of bowls with coconut ice cream.
"My uncle said you can have all the ice cream you want. I gotta go now so I can talk to my mommy. She got sent back to the Philippines.'' Kya said with a sad look on her face.
Susie suddenly stopped eating her ice cream as she looked out the window and spotted her father in the crowd. She ran out into the street toward him when she was suddenly picked up and and a loud pop was heard. For a minute Susie thought her dad had been shot, but when she turned and saw him running toward her she knew he was ok.
"Thank you.'' Randy said to Jin taking Susie from him and giving her a hug.
Jin nodded and ran over to help the blond female officer who had been shot. He radioed for an ambulance and rode with her to the hospital.
Randy reunited with his Kids and took them home greatful that everyone was safe.
At the hospital Naomi was rushed into surgery. Jin caught a ride home from his partner. He was irritated and sad that he couldn't see his wife and daughter unless it was through a screen. He hadn't talked to them all week, but his sister in law kept him up to date since she rarely left the hospital since the whole ordeal started.
Jin sighed as he entered the quiet house. By now it was nearing ten at night and everyone was in bed since they had school the next day. He took a hot shower and tried to wash away the days stressful events.
Over at the Finster residence Chas sat watching the evening News, which he hadn't done much of lately since it made him more paranoid. However something told him to watch it tonight.
"in local news tonight offocers pay tribute to their fallen comrads. Names were listed but one in particular caught Chas' interest. He hadn't thought of Naomi in years, but hearing of her passing brought him to tears. He hurriedly wiped away his tears, turned off the tv and climbed into bed next to his wife.
Miju returned to the hospital the next day to find her sister in worse shape then before.
"The bipap isn't working for either of them anymore.'' Bailey told her as she held Mi Sun's hand.
"Ok, so put her on a vent.'' Miju sighed.
"there's just one problem.'' Bailey said with a sollem tone.''We only have one vent left.''
This wasn't surprising news, still Miju didnt want to deal with this. How could she possibly choose between her baby sister and three year old niece. Of course she knew the obvious choice. Mi Sun would give her life if it meant her daughter got to live. She called Jin despite Mi Sun putting her in charge if this situation arose.
"Jin I have bad news.'' Miju said when Jin answered on the first ring. He was quiet not wanting to hear the news if his wife or daughter or both had died during the night.''They both need a vent and we only have one left.'' Miju continued when Jin didnt say anyrhing.
"You know who to choose.'' Jin simply said with tears in his eyes as he hung up the phone.
Miju sighed as she hung up the phone. She held her sister's hand and sobbed.''don't leave me.''
"What if they share the vent?'' Wilson, a female doctor with brown hair asked as she walked into the room. She had been mpnitering Ji Yeon throughout the night.''They did it In Seattle.''
"Let's do it.'' Miju declared looking up at Wilson with determination.
Later on in the day Jin received a text message and a photo from Miju. The text read show this to Min Jun so he'll think twice about sneaking out again. The picture showed Mi Sun and Ji Yeon both hooked to the same ventilator in the same room. Jin sighed in relief. Now they both had a chance of beating this thing.
"Hey guys I think it's time to forgive Chuckie for telling on us.'' Min Jun said the next day while the kids were waiting for class to start. He then showed them the picture of his mother and sister hooked up to a machine that was breathing for them.''You were the only smart one Chuckie.''
"Yeah. We're lucky none of us got sick. Oh yeah and I'm sorry about what I said about your dad yesterday.'' Phil said.''I saw the news. He saved Susie from getting really hurt.''
One by one all of the Kids apologized to Chuckie.
"Yeah thanks for stopping me from going out there Chuckie. I think maybe Asain people like me and Min Jun might have a easier time getting sick.''
Min Jun didn't know if that was true or not, but it seemed so since both his mom and sister had both gotten the sickness. He was really worried for his father now since he had to leave the house and was around people.
