Summary: From fighting demons 500 years in the past, to moving all the way across the world with a certain demon lord acting as her father- and doing a terrifyingly bang-up job at it, Kagome's life is anything but boring. Her hope for peace and quiet is shattered when she meets Peter Parker. Oh well, she can't be mad. She's used to it- though she's not particularly fond of web swinging...

Chapter One

Their home was a decently sized one in the suburbs, a quiet street with unsuspecting neighbors as to who'd just moved in next door to them. Kagome was quiet as she gazed up at the two-story home, instantly able to place the differences it had from the shrine she'd grown up in.

This house lacked the comforting aura the shrine possessed as sacred grounds. It almost felt imposing, in a way. It wasn't familiar by any means and having Sesshoumaru, of all people, as her only companion so far felt strange. Not bad, but not what she'd consider good, either. Without the aura of the well looming over her, it wasn't so awful, she realized then. She wasn't sure if she could get used to living in a place that didn't have that constant reminder, but maybe it wouldn't hurt to try.

She closed her eyes, a chill racing down her spine at the memory of her first time going down the well. The icy hands sinking into her shoulders and forcing her back until her weight finally tipped. Kagome tightened her arms around her and suppressed the desire to stiffen up at the memory of that moment. No matter what had come out of it, that moment… she didn't like it.

She snaked a hand up to grip the pearlescent pink jewel that was hanging from her necklace. Even though it was all said and done, that didn't mean the jewel agreed. It was still active as ever. She'd be lying if she said she chose to become its guardian. She didn't have a choice in the matter, in the end. The jewel refused to concede and fade away from the realm of the living for good, and that left her as the only one able to take it into her care. She was unaffected by the dark influences that surged through it. She was immune to the corruption it sought to unleash.

She'd never be without it, it seemed. She was strong enough to take down demons who might come crawling to the jewel, so she wasn't worried about it in the end, but it still was a burden she wished she could cast away and forget about. If she'd never had the jewel in her body, then she would've never gotten pulled into the past in the first place. She could be living a normal life, blissfully unaware of everything else.

The thought of that made her feel odd on the inside. She knew that, even if she'd been given the choice to erase all that'd been done from the world's events, she'd never do it. It'd be throwing away a huge part of her, and she wasn't willing to do that.

She felt the pressure of a gaze leveled on her turned back, and she forced herself from her inner musings. She resisted the urge to shake her head as she glanced up from the ground, letting her stare return to the building they stood outside of.

"It looks nice," she finally said to the demon occupying the area with her. She glanced back at him with a smile on her face, and they finally started on their way inside.

It wasn't home. Not yet, but… perhaps after staying here for a while, she'd start to warm up to it.

She was optimistic, anyway.

Despite the unfamiliarity she felt, she felt a flutter in her heart.

Not too bad for a new beginning.

Her bedroom was on the second floor, the last room on the left. It didn't have any decorations within it, just a bed and desk already set up in there. Her things were placed on the floor, neatly stacked and lined up against the furthest wall for her to unpack.

Sesshoumaru paused in the doorway, glancing into the room she stood in. Kagome turned to face him when she felt his presence, pausing in what she'd been doing. "The only thing I had changed about it is the room color," he said. Kagome automatically looked at the muted lilac color that coated the walls. It was a nice swap-up from her pink childhood bedroom. "I declined the idea of decorating it for you," he commented. "As this will be your room, that's a task better left up to you."

Kagome blinked owlishly as he said those words, nodding a second later. A smile soon morphed onto her face. "Thanks, Sesshoumaru," she responded. She paused and looked back at the walls. "The color is really nice." It was a color she would've chosen on her own, if given the possibility.

As she was left on her own, she hummed softly and walked a bit more into the room, gazing around as she did and familiarizing herself with the look of it.

This room was larger than her one at the shrine, and it felt even more spacious with its lacking decor. The back wall had two large windows on either side of a set of double doors. Sheer, white curtains were pulled to the side, halfway exposing the windows. She walked over to the double doors. They were glass with ornate gold handles, along with a matching lock. Kagome peered through the glass, making out the walk-on balcony that was located just on the other side. A few flowering plants were set out there for decoration.

Kagome unlocked the doors and pushed them open so she could step out onto the balcony. It wasn't large, but it was spacious enough to fit a table and a few chairs, at least.

She paused at the white-painted wooden railing and rested her hands on it. The wood was smooth and was pristinely clean. She turned her gaze up to the sky above her, constellations of stars painting the otherwise dark canvas. She was amazed that even in the city, she still was able to see the little lights that peppered the galaxy. The moon was high in the sky that night, a pale ivory glow being cast from it.

The moon soon vanished behind a cloud, and she decided to head back inside. She returned to the warmth of her room, shutting and locking the doors to the balcony behind her. She made her way over to one of the windows, undoing the tie that held the curtains in place and letting them flow to cover the windows. She then did the same with the other window. They were soft and luxurious under the caress of her fingertips.

She leaned back against the closed doors, blue eyes taking in the rest of her new room.

Her bed, large and covered in matching lilac and white blankets and pillows, was set up so the headboard rested against the wall behind it. It was situated in the middle of the wall, with a cherrywood desk a few feet away from it. On the opposite side of her bed was a door that led to her closet. It was partially opened, and she closed it before heading over to her bed and sinking down on the plush, soft mattress.

Her gaze lingered on her things still waiting to be unpacked before she pushed them to the back of her mind.

"I'll start on it tomorrow," she mumbled softly. She let her weight fall backward as she laid back with a sigh. She was too exhausted to get to it now.

The next week flew by for her as she got settled and adjusted to all the changes the move brought. Before she knew it, it was already time for her to start school here.

Over the week, she'd done all her unpacking and she focused on decorating her room how she wanted. With a few comforts she'd brought over from her old bedroom, it felt a bit more homey to her. At least, her room did.

She was woken up early that Monday by her alarm, and she sat up slowly, rubbing the sleep from her eyes as she yawned. Sunlight peeked in through the windows, the bright shine somewhat blocked out by a different, darker set of curtains she'd put up.

She made her way over to her closet, letting her eyes scan over the clothes hanging up inside for a moment as she contemplated what to wear. For her whole life, she'd gone to schools where uniforms were mandatory, so having the freedom to wear something of her own choice, while it was a nice change from what she was used to, was a bit troubling.

"Hmm…" She contemplated her choices for a moment before finally deciding, tugging a navy, knee-length dress from the section directly in front of her.

She changed into it and paused to look at her reflection in the full-length mirror she had set up along her wall. She tied the belt that was attached to the dress before fixing the collar in place. The sleeves stopped at her elbows, cuffs folded up and buttoned neatly.

Once she was satisfied with the appearance of her clothing, she grabbed her brush from her desk and pulled her hair from the bun she'd put it up in overnight. She brushed out the long, wavy locks and let them remain free, falling down to the small of her back. She set her brush back down, her hand pausing mid-reach when she went to grasp the pink bauble hanging on its chain with a few other necklaces.

Kagome sighed and grabbed it by the string, gently tugging it off of its perch with the rest. She looked it over with a mild glare on her face.

She knew it didn't look like much, and that, to anyone unsuspecting, it was just a pretty jewel. It was a permanent addition to her look. At least, that's what it felt like. As much as she… disliked it, she knew she had to suck it up and deal with it and whatever uglies it'd call to her with its foul aura.

She sighed again, this time louder than before, and fastened the chain around her neck. The jewel fell to rest just below her collar bones, the bauble fitting against the neckline of her dress.

After slipping on her socks and shoes, dark boots that matched the navy color of her dress, Kagome grabbed her bag and left her room, closing the door behind her.

She could tell where Sesshoumaru was by his aura, so she wasn't surprised when she went down the stairs and wandered into the kitchen to spot him leaning against the counter, mug in one hand and papers in the other.

"So, what's the chance I can get out of the escort?" she asked as she came to a halt in front of him. He glanced up from the papers, blue eyes scanning over her as he took in her clothing choice.

"Oh, there is no chance," he responded, taking a sip of wherever it was in his mug. She assumed it was tea, due to the lacking aroma of coffee that morning. "There's no point, since we're going to the same place, after all."

Kagome held back on her desire to groan. She leaned against the counter, mimicking his stance as she eyed him. "Who in their right mind would let you become a teacher?" she deadpanned. Sesshoumaru smirked in response.

His hair and eyes were no longer the breathtaking silver and luxurious gold she was so familiar with. It'd thrown her for a loop the first time she caught sight of him like this, and each time she saw him after did nothing to help her adjust.

Though his hair was still long and envy-worthy for its flawless condition, it was a deep blue-black that matched her own nearly perfectly. His had more of a black tone to it, while there was a bit more blue in her own. His once golden gaze was now a deep shade of sapphire, a bit more deeper than her own blue eyes. It was a nice look on him, sure. After all, she was positive he could make any color combination look absolutely flawless, but still. It really didn't help for him to have his markings hidden, either.

It was a far cry from what she knew when it came to him, and she definitely preferred the gold and silver. She knew why he'd changed his appearance- to make the cover of him being her father ring more true, but even that wasn't enough to help her adjust.

Her thoughts swapped back to the prior topic and she let her shoulders slump as she let out a conceding sigh. She'd been arguing against this for the majority of the week since it was even brought up- when she'd asked how he'd picked the school she'd be attending, and, now that the first day was moments away, she knew there wasn't a chance of her getting out of it.

"Ready to leave?" he asked, and she nodded slowly.

"Yeah, guess so," she responded as she turned and made her way to the door.

All else aside, this wasn't too bad.

"You'll need to go to the office to get everything you'll need," Sesshoumaru stated as they finally reached the school. He got out of the parked car as she followed suit, glancing her way once they were both out. "I'll walk you there so you can find it."

Kagome puffed her cheeks out in a pout. "I'm not a child, you know," she retorted dryly. He wasn't fazed in the slightest by her response. "I can find it just fine on my own."

He arched a brow in response, and Kagome immediately spun on her heel when he gave her a curious hum. "Oddly enough, part of me severely doubts that." He waited for her to circle around and join him, but she never did. Instead, she started on her way to the school on her own, a mild huff leaving her.

"Fine! See for yourself," she responded, leaving him behind. She could feel his amused aura even as she got further away from him, and she tilted her nose up into the air in a deeper pout. "Don't worry about little ol' me any!"

000

Seven minutes.

That was all it took for her to get lost in the new environment. She came to a halt, irritation flashing through pretty blue eyes as she looked around.

She'd been down this hall three times already. When did she even get turned around again?

The halls were full of loud voices from all sides, but she was able to tune those out fairly easily. The auras that surrounded her, however, were a different story altogether. She could, very faintly, feel Sesshoumaru's aura. If she followed it, then she'd run into him in no time.

She paused before she could take a single step, fighting the urge to shake her head. She couldn't go back to him asking for his help, not now. She knew that if she did, then he would never let it go.

Someone was walking towards her, and she took her chance. Moving to stand directly in front of the girl, she offered her a smile and waved. "Hey, you got a moment?" she asked without waiting. The other girl came to a halt, eying her up and down, but Kagome didn't pay any attention to it.

"Uh, sure?" she responded after a moment, and Kagome smiled a bit brighter.

"Great," she said. "Because I've ended up in this same stupid hall three times already. How do I find the office in this place?"

"Oh, you're new then," the other girl responded. "Never seen you around before."

Kagome nodded. "Yeah," she answered honestly. "I'm Kagome, by the way."

"Just call me MJ," the other girl responded, shrugging her shoulders.

"It's nice to meet you," Kagome said. "So…?" she hummed, waiting for any sort of answer to her prior question. "Mind giving me some directions to the office?"

"Oh, right," MJ said. "If you just head back that way," she said, pointing down to the other end of the hall, "hang a left and go down that other hall it should take you right to it."

She remembered the hall MJ was talking about. She'd contemplated going down it, but a mass of students cluttering it and talking made her opt to ignore it. "Right, the one where everyone's gathered."

"Yeah, ignore them and push them aside," MJ responded. "They're a bunch of idiots."

Kagome smiled and stifled a laugh. "Well, thanks," she said. Before she left she offered MJ a wave. "Catch you around then, MJ!"

"Oh, yeah, sure," she responded as the raven-haired girl turned and vanished among the gathered students.

Auroua-chan: Finally finished the update for this. I've been offline for a while due to IRL things.

Anyway, Sesshoumaru's a teacher at her school, and Kagome met MJ. It won't be long before she befriends her. Really, it won't.

The jewel's still around, so it might be a problem here and there.

Kagome's gonna have a slight hunch that Peter's not normal by his aura, but she won't say anything about it.

I'm still considering if I want there to be an archery club for her to join or not. If not, she might be the one to start it. She'll be in a few different clubs, anyway, so if archery isn't one of them, it'll still be a hobby for her.

Anyway, that's it for now! Thank you all for reading, and I hope you all enjoyed! Hopefully I caught all the errors before I posted, but if not sorry.

Please remember to Review&Favorite&Follow, thank you!

Bye for now~
