Chapter 8

"Alright, I'm glad that's over with. You can all go to lunch a little early. No eating outside today, the press is making a spectacle of themselves." Mr. Aizawa rolled back into his sleeping bag, not even caring that we witnessed him basically giving up for the day. I sighed and stood up, dodging Kirishima who immediately latched on to Bakugo.

"Get the fuck off of me you damn extra!"

I snickered and followed Ochako and Izuku out, Shinsou trailing behind us in a tired daze. I grabbed his hand and made him walk faster, earning a few curious glances from our classmates.

We grabbed our food and quickly found an empty table seeing as we were let out early and most of the student body wasn't present yet. Shinsou didn't hesitate to sit next to me and dragged his chair closer to mine, pressing our knees together.

"You two are awfully close," Ochako hummed. I shot her a look and Shinsou sighed, looking up at her.

"We're friends and she doesn't annoy me like most people." He picked his food back up and ignored the conversation. Huffing, I gave Ochako a look and she turned bright red when I glanced between Midoriya and her.

The conversation picked back up but once again stuttered to a halt when Bakugo plopped down next to Shinsou. Kirishima, Kaminari, Sero, and Mina quickly joined our group; crowding the once empty table.

"Well, this is a fun group," Shinsou snarked while nudging Bakugo with his shoulder.

"Shut the fuck up, zombie. I tried to get rid of them but nothing fucking worked." His anguished growl had me almost losing it but I managed to hold my cackle in. Bakugo reached over and shoved me, hand lingering on my shoulder.

Suddenly, the alarms started blaring and before I could even process what was happening, I found myself being pulled along by my two soulmates - their bodies protecting mine. My anxiety clawed its way up my throat but I forced it down, knowing that a hero had to be ready for any situation.

You've trained for this. Just breathe deeply and focus on what you can control. I gripped their hands tighter and yanked them away from the crowd, towards an entrance that only the teachers used.

We raced down the corridor and paused as we looked out the window. The media were standing in the middle of the courtyard, hounding the teachers trying to get them to leave.

"There is no way that the media could be causing all this fuss." I stated, dragging them further down the empty hallway.

I was yanked back right before a knife was able to slice across my face, both the boys taking a stance in front of me. Turning so that the three villains couldn't see my hands, I whipped out my phone and shot out a quick text. I turned back around and crossed my arms, surveying the situation. I gripped Bakugo's elbow to hold him back while speaking to Shinsou.

"You can handle this, eyebags. We have faith in your abilities." I could tell by the look he shot me that he wasn't sure. He was always so anxious we would leave him because of his quirk.

"Why the fuck does he get to have all the fun?!" Bakugo snarled, lunging forward as if to attack the trio.

I yanked him back, thankful for the aid of my forcefields. I whispered in his ear about taking them out quietly in case anyone else was nearby. He barely bought it. Mumbling under his breath the entire time I was holding him hostage.

"Oi, zombie! Take care of them before they make a move," Bakugo shouted, making the three men in front of us laugh. Shinsou sighed and asked the men what they were doing at Yuei.

"Oh, you think you can talk your way out of this, brat?" The one in the front sneered.

"Yeah, if you think you're going to get out of this easily, you fuc-" Shinsou smirked and the two that had spoken froze, eyes turning dull.

"Oi, don't use that fucking language around Ren!" I burst out laughing and Shinsou snorted at Bakugo's ironic statement.

"Hey, shut up you idiots! You don't know the kid's quirk!" The third man shouted, not aware that his accomplices were already caught up in Shinsou's brainwashing.

"You two, knock out your friend and tie him up." They did exactly as he said before the other could understand what was going on. He had the leader do the same thing to the other man and then Eraserhead popped up beside me.

I gave him a smile, announcing his presence to the boys. "Looks like our hero has come to the rescue. What ever would we do without you?" He snorted and walked forward, placing a hand on Shinsou's shoulder.

"Good job, kids. You handled the situation well." Present Mic and All Might appeared as the villain started spilling everything he knew, which admittedly, wasn't much.

The pros took over and we headed back to the classroom, taking our sweet time since we knew the teachers would be occupied. I laced my fingers through both of their hands and pulled them close, allowing them to melt away my lingering anxiety.

"You know, we will make an overpowered team once we get really good with our quirks. We have the ability to sneak attack with your brainwashing. We have some serious firepower with your explosions. My shield can protect us from most attacks AND we all have some serious hand-to-hand combat training."

Shinsou paused, forcing Bakugo and myself to stop and give him our full attention. He stared at his shoes for a while and I shot the blond a look, seeing he was concerned, as well.

"What's wrong, Shinsou?" Bakugo using his actual name had his head shooting up, finally noticing the looks we were giving him.

He had stepped in front of our purpled haired friend, placing a hand on his shoulder. "I just feel like at some point you'll both realize that you want to leave. That I'm not worth the effort."

Bakugo snorted and yanked him into his chest, giving him a hug. I jumped in and hugged Shinsou's back, hands fisting into Bakugo's jacket.

"Why the hell would you say some stupid shit like that. We each support one another in different ways, and Ren's right. We're going to make a boss ass team."

I nodded and hugged him tighter. "Shinsou, we don't judge you for your quirk. We have never once seen you as a villain. You're not a bad person and you would literally kick yourself in the face if you tried something actually villainous!"

A throat being cleared broke us apart. Monoma from class 1-B was staring at us with a devious smirk. "Well, well, well! What do we have-"

"Shut up, forget you saw this, and go to class." He followed the instructions and I couldn't help but snicker.

"Shinsou, I love your quirk," I sang as I yanked them to the classroom.

Iida immediately jumped in front of us, arm waving in distress. "ARE YOU THREE ALRIGHT?! THERE HAS BEEN A LOCKDOWN INITIATED UNTIL THE TEACHERS DEAL WITH THE THREAT AND WE DIDN'T KNOW WHERE YOU HAD ALL GONE AND-"

I held up a hand and grabbed his waving arm, trying to calm him down.

"Iida, we're fine. We actually met up with a few teachers and they knew where we were." He nodded and placed his other hand over mine.

"I'm so glad you are all alright. I was worried." Bakugo tsked and Shinsou reached out and pulled my hand back, giving Iida a measured look.

"We appreciate your concern. Now, can we sit down?" Iida nodded vigorously and stepped out of our way.

The girls swarmed my desk when I sat down and I snickered, noticing Shinsou plopping down on Bakugo's desk-top, being quickly surrounded by the boys. We quietly filled the class in on what happened, the three of us telling portions in turn.

This is nice. It truly feels like a family or something like that.

Mr. Aizawa walked in and his demeanor had us all coming to attention, bodies quickly finding their proper places. He sighed and ran a hand over his face and then looked at us.

"I am not good at this crap. Look, some things have happened here and out in the city. You weren't supposed to move into the dorms until your second year but things have changed. Things outside of your control have put you in danger and we, as a school, don't want to throw you to the wolves without proper training. So, we will be getting permission from your guardians for you all to move in by Friday of this week."

The class erupted into chaos. Many people were asking excited questions and a few were asking about what else had happened to encourage this decision. Aizawa sighed and looked around, eyes locking on my face.

"Ren, I need to speak with you. Everyone else, you're dismissed for the day." I stayed seated as the class packed up around me. Kirishima turned around and gave me a wink, stating he would see me tomorrow.

I wasn't surprised when Bakugo and Shinsou didn't move, both watching me slowly pack my things up. I slung my bag over my shoulder and walked up to the front, stopping in front of Mr. Aizawa. He gave the boys a look as they walked up behind me and rolled his eyes, accepting that they wouldn't be leaving.

"Ren, there was an incident at your house. A note was left in your mailbox and your guardians have already started moving your things." I froze and looked down, not seeing the room around me.

FLASHBACK

Momma grabbed me and we started running.

I didn't know what was going on but I knew momma wouldn't hurt me. She never had before.

We made it out and I fell, dragging momma down with me. She picked me up, wincing as her bruises were jostled.

A car was waiting for us and we jumped in.

I didn't say anything, having been conditioned to not being heard or seen.

Then, something strange happened.

The car pulled over and the driver ran, leaving us to fend for ourselves.

Momma was scared, I could feel her trembling.

I looked up when the door was torn off its hinges and daddy stood there, glaring at us.

"Get. Out. Of. The. Car."

When she didn't move fast enough, he grabbed her by the hair and yanked her out.

Her face was met by his knee and a sick crunching noise was heard.

Rain started cascading down as he kicked her repeatedly.

I couldn't tear my eyes off of her battered body, praying she would get back up and hit him back.

Her arm raised up and he slammed his foot down on her head.

She never got back up.

END FLASHBACK

A hand on my back and another on my shoulder had me jerking back to reality and I started sobbing, dropping to my knees.

"He's going to find me. He always finds me. There is no escaping that man." I started hyperventilating and two pairs of arms wrapped around me.

When I resurfaced, I was sandwiched between the two boys, my face buried in Shinsou's chest. I turned my face and locked eyes with Mr. Aizawa, noticing the concern in his eyes.

"Ren, he will never take you back and if by some chance he finds you, we will never let him keep you."

I nodded and buried my face again, not worrying that I was definitely soiling his shirt.

"No fucking way does that bastard ever take you from us," Bakugo growled and I felt the vibrations through my chest. Pulling away, I wiped my face and gave them all a sheepish look.

"Sorry about that."

"Don't apologize," Shinsou stated quietly. "You have every right to fear going back into that situation."

I nodded and smiled, suddenly feeling very safe. "Alright. Can I see my dorm then?"

Mr. Aizawa nodded and led the three of us to the dorm buildings. None of us were surprised to see the Bakugos and Present Mic tagging along. We viewed my room and I cackled as several boxes for Bakugo and Shinsou magically appeared down the hall on the same floor.
