*As all ways I own nothing of Rizzoli and Isles I am just blessed to use the characters for awhile.

It was late in the evening when Jane dropped Frankie back at the station to pick up his car. She was going to go up to her desk and scan the computers some more on Judy McDermott but her stomach growled causing her to remember she hadn't eaten anything since that morning. Thinking about her options she remembered Maura's comment, "The light will be on," and smiled. She dialed their favorite pizza place to have a pie ready for pick up as she went by on the way to Maura's.

The woman must have heard Jane's car pull up in her driveway because she opened the door just as Jane climbed the stairs. "Good evening Detective." She said with a big smile.

"Hello Maur..." was said as she made her way to the breakfast bar. "I really need to eat something and have a beer," was said before a slice of pepperoni was popped into her mouth.

Maura giggled to herself, "The beers are in the refrigerator," she said as she went to retrieve some plates for the pizza. In between bites Jane filled Maura in on what she had gathered from her and Frankie's trip. "It was so weird Maura, those church people actually think this woman is a good person. I had begun to wonder if we were talking about the same person until I talked with Mr. Carter and he reassured me that the wicked witch did reside in Judy McDermott."

"It sounds like she has a Dr. Jekyll/ Mr. Hide persona going on. She shows one thing to be socially accepted but truly has deep seeded issues and behaviors going on behind the scenes. " Maura said as she cleared the dishes from the table.

"Yeah... I think your right..." Jane said then stopped talking as she remembered what Mr. Carter had said about the funeral being the day after tomorrow. She wondered if Judy McDermott would show her face at the funeral.

"What is it Jane?"

"Hummm..."

"You have that look you get when your on to something."

"Oh...no. I was just wondering if the witch will show up for Alley's funeral."

"She will have to." Maura answered matter of factually.

Jane looked at her like "explain."

"The Stockbridge community is a smaller one and given the circumstances of the double deaths she would have to show her support for the Carters. Any other response would show the community and her social settings her true personality, in which, she wishes to keep in secret."

"Well... I guess we will find out the day after tomorrow if she comes or not." Jane said finishing her second beer while Maura looked at her puzzled. "I kind of got us invited to the funeral." Jane said answering Maura's look.

"Oh... I see," she said as she went to the refrigerator getting her friend a new beer to replace the empty one.

"What... you not wanting to go to the funeral?" was asked after the flat response.

"No...no... I would love to pay my respects to the Carters..."

"But..."

"No buts..." A sigh was given then a resolve to voice the concerns weighing on her thoughts, "It's just that I have been reading Alley's journal and after talking to the D.A. today I am wondering if we are just wanting this woman to have something to do with the murders." Jane once again had the "explain now" look on her face, as she got up from the table and made her way over to Maura's couch. She had sensed a long explanation forth coming. Maura took her wine glass and curled into the other side of the sofa. "I am a woman of science and of facts and yet this case has me willing and wanting an outcome based on judgement of behaviors that we have no proof happened."

"What about the abuse Alley wrote about?"

"Yes there is that and I wish the woman could pay for every pain she inflicted upon that child. But Jane, nothing so far is pointing to Judy McDermott murdering these girls. There isn't as much as a scratch on the woman's hands, and you know as well as I do, that with as much rage and cuts on their bodies that was done, there should be some kind of physical marks on the perpetrator as well."

"She could have had someone do it." Jane retorted quickly.

"True and that is why you are going to continue to pursue this train of thought till the end of it," she said and smiled. "All I am saying here..." she paused for effect, "...we need to make sure that we keep our eyes open and not be so focused on her that we miss the clues and hence maybe the true killer. There will be no justice for them if that happens."

Jane's posture softened as she realized what Maura had been saying was true. "What has made you so wise all of a sudden?"

"It was something Alley wrote in her journal, "Loving someone is never a sin... but judging them... that is where sin lives."
