Some of the future chapters become a bit more gray on if they should be t or m so I changed it presumptively just in case. Nothing explicit, but just covering myself.

No missed arc, it was mentioned slightly the past two chapters. It was one of the things that happened in the five year jump.
"Okay, granola, almond milk, bread, all I need is the peanut butter." Ash said begrudgingly.
"Well, hello there pretty lady." The man said.
"Hello Mr Howard." Ash said plainly, looking at the peanut butter.
"So when do you turn eighteen?" Mr Howard asked.
"A few weeks ago, and if you try anything, I have my hand on something far worse than a panic button." Ash threatened, his hand holding a Pokeball.
"Come on, just give me a chance." Mr Howard said, grabbing Ash's arm, causing him to drop the pokeball.
"Let go!" Ash said, pulling back.
"Come on, you just happen to be wearing a skirt when you come to see me, just accept it." Mr Howard said.
"She said no." A mans voice said, pushing Mr. Howard away. "Are you okay?" He asked Ash.
"Yeah, thanks for the save." Ash said, gathering the groceries. "It's you! From the airport! Five years ago, you caught me in the airport."
"Hehe, who'd have thought I'd see you again." The man said. "What are you doing here?"
"I live here, at least for now. What brings you to Vermillion?" Ash asked, fixing his hair.
"I'm actually here to see my son, but let me make sure you make it back okay." The man said.
"But your son, shouldn't you go see him?" Ash asked.
"It's a surprise, and he'd understand if I took a few minutes to help you." The man said.
They made idle chat, as they walked back to the lab.
"Didn't you say you were going home?" The man asked.
"I know it's not exactly home, but I'm a research assistant here." Ash said.
"Small world, my son is a researcher here." The man said.
"Oh, you're Ren's dad?" Ash asked surprised.
"No, I'm Ash's." The man said.
Ash gulped inwardly. "Well, I need to make sure it's okay, but for now you can wait in this room." Ash said.
"Not a problem." Ash's dad said.
Once the doors were closed, Ash sprinted to the main lab.
"Guys we have a problem!" Ash said in a panicked voice.
"What's the problem, was it Mr Howard again?" Chloe asked.
"Yes, and no. My dad saved me." Ash said.
"That's good." Ren said.
"He's here to see me." Ash said.
"That's great." Goh said
"He thinks I'm a girl, and that Ash is here already." Ash pointed out.
"That could be a problem." Professor Cerise said.
"Also Ren, from now on you can get your own peanut butter." Ash said. "Seriously though, what am I going to do?"
"Tell him the truth." Goh offered.
"Great idea Goh, after a decade and a half of being away, I'm sure he'll be thrilled I look like this." Ash said.
"Man up." Chloe said.
"I'm not running away, I just need a plan." Ash said.
"And that's the plan. Man up. You've been out of your binder for a few hours, put a clean one on, we probably have some clothes lying around that'll fit poorly, and mess your hair up." Chloe said.
"Might be crazy enough to work." Ash said. "Professor, stall him. Chloe I need your help."
A while later
"So where is my son right now, you've shown me his work, his station, even some of his Pokémon, but I haven't seen him." Ash's dad said.
"I'm right here." Ash said from the doorway, deepening his voice slightly.
"Haha, just like your old man." Ash's dad said, putting his hands on Ash's shoulders.
"Why are you here dad?" Ash asked.
"Well, I'm here to see you of course." Ash's dad said.
"I've been here for over five years, try again." Ash said.
"I still need to regain my title, meaning I need to get to Lance's ranking. I need you to give me your title of champion." Ash's dad said, as if it was easy.
"No. That's not how it works." Ash said sternly.
"Then I'll make an offer you can't refuse." Ash's dad said pulling up his phone, sending Ash a challenge. "If I win, you give up your title, you win, I'll do whatever you ask."
"Ash, you can't accept that!" Chloe exclaimed.
"It's a challenge, I won't turn it down, or lose." Ash said.
"Don't think I'll go easy on you kid." Ash's dad said.
"We have a league registered arena on site, how many Pokémon will we be using?" Ash asked calmly.
"It's a title match, full six on six." Ash's dad said.
A bit later, Ash met his dad in the battlefield.
"Rapidash, let's go!" Ash's dad called out.
"You want the title of Alola's champion, then fight his winning team." Ash said. "Lycanroc come on out!"
"Rapidash use Flame Charge!"
"Lycanroc use Accelerock!"
The two Pokémon sped at each other butting their heads.
"Rapidash use Stomp!"
"Lycanroc use Stone Edge!"
Rapidash was stuck in place as the rocks jutted out from the ground.
"Rapidash use Bounce!"
"Lycanroc use Accelerock!"
Rapidash struggled itself free, launching into the air.
"Lycanroc use Counter!"
As Rapidash landed, Lycanroc used its own weight to throw the damage back at Rapidash, knocking it out.
"You got lucky kid. Rapidash return. Poliwrath, let's go! Use Hydro Pump!"
"Lycanroc use Crunch!"
Lycanroc leapt over the water striking down on the Poliwrath.
"Poliwrath use Focus Punch!"
"Lycanroc use Counter!"
Lycanroc was struck in his stomach, sending him tumbling back before he could counter attack.
"Lycanroc come back. Rowlet let's go! Use Seed Bomb!"
"Poliwrath use Body Slam!"
Rowlet launched an attack at Poliwrath, knocking the Pokémon off course .
"Poliwrath use Hydro Pump!"
"Rowlet use Brave Bird!"
Rowlet dove down, straight into Poliwrath, and then kept going, digging the Pokémon into the ground.
"Poliwrath use Ice Beam!"
"Rowlet use Feather Dance!"
As the beam struck Rowlet, he exploded into a burst of feathers. Rowlet suddenly appeared behind Poliwrath, striking it to the ground.
"Rowlet use Seed Bomb!"
"Poliwrath use Focus Punch!"
By the time Poliwrath had turned around, it was hit by Rowlet's attack, and the small bird was long gone from the others' range.
"Rowlet use Shadow Claw!"
"Poliwrath use Focus Punch!"
The two Pokémon collided, the damages doing their toll on Poliwrath, knocking it out.
"Nidoking! Let's go!"
"Rowlet come back. Melmetal I choose you!"
"Nidoking use Earth Power!"
"Melmetal use Double Iron Bash!"
"What's going on here?" Serena asked sitting down next to Chloe.
"Ash is battling his dad for the champion title." Goh said leaning in.
"And why does Ash look like that?" Serena asked.
"Ash's dad has already met Ash, but doesn't know that that's how Ash really looks." Chloe said.
"Final question, how's you make Ash look like that?" Serena asked.
"Binder, foam padding, and some old clothes and a hat to hide his hair." Chloe gloated.
"Melmetal use Flash Cannon!"
"Nidoking use Flamethrower!"
The two beams connected, resulting in a smoke cloud.
"Melmetal use Double Iron Bash!"
Out of the smoke, Melmetal's fists came flying at Nidoking, sending it hurdling into a wall.
"Nidoking come back. Raichu, I choose you!"
"Melmetal tag out. Pikachu, let's end this."
"Raichu use Thunderbolt!"
"Pikachu use your own Thunderbolt!"
The two thunderbolts collided, releasing a shockwave that blew across the stadium.
As Ash's father looked back up, he didn't see his son, but that girl from before!
"Where is my son! This is not a game!" Ash's dad yelled.
"I'm right here." Ash said, not realizing his disguise had come loose.
"Uhh, Ash. Look down." Goh said.
Ash saw that the padding had shifted, and his hat had fallen off.
"Oh, not good." Ash said.
"I knew it was a bad idea. I should've taken you with me! Leaving you with your mother made you weak!" Ash's dad scolded.
"Weak, I'm beating you three to nothing!" Ash said.
"You're a freak!" Ash's dad shouted. "You look like a girl, dress like a girl, even sound like a girl!"
"Mom was right, you are bad for me." Ash said calmly.
"Oh, I'm not bad, I'm going to make you right!" Ash's dad said walking forward. "I don't care what it takes, I'll make you normal."
"I'm perfectly normal. You just don't see that." Ash said, taking a step back, tripping over the fallen padding.
"You're coming with me!" Ash's dad said reaching for his son.
'POW!'
"Goh!?" Ash said in shock. Serena hadn't even made it halfway before Goh had landed the punch.
"No one calls Ash a freak, and he's not going anywhere." Goh said, moving his fist. "That felt really good."
"I won our battle, now leave, and don't come back." Ash said, standing over his father. "Next time, I won't go so easy." Ash could hear the ticker for his number rapidly increase, but he needed to make sure his dad left.
"Bunch of freaks. I'll report this, and get all of your titles revoked!" Ash's dad said somewhat hysterically.
"Good luck with that." Professor Cerise said calmly. "Now I believe you've overstayed your welcome, leave or I will call the cops for you attempting to harm my staff."
