A/N This was supposed to be a stand alone story, but I thought it could fit into this story as well. Part of this chapter was suggested to me by Celrock.
Mi Sun arrived home from the hospital a few days after waking up. She was a little confused at Cleo's less enthusiastic greeting then the last time she had come home after being away for a long time.
"Is Cleo ok?'' Mi Sun asked as she sat down on the couch next to Cleo and not have her react the way she expected.
Usually Cleo would run over to Mi Sun excitedly wagging her tail, but this time she just layed on the couch barely wagging her tail.
"What's wrong with Cleo?'' Mi Sun asked she took a seat on the couch.
"I don't know. She was fine this morning.'' Jin replied sitting next to his wife.
"She's not eating like she usually does.'' Min Jun commented as he pet Cleo's head.
"We should take her to the vet. She needs to get fixed anyway.'' Mi Sun said.
"Why does Cleo need to get fixed?'' Ji Yeon asked as she sat on the floor near the couch laying her head on Cleo's.''Is she broke?''
Mi Sun and Jin laughed while Min Jun and Ji Yeon looked confused.
"Getting Cleo fixed means she can't have puppies.'' Mi Sun explained once she finished laughing.
"But we want Cleo to have puppies.'' Ji Yeon said lifting her head off of Cleo and staring at her parents.
"Puppies are a lot of work and I have enough work to do right now.'' Mi Sun said.
"We can help.'' Min Jun pleaded.''Please let Cleo have puppies.''
"You were the one who wanted a dog and now I'm the one wnp mostly takes care of her so I get to decide and I say no puppies.'' Mi Sun insisted.
Later that night Mi Sun was awakened by Cleo wimpering and Ji Yeon crying.
"I'll go get her.'' Jin offered getting up and going to Ji Yeon's room so Mi Sun could rest as much as possible like she was supposed to.
While Jin left the room, Mi Sun reached down by her feet where Cleo was and felt that she was burning up.
"Something is wrong with Cleo.'' Mi Sun said when Jin returned to the room with Ji Yeon in his arms.
"Something is wrong with Ji Yeon too.'' Jin explained setting Ji Yeon on the bed next to her mother.
"What's wrong?'' Mi Sun asked as Ji Yeon leaned into her.
"It hurts.'' Ji Yeon answered simply pointing to her kidneys.
"You have a fever too.'' Mi Sun sighed as she lifted Ji Yeon into her lap.''My poor babies.''
"No vets are open at this of night.'' Jin sighed as he hung up his phone.
"Just make her comfortable until then.'' Mi Sun said getting out of bed.
"Where are you going?'' Jin asked following Mi Sun down the hallway.''You just go home.''
"I think Ji Yeon has a kidney infection.'' Mi Sun explained as she put her shoes on.
"You can't go back to the hospital.'' Jin protested grabbing MI Sun by the shoulders.
"I don't have a choice.'' Mi Sun said.
"You just got home and you're supposed to be resting. Let me take her and then I will come back and get Cleo first thing in the morning and take her to the vet.'' Jin said.
"We can't risk you getting sick. I can't go back to work yet. One of has to bring in money.'' Mi Sun protested as Jin let her go. He knew she was right. He just didn't want to see either of them getting sick again.
"Be careful.'' Jin told her as she walked out the door.
"Please tell me neither of you is experiencing symptoms again.'' Lucy said as Mi Sun entered the hospital with Ji Yeon in her arms.
"I'm just tired and we both still cant taste anything yet, but I'm not here about that. I think Ji Yeon has a kidney infection.'' Mi Sun explained.
Lucy took Ji Yeon from Mi Sun and went to run some tests. She found Mi Sun in the waiting room so,time later.
"You were right. She does have a minor kidney infection on top of needing her appendix out.'' Lucy confirmed.
Mi Sun nodded and asked.'' Can I see her?''
Lucy nodded and lead Mi Sun down the hall and into a room where Ji Yeon lay on a bed. She was clearly still in pain and reached out for her mother when she saw her in the doorway.
Mi Sun went to her immediately and held her.
"I'll give you five minutes and then we'll take her to surgery.'' Lucy said before leaving the room.
"It hurts.'' Ji Yeon whined as she clung to her mother.
"I know. It will be over soon. I promise.'' Mi Sun said kissing the top of Ji Yeon's head.
Lucy allowed Mi Sun to stay until Jo Yeon was drowsey and heading into the OR.
Mi Sun reluctantly went home as she wasn't allowed to stay. Lucy promised to update her as soon as Ji Yeon was out of surgery.
Mi Sun arrived home to find Jin and the older kids still asleep. She was about to go to her room and lay down. She didn't intend on sleeping, just resting her eyes.
Sleep would have to wait as Cleo began to whine when she saw Mi Sun in the room.
Mi Sun knelt down on the bed and petted Cleo's head. She felt warmer then usual and seemed to be in some pain.
MI Sun took Cleo into the living room and sat with her on the couch. She wrapped a cool towel around Cleo to try and cool her off.
It was nearing seven a.m. when Mi Sun was awakened by her phone. She didn't even remember falling asleep.
"I was just calling to tell you that Ji Yeon made it through surgery just fine and should be able to go home tomorrow once we get the kidney infection under control.'' Lucy informed her when Mi Sun answered the call.
Once she got off the phone with Lucy, Mi Sun called the vet and made Cleo an appointment for that morning.
"How is Ji Yeon?'' Jin asked coming into the living room after having just woken up.
"She will be fine, it's Cleo I'm worried about.'' Mi Sun told him looking down at the sick dog.
"I'll take her to the vet and see what's wrong and also schedule an appointment to get her spayed.'' Jin said grabbing Cleo's leash.
Mi Sun helped Cleo off the couch and noticed that her legs were swollen. She could tell it hurt her to walk.
Once Jin had left with Cleo, Mi Sun began preparing breakfast for herself and the older kids. She wished that she could go see Ji Yeon, but die her health not being the greatest right now, she would have to wait until Ji Yeon came home. It wasn't safe or smart for her to keep visiting the hospital.
It was around noon when Mi Sun's phone. She turned off the TV and answered the call.
"We're going to have hold off on getting Cleo fixed.'' Jin informed Mi Sun.
She didn't like where this was going as Jin continued.
"She's going to have puppies.'' Jin concluded.
"How did you let this happen?'' Mi Sun groaned.
"I didn't. Cleo got out when you and Ji Yeon were in the hospital, so I just guess it happened then.'' Jin explained.
"So is that why she's sick?'' Mi Sun asked. She didn't really know if dogs got sick from being pregnant like humans did.
"No.'' Jin sighed before continuing.''She has Shar pei fever.''
