'Do you have to go back to work?'' Ji Yeon asked as Mi Sun put on her shoes. She had enjoyed spending time with her mother once again, and was a little anxious for her to go back to work.
Min Jun was too, but didn't voice his worries aloud. He was worried about both of his parents going to work.
The adults tried to keep their kids from hearing about the ever increasing violemt news from their children, but sometimes it was impossible.
Min Jun hoped that seeing his friends would distract him from his thoughts.
"Yes. Now that I'm feeling better, I need to go back to work so I can help other people feel better.'' Mi Sun explained.
"Stay safe.'' Jin said giving Mi Sin a kiss.
"You too.'' Mi Sun said before sighing. She quickly got up to speed while recovering at home, and from what the news was saying it wasn't the best time to be a cop. She feared for her husbands life more then ever before.
"I'll be fine.'' Jin promised not missing the worried look on Mi Sun's face. He gave her hug before they parted ways and made their way to their jobs.
Min Jun ran to catch up with his father and gave him a hug before hopping in the car with his mother.
Soon enough Min Jun arrived at Tommy and Dil's house.
"How come Ji Yeon didn't come with you?'' Dil asked as Min Jun took a seat on the couch next to Phil.
"She has to stay home with my cousin cuz she had to have her appendix out and had a kidney infection.'' Min Jun explained.
Dil was disappointed, even though he shouldn't of been surprised. Ji Yeon didn't like coming to play at Dil's house because Spiffi was to hyper and always knocked her down.
"Come on Dil.'' Tommy said interrupting him from his thoughts.''We're going to go play in the puddles.''
It had rained the previous night, so the kids decied to go jump in the many puddles that littered the grass and patio and play in the mud.
After an hour of playing outside everyone was cold and dirty, so Didi brought them all in to get cleaned up.
Once everyone was clean they all sat down to a warm lunch as it began raining again.
Everyone was surprised when Min Jun suddenly dropped his spoon into his soup.
"What's wrong?'' Lil asked. Everyone stared at Min Jun, who just pointed to the TV.
All of the kids turned their attention toward the TV where Stu was watching. His show had been interrupted by a live news broadcast.
Before Stu rea'ozed what he was seeing on the TV, Min Jun was already out of his seat and sitting in front of the TV.
Min Jun stared wide eyed as three men stood around Jin and beat him. Sirens could be heard in the distance. Two of the men ran off while the third pulled a gun out and shot Jin in the chest before running off.
Stu turned off the TV, but the damage had already been done. Min Jun sat there numb and scared. He didn't want to cry in front of his friends.
Kimi went over to Min Jun and gave him a hug. Nobody knew what to do to help Min Jun feel better. Didi decided to call Mun Hee to come get Min Jun thinking that being at home would make him feel more comfortable.
"Call me later.'' Phil said when Min Jun was about to leave. Min Jun nodded silently and followed his older cousin out the door.
"Is my daddy goimg to be ok?'' Min Jun asked as they made their way home. He glanced over to where Ji Yeon was sleeping peacefully. He figured she hadn't seen what he had or she wouldn't be sleeping.
"I don't know.'' Mun Hee answered honestly. She hadn't seen the news, but Miju had called her and told her what happened just in case the kids found out about the incident.
Meanwhile at the hospital, Jin was rushed into surgery. Miju was thankful that Mi Sun was working in the children's ward on this day, so she wouldn't have heard about the drama that came in. Jin hadn't been the only cop to arrive at the hospital that day. He was the third.
Miju ordered the doctor who was performing Jin's surgery to page her as soon as he was out and to not tell Mi Sun that he was here. She felt guilty, but didn't want her sister to know anything just yet.
'Why didn't you tell me?'' Mi Sun asked harshly when she found her sister in the er.
Miju turned to face Mi Sun.''I didn't tell you, because you have a job to do. Besides he's still in surgery. There's nothing to tell yet anyway.''
"My husband was shot and I had to hear it from gossiping interns.'' Mi Sun almost shouted.
Miju grabbed Mi Sun by her shoulder and looked into her eyes.''Get beck to work. We can't help him right now, so let the doctors who can. I will page you the second I hear something.''
Mi Sun hurriedly wiped away her tears and walked off toward the elevator. She knew her sister was right. She had a job to do no matter what. She couldn't do anything to help her husband even if she wanted to.
A few hours later Mi Sun sat outside Jin's room waiting for someone to tell her that she could see him.
"He's stable.'' Miju announced when she came out of the room and sat in the chair next to her sister.''It's going to be a long night. You should go home to your kids and try and get some sleep.''
Suddenly a beeping sound was heard from inside the room. Miju rushed into the room shutting the door behind her. A few seconds later a whole crew or doctors rushed past Mi Sun and into the room. She just made out them shocking Jin, trying to get his heart to start beating once more before the door closed and she fell to her knees sobbing.
Mi Sun felt herself being lifted up sometime later. She stopped crying as she felt whoever it was that picked her up off the floor wrap their arms around her and hold her.
"He's alive.'' Miji breathed against her sister's shoulder.
Jin was later discharged when he was well enough to go home.
"I don't wanr to take the pills.'' Jin protested when Mi Sun offered him the bottle she had picked up at the pharmacy.
"You were shot in the chest and have a few broken ribs, along with a concussion.'' Mi Sun reminded him.''No one will fault you for taking pain pills if you really need them.''
"I'll be ok.'' Jin assured her as he leaned back on the pillow.
"There here if you need them.'' Mi Sun said placing the pill bottle on the bedside table and giving Jin a kiss before walking out of the room to prepare dinner.
