At the lab

"And you should be all set." A worker from Silph said, standing up. "Looks like an electrical surge messed with the system, try and be careful in the future."

"Thank you again." Professor Cerise said, escorting the worker out.

At Goh's house

"And yet another box with no coin." Goh said sighing.

"What are you looking for sweetie?" Goh's mom asked.

"A coin, a really old coin, it was with my things before I left." Goh said. "Have you seen it?"

"I don't think so, but any money you had was put in a lock box by your father." Goh's mom said. "You can ask him when he gets home from work."

Later that evening

"So, there's a problem." Goh said, spinning in a chair at the lab.

"What's that?" Chloe asked.

"The item that I believe is linked to Registeel is missing." Goh said. "It's not in any of the boxes at my house, or in a lockbox of my money."

"Goh, hopefully it wasn't the item, but it's late and we have school in the morning." Serena said.

"But, what about the Regi project?" Goh asked.

"Unless Registeel is particularly more chatty than Regirock, the item doesn't do us much good anyway." Serena said.

"Sorry man, if you get any idea of where it might be, I'll help though." Ash said, walking towards his room.

'Knock knock knock'

Ash looked at his clock, it was just past midnight, who was trying to get his attention at this time?

'Knock knock knock'

"Yeah yeah, I'm coming, hold on." Ash grumbled, shuffling towards his door.

"Get dressed. I know where the coin is." Goh said, a crazy look in his eye.

High in the sky on Golurk

"You know when I offered my help, I meant during the daytime right?" Ash pointed out.

"Just trust me, the coin is still where I first went after I left. I'm sure of it." Goh said.

"What makes you so sure this time?" Ash asked.

"I had to leave all material possessions behind when I entered, and when I left, I didn't take my old clothes." Goh said.

"So you're saying if your clothes are still there from five years ago…". Ash began.

"Than the coin linked to Registeel should be to." Goh said. "Also why did you dress in your school uniform?"

"In case we don't make it back early enough for me to change." Ash said.

"Yeah, about that, kinda forgot to mention, we're going far into mountain range separating Kanto and Johto." Goh said.

"Of course we are, and why is it just us?" Ash asked.

"Stupid AI didn't unlock the door to the girls area." Goh huffed.

"I've got to stop agreeing to these kinds of things." Ash admitted.

Outside a temple

"Here we are." Goh said, as Golurk went in for a landing.

"Good, let's go in, get the coin and get out of here, it's freezing." Ash said shivering.

"About that…". Goh trailed off.

"Goh, I swear to Arceus if you're about to tell me it was in your pocket, I will shove my shoe so far!" Ash threatened.

"It's not that, it's that they aren't accepting of women in the temple." Goh said. "And with the monks having a vow of silence, I can't explain it easily to them."

"So, let me get this straight. You pulled me out of bed in the middle of the night, not telling me we were going to the top of a mountain, only to leave me at the top of said mountain, when you knew I couldn't go in there." Ash said, getting increasingly frustrated. "And to top it all off, I have to be back in Vermillion in 4 hours for class."

"I know, I'm sorry. I just thought if I went alone I'd talk myself out of trying." Goh admitted.

"Just go, and hope my toes aren't frozen by the time you get back." Ash said, wrapping his jacket tightly around him.

"I'll try and be quick." Goh said, walking towards the temple.

Time seemed to be at a standstill as Ash waited, hoping Goh was quick.

"Are you Ash?" A calm voice said, startling Ash.

"Who wants to know?" Ash said, his aura flaring.

"I am Monk Dorian, Goh said you might be cold." Monk Dorian said, holding out a blanket.

"I thought all the monks took a vow of silence." Ash said, wrapping the blanket around him.

"Some of us are not bound by the vow outside of the walls. Allowing us to greet travelers and gather supplies." Monk Dorian said.

"Oh, I guess that makes sense." Ash said, his aura dissipating. "Thank you for the blanket."

"Not a problem. I should be heading back to the temple, however, please stay safe." Monk Dorian said, retreating back towards the temple.

As Ash watched the monk return to the temple, he felt a strange presence nearby. Re flaring his aura, Ash looked around for who it was. Between the wind, snow, and night sky, it was difficult to find anything however.

"Hey Ash, I found my stuff." Goh said walking up. "Ash, is everything okay?"

"Huh, yeah it's just fine." Ash said shaking his head. "Just thought I saw something."

"Well come on, I think if we rush, we can get back just in time for you to start school." Goh said sending out Golurk.

As the duo flew away, a small Pokémon leapt out of the snow, staring at Ash leaving in the distance. It had spent years training on this peak, and finally found someone worthy.
