(Chapter Twenty)

Jane sat on Maura's couch drinking a beer lost in her thoughts while the Maura had went up to change clothes. She was just as upset at the DNA lab as Maura was. The baby DNA could not be processed again because they were waiting on a part to fix the machine. This could possibly explain Bethany's DNA being mixed in the babies sample. Something was off but she couldn't put her finger on it at the moment so she stopped trying. The day had been draining. Alley's funeral then hearing Randy's sad story. She paused a moment to really think about this man. From the age of eleven Judy McDermott had been whispering God's will into his ear. He was suppose to marry Bethany to keep her out of sin.

"Sin," she said out loud. Then she looked at the couch and realized she was sitting in the very spot that started her own enquiry on the subject. As the memory of soft velvet lips filled her senses. She smiled when the thought of rubbing Maura's leg flashed across her memory. "That was nice," she thought out loud.

"What was nice?"

"Busted Rizzoli" was Jane's next thought "...quick think."

"Ma letting Joe Friday stay with her while I went to the funeral."

"Oh... yes it was." Maura said and sat down by Jane and handed her a fresh beer while she drank her glass of wine.

"That was close..." Jane stated to say to herself then stopped as she turned to take the beer. She was caught in a moment that seemed suspended in time. The desire that she had felt at the funeral suddenly shot a warm fuzzy feeling all through her body. "How can I be frozen yet burning up hot." she thought to herself.

"Jane..." was said.

No answer... "She's talking to you Rizzoli." She couldn't reply, the only thing left to do was let velvet touch velvet. For the briefest of moments the world was perfect.

Maura pulled back a breath away "Jane..." was whispered this time.

No answer still... only Jane setting her beer on the table and taking Maura's wine and placing it by the beer. She then came back to the velvet lips she craved and kissed Maura with all the passion she had been holding back because of fear. They broke apart when air was required. But neither went far. They sat with foreheads touching.

Maura was the first to speak, "Wow."

"Yeah wow." was rasped out.

"Are you sure Jane?" Maura asked sensing where this was leading and knowing there would be no going backwards if they progressed any further.

"Yeah I'm sure." Jane said pulling away to look the woman in the eyes fully. Maura gasped as she saw the pure desire and love in the darkened chocolate eyes looking at her. "I sure but not sure on how..."

"Shhh..." a soft finger was placed on Jane's lips "... nature figures these things out." Maura said with a smile and took Jane's hand. She pulled her up off the couch and they walked hand and hand to the stairs stopping at the foot of the stair case, "I love you Maura Isles"... "I love you too Jane Rizzoli." That's all that needed to be said to steady any last nervousness or doubts that either one might have had as they climbed the stairs together.

Okay... I am tying up loose ends and bringing the theme back to the fore front. I also didn't want you folks to think I had stopped writing again. I promise another post by Sunday. I believe there is two more post and that should finish this story.
