Hey I made a typo last chap, I said Hera when I meant Terra! Sorry for that! Anyway, just so yall no I won't be updating tomorrow so I will update at least one more time today. and so you all know, I have managed to finish the SON plotline my guys, onto MoA. That's gonna be very fun. I has ideas. Anways, I hope you all enjoy this chapter, gotta love our blond superman.
Undeath9087: Yep, you can't blame her for being hurt at Thalia not mentioning it- I mean it was understandable why Thalia didn't but Annabeth's pretty fragile in a lot of ways at this stage.
Weirdhead: Yep, twas a typo I'm afraid. And yeah, the reunion is sweet I must admit. Gotta love emotional reunions.
The Official Clarisse: It was a typo! And yep, poor Leo- and yay for Thalia and Jason. also, poor Jason.
Guest: Sorry! Twas a typo.
Jason did not feel happy. He felt a lot of things, confused- definitely confused, and uneasy- this camp felt familiar but wrong, so wrong that it twisted something in the pit of his stomach- he didn't belong here he was sure of that even if he didn't know how. It felt crazy that so much had happened in less than a day- he'd woken up with no memories and honestly he didn't feel anymore clear on everything even now.
He was being used, he knew that much, like a pawn in a game of chess- and Leo was probably right about it being Hera. That felt right too.
And so did the thought of him being a child of Jupiter- or Zeus as everyone in this place kept calling him. Leo was right about that too he was sure of it- how else could he have survived a bolt of lightning to the chest.
And of course that made him think about the people he'd met- Piper... he felt bad about that. Clearly in whatever memories she'd had of him they were close- based on the fact they'd been holding hands they were very close, maybe dating. If that was the case then it had to be horrible for her to have her memories played with in such a way- violating even.
Especially since she seemed nice enough, though he didn't actually know her well.
And then there was Leo- he was weird- kind of crazy. He acted like a leader- he'd taken control when Jason had first woken up- it was obvious that the other teenager had experience- he'd known he was a demigod for a a while clearly- but there were moments when he acted like a little kid- when he'd hid behind Jason because of the megaphone prank- which Jason had to admit was kind of funny.
That felt weird for Jason- he didn't really understand how someone could pull pranks like that one minute and then take control and be- well, be a hero the next- Leo hadn't even hesitated with those wings- and he'd caught Piper- a fact Jason was painfully grateful for- though he knew if Leo hadn't had those wings he'd have jumped after her- and probably gotten himself killed in the process.
Coach Hedge- well he felt weird there too- like Fauns- Satyrs, shouldn't be acting like that usually.
And then there was Annabeth- he hadn't spoken much to Kayla, she hadn't really left an impression but the scary blonde girl had- she'd looked like she wanted to run him through she was so angry, she honestly did scare him.
And then... well, Thalia. His sister, apparently- that did feel new, really new and shocking too. But- it was kind of nice- he didn't feel like anyone had ever looked at him like that before- like he was the centre of their world in that moment. It made him feel almost safe, though he didn't know her well yet he was pretty sure he'd get along with her at least.
And there was Chiron too. Chiron who clearly knew something but wasn't willing to talk about it- who looked at him as if he was frightened of him, of what he meant.
The worst thing was a part of Jason thought he was right to be nervous- not that he knew why.
And... a great prophecy? That really didn't sound very good. Jason wasn't sure he wanted anything to do with some prophecy, especially not when he didn't have any memories of his life before this morning- and Leo's reaction was... surprising.
It was all so complicated and confusing for him- but he was weirdly grateful to Leo, he seemed to have a good head on his shoulders even if he could turn around and be an idiot five seconds later. And there was this prophecy Leo kept talking about. That sounded pretty big, surely something like that would be an honor
But no. Leo seemed resigned to his fate as a part of this prophecy- not excited- and angry too- he really wanted to know more about Leo's sister but he was pretty sure that if he asked it would end badly Thalia looked pretty upset at the thought of it to, so there was probably more to it than he was aware of right now and he didn't want to bring up anything too unpleasant.
He shifted uncomfortably, "Listen." He resisted the urge to cringe as everyone turned their head to look at him. "I hate to be self centred but- you know something Chiron, something you're not telling me." and Chiron sighed.
"I'm afraid I can't explain, my boy. I swore on the River Styx and on all things sacred that I would never …" Chiron frowned. "But you're here, in violation of the same oath. That too, should not be possible. I don't understand why Hera would do such a thing, especially now with Olympus-" and then something happened, Seymour the leopard howled. His mouth froze, half open. The arcade game that he'd been hearing in the background stopped beeping. The fire stopped crackling, its flames hardening like red glass. The masks stared down silently at Jason with their grotesque grape eyes and leafy tongues.
"Chiron?" Jason asked. "What's going—"
The old centaur had frozen, too. Jason jumped off the couch, twisting to look at Thalia and Leo- who were frozen, Leo stood looking very much like he wanted to fight someone, and Thalia with her head tilted slightly down- looking pained and sad. Chiron still had his mouth open, frozen mid speech.
"Jason," a voice said.
For a horrible moment, he thought the leopard had spoken. Then dark mist boiled out of Seymour's mouth, and an even worse thought occurred to Jason: storm spirits.
He grabbed the golden coin from his pocket. With a quick flip, it changed into a sword.
The mist took the form of a woman in black robes. Her face was hooded, but her eyes glowed in the darkness. Over her shoulders she wore a goatskin cloak. Jason wasn't sure how he knew it was goatskin, but he recognized it and knew it was important.
"Would you attack your patron?" the woman chided. Her voice echoed in Jason's head. "Lower your sword."
"Who are you?" he demanded. "How did you—"
"Our time is limited, Jason. My prison grows stronger by the hour. It took me a full month to gather enough energy to work even the smallest magic through its bonds. I've managed to bring you here, but now I have little time left, and even less power. This may be the last time I can speak to you."
"You're in prison?" Jason decided maybe he wouldn't lower his sword. "Look, I don't know you, and you're not my patron. "
"You know me," she insisted. "I have known you since your birth."
"I don't remember. I don't remember anything." his gaze flicked towards Thalia.
No, you don't, she agreed. That also was necessary. Long ago, your father gave me your life as a gift to placate my anger. He named you Jason, after my favorite mortal. You belong to me.
"Whoa," Jason said. "I don't belong to anyone- and are you saying that you're the one who took my memories- you're Ju-Hera. You-" his eyes flicked to Thalia, "You took me from my sister-"
"My husband should have never strayed." the goddess' voice was disdainful as she looked at Thalia, "You two could not be allowed to be raised together. You were lucky that I accepted you as my champion. Now is the time to pay your debt, she said. Find my prison. Free me, or their king will rise from the earth, and I will be destroyed. You will never retrieve your memory."
"That's a threat!" Jason's eyes widened and he glared at her "You can't do this to me!"
"I can do what I like to you. You are my champion Jason. You should be grateful, as should young Leo. When the time comes he will understand." she glanced towards Leo, "He has come along very nicely even if he was introduced to this world much sooner than I thought he would be. He will do very well when the time comes. And if he refuses tell him that his sisters sacrifice will have been in vain-"
"His sister's- what are you talking about?"
"You will understand in time. You have until sunset on the solstice, Jason. Four short days. Do not fail me."
The dark woman dissolved, and the mist curled into the leopard's mouth.
"Come back!" Jason almost screamed the words, lunging towards her and through the smoke as time unfroze around them, and Thalia let out a startled noise and Leo yelped, flailing as he stumbled backwards at the sight of Jason almost crashing into the wall next to Seymour's head.
"-closed off-" Chiron's eyes widened, "Jason what-" he looked around, "What just happened you were just sat-"
"Jason are you okay?" Thalia's voice was panicked, "Are you okay?"
"You look like you've seen a ghost dude." Leo's brows furrowed, "You okay?"
"No." Jason's voice was shaky, "It wasn't a ghost it was a goddess-"
"What?" Chiron paled, "What do you mean-"
"She was here!" Jason straightened up, rubbing his aching shoulder as he did, "She was here. Hera was here-"
"Where?" Leo snarled the word, looking around clearly ready to fight as Thalia rocketed to her feet.
"Did she hurt you-"
"No." Jason shook his head. "No she just- she said that I'm her champion." he pulled a face, "That I was lucky she accepted me-"
"That bitch is the reason I lost you." Thalia snapped the words, "I'm going to kill her-"
"Get in line." Leo scowled, "She's been messing with me for years-"
"She said about you too." Jason swung his gaze to Leo, "She said you were her other little her-"
"She can shove that up her ass la maldita perra. Si ella quiere un héroe, puede ir a buscar a alguien más."
Jason blinked and Chiron sighed loudly, "Leo- while I appreciate your strength of feeling on the matter-"
"No. No she made my life hell when I was little, I want nothing to do with her I never have!"
"I really wish I knew what you just said." Thalia gave a slow smirk, "Can someone teach me spanish-"
"I-" Leo blinked, "I started speaking spanish part way through my sentence didn't I? I only do that when I'm really really annoyed."
"I don't blame you. She's the one who took my memories she admitted it. Apparently-" Jason grimaced, "Apparently she's imprisoned somewhere. If I want my memories back then we're going to have to save her." he gave Leo an apologetic look but it was Thalia who sneered.
"You should leave her to rot wherever she is- it's the least she deserves for everything she's done- we'll find another way to make you remember-"
"Thalia-"
"No-" Thalia must have seen something in his expression because she tensed, "No- no you- you're going to do it? You're actually going to go and save the bitch who stole you from me?"
"Thalia I-"
"Oh fuck this!" Thalia whirled around and stormed out, the door slamming shut behind her so hard that it made the leaves of the vines on the walls tremble.
"Ah." Chiron winced, "Perhaps Luke will be able to soothe her temper." he said slowly. "It is understandable-"
"Yeah." Leo spat the words, "Since Hera tried to kill her and Annabeth while we were saving the gods asses." he looked at Jason, "I'm sorry dude- I really am but if we have to save her you can do it without me-"
"She said that you don't do it your sisters sacrifice will have been in vain." Jason flinched when Leo's eyes widened, and then his hands burst into flame and Chiron let out a yell.
"Leo stop that right now-"
"She's has the nerve to bring up- to manipulate- she-" he was shaking, "That bitch that fucking bitch I could kill her-" and there were tears in Leo's eyes Jason realised. "If Percy was- she- fuck I hate her I hate that bitch but I can't- she... it can't be in vain and now I have to save a goddess Percy hated-"
"We can." Jason's voice was more confident than he felt- and he tried to sound reassuring, "We'll save her together- not for her sake but for your sister, and for my memories."
And Leo faltered, gaze focusing on Jason, and he stared for a long moment before he moved closer to Jason, holding out his hand, "Alright Jason Grace." and Jason didn't falter, taking the offered hand and shaking it.
"And hey, maybe once we've rescued her we can kick her ass and when you're ready you can explain what's going on with everything?"
"I like your style." Leo grinned at Jason, and Jason found himself grinning back.
Leo might be a bit weird at times, but for some reason he felt that they were going to be great friends."
*Spanish translation based off google translate* The damn bitch if she wants a hero she can go find someone else.
