As promised he showed up with the package. This in turn led to Izuku spending more nights exchanging information with Tsukauchi or Eraser. They would set up an exchange point and a time where it would be clear.
Training with Kavar continued as it had before. His friend pushed himself beyond his limits. The drug bust had been a real eye opener for him. What they were doing was extremely dangerous. That they could die if they weren't careful. Kavar decided that night that he should go beyond his current capabilities to be more useful.
A year passed since they had become vigilantes. Izuku kept track of their progress online and using the informant at the Bar. The Bar was a small place in the Red Light District. The owner was a male of middle age and grey eyes. His quirk allowed a contract to be made. If broken the punishment as defined in the contact would be enacted. They were always signed in blood. Only certain people were allowed in the Bar.
In the beginning most civilians thought that they would be caught early. Within six months like most vigilantes were. Instead they were still active nearly every single night.
Izuku's patrol routes stayed mostly on the poor side and red light district of Musutafu. They were rarely patrolled by police or heroes, even the underground heroes. His vigilante presence however seemed to be a comfort to those who just wanted to survive.
Occasionally he would make a trip to Hosu after befriending Ingenium. Ingenium had covered for another hero in Musutafu and accidentally came across Izuku during a drop off for Tsukauchi. After a chase that ended in Izuku hiding on a window sill he started leaving food for Izuku. To the boy it was one of the strangest things he ever came across. Ingenium had for whatever reason decided that he wasn't worth chasing. Instead left him a business card and warm food.
The warm food was a welcome change to the routine. It made all the difference especially during the winter. Winter had been tough on Kavar's body. No matter how many repairs they did to the train car was drafty and cold. It got to the point where he found and fixed up an old space heater. Once during the winter when he went to pick up his usual warm meal from Ingenium he found two brand new hoodies. They had heavy lining in them that would keep both he and Kavar warm for a long time.
The combination of the kept them going for the winter. With how many times they ran into Eraser on the beach they spent more of their time in the train car when not patrolling. It wasn't until spring that they had another encounter with him.
Izuku had been training with Kavar when the other appeared for the first time. He had just thrown Kavar back onto the sand when Eraser made his presence known. If he hadn't been a hand to hand combat session he would have thrown one of his knives at Eraser.
The man offered them advice on how to improve their fighting skills. Once again he offered to take Izuku and this time Kavar to the cafe. Once again he didn't have a reason to deny the request. So they got a decent meal and coffee.
To their annoyance the hero would come to the beach and offer them food and coffee. Sometimes they would go to the cafe other times they would just share it on the beach. Izuku could tell Eraser was getting suspicious of their living situation but he never tried to confront them directly. Instead he would try to follow them to their houses. Thankfully Izuku had been trained for just such a situation. Heroes were well trained but he had been trained by the best to kill the best.
Summer brought Izuku meeting with Giran and exchanging Orichalcum mines for support items. Only the contract made by the Bar's owner ensured that they both kept their end of the bargain. By the end of the summer he and Kavar had brand new equipment.
Izuku had a hoodie with the main part of it black with dark green stripes. Inside it was lined with Orichalcum along the vital parts of the body. Just enough to protect him but not enough to slow him down. Gloves in the same color scheme were found within the hoodie pockets. They were fingerless just how he liked them. His pants were standard military BDU styled in black.
Kavar was given almost the exact same hoodie except it was red and black combination. A better kitsune was also given. Like Izuku he was given standard military BDUs. His gloves however had fingers on them. This would prevent his quirk from activating.
With the gear came weapons as well. Four Orichalcum knives, extra bullets both Orichalcum and regular, and finally arrowheads. To his surprise there was more than what they agreed upon. It seemed that Giran wanted to show a sign of goodwill. Izuku wouldn't argue with that they needed all that they could get.
It was turning back into fall now. Izuku was preparing for another patrol. The sky was a vivid orange and red and the ocean reflected it. Kavar wasn't going out on patrol with him. Seasonal allergies had the boy's nose clogged and his head pounding with a migraine.
Kavar questioned voice lower than normal, "Are you sure you should patrol on your own tonight? Tsukauchi has been busy with something."
Izuku stretched as he replied, "I'm going to UA tonight. I need to get some information and hacking them isn't getting me the information."
"You hacked UA?! Have you lost your mind?! What about Nezu?"
Izuku shrugged as he checked his sheathed knives and guns, "Given that he hasn't come to visit us I think he either hasn't noticed or doesn't care. Regardless I need to get the information which means breaking into UA."
Kavar ordered, "Be safe and avoid the rat."
"Aren't I always," Izuku chuckled.
"I was afraid you'd say that," retorted Kavar.
