Sonic was doing what he does best, running away from and taunting Dr. Eggman.
"Sonic, slow down so I can finally catch you!'
"Not a chance, egghead."
No matter what Eggman threw at him, whether it be robots, brainwashed deities, or both, Sonic would always emerge victorious. But this time, maybe Eggman had the upper hand for once.
Sonic turned off to the right. "Just as I wanted."
Then to the left. "He's right where I need him to be."
Sonic emerged into a large chamber. "Well, this doesn't look like the exit," he said in a cocky demeanor just as the door closed itself, leaving the blue hedgehog trapped.
"Oh ho ho ho," laughed Egghead as he emerged onto the upper balcony, "You've fallen for another one of my traps!"
"And I'll get out of it just as easily as I have countless times before," retorted Sonic as he pulled out the seven colorful Chaos Emeralds.
"That dim-witted buffoon doesn't realize that he's been in a similar situation before. But no matter, this is exactly what I want," Eggman thought to himself as he watched with glee a Sonic transformed into his golden Super form.
"I guess I'll tell you my plans for once, Eggman. I'm going to trash this place then get out of here. Don't worry, it'll be quick."
"Just as my plan will as well!" Eggman quickly pulled a lever. A highly complex device activated and magnetized Sonic to the center of the room. The emeralds dropped to the floor, but Eggman did not notice that only six of the emeralds fell out of Sonic's grasp.
"You think you've got me, think again," said Sonic as he pulled out the Chaos Emerald that did not fall to the floor.
"Sonic, drop that emerald if you know what's good for you. You wouldn't possibly be thinking about doing a Chaos Control or something with it!" Eggman said worryingly.
"But that's exactly what I'm going to do. CHAOS CONTROL!"
The problem with Sonic using Chaos Control while he is trapped in Eggman's machine is that a bunch of conflicting energies, combined with Sonic's inexperience of Chaos Control, will lead to an unknown but dangerous outcome.
An alarm started going off. "COCKY OVERLOAD! COCKY OVERLOAD!"
"Sonic, stop being stubborn and cease the Chaos Control immediately! Something horrible is going to happen if you follow through with it!"
But Sonic was too cocky to care. He couldn't trust Eggman. He followed through with Chaos Control, which caused a massively weird explosion that sent Sonic, Eggman, and a few select others that weren't even near the blast radius to go flying off into the distance, yet the base remained perfectly intact. Oh, and the Chaos Emeralds also went flying, as they do.
