3rd Person POV

Cat Valentine woke up from her siesta, rubbing the dust off of her eyes. She then stood up and wore her favorite pink flip-flops and walked out of her room with a smile so bright it made the rainy afternoon turn into a sunny and lively one.

When she walked to the living room, she found her friend Sam passed out on the couch while holding a baseball bat. She carefully reached for the remote on the table and turned the television off.

"Oh Sam, always with the bats." Cat said, shaking her head. She slowly took reached out for the bat that Sam was holding so that her friend could sleep peacefully without it.

Before Cat could take the bat away from her, Sam woke up and suddenly pulled the bat back to her. The sudden force made the redhead fall onto her friend Sam on top of her.

"Oof, Cat! What are you doing on top of me?" Sam asked, clearly irritated because of Cat's red hair covering her face.

"This escalated quickly." Cat said while laughing uncontrollably. "I wanted to take the bat away from you so that you can sleep without it."

"No, you shouldn't be taking my bat. This could protect us from danger." Sam said pushing Cat off of her. Cat landed on the carpet floor and yelped a loud squeal. Believe it or not, Sam was gentle when she pushed her off of her. "And why did you kill the TV? I wasn't done watching yet."

"You were already sleeping when I saw you." Cat told, dusting herself off.

"I wasn't sleeping, I was uh..." Sam thought of the right word to use in her limited vocabulary. "Meditating, yeah that's what I was doing."

"Well sorry for disturbing your meditation but we have to clean this place up because we're gonna babysit a kid tonight." Cat told, picking up the candy wrappers on the table.

"Who are we babysitting again?" Sam asked.

"A boy named Chuck. Her parents told me on the phone that he loves to be a chef." Cat told.

"That's great, maybe he can cook me some fried pork fingers or better yet, smoked ribs." Sam said, lost in her food related thoughts. "Now I'm hungry."

Sam got off the couch and went straight to the kitchen to get something from the fridge while Cat started cleaning the mess that Sam had made.

Later that peaceful evening, the whole living room is neat and clean. Cat had just finished taking a bath when she heard the telephone ringing.

"Um Sam, can you get that please? I'm still in the bath." Cat told. Sam groaned because she had to get off the couch again and exert effort to walk all the way to the kitchen where the telephone is. She picked up the phone and put it on her ears.

"Who is it? What do you want?" Sam said with a bored tone. She heard Cat call her name from the bathroom, telling her to fix her way of talking to people on the phone. "Okay sorry. Yes, how may I help you?"

When Cat finally got clothed and finished drying her hair, she went to to kitchen to talk to Sam. Sam had just finished talking on the phone when Cat asked her who called.

"It was, who was that kid we were supposed to babysit tonight?" Sam asked.

"Chuck." Cat said.

"It was Chuck's parents. They said they are canceling the babysit tonight." Sam said. "I asked them why and they said that they find you annoying and weird."

"What?" Cat asked, she looked at Sam with confusion.

"Yeah, they also said that your hair isn't natural and said you should dye it to green or magenta." Sam said, trying not to laugh at the prank she is pulling. Cat blinked four times in disbelief. The fifth time she blinked, her eyes started to water and her nose turned a puffy red. Sam saw this and thought she had taken this a little too far.

"Hey, Cat I was just joking. Don't cry." Sam said, gently holding both of the redheads arms. "They didn't really say those things. Gosh, I really took this prank too far." Cat wiped the tears off of her eyes and wiped her nose with a tissue that Sam just gave.

"So it was just all just a joke?" Cat asked.

"Yeah, I'm sorry." Sam told.

"Don't be, you got me pretty good." Cat laughed with a huge grin on her teary eyed face. "You really know the right buttons to push." Cat lightly poked Sam on her stomach.

"Well I have a gift." Sam retorted.

"So what do we do now?" Cat asked. "We have the whole night to ourselves."

"Hey, how about a movie night?" Sam asked, gesturing her hands on the living room.

"Yay! Great idea!" Cat said, complete and utter excitement gleaming in her eyes. "I'll make the popcorn."
