Leo didn't remember much of the rest of that night- he knew Luke and Beckendorf had tag teamed him, dragging him to his cabin and dumping him onto his bunk with threats of what they'd do if he left it before the morning.

Then Leo was pretty sure he'd passed out- and when he woke up the sun was coming in through the windows and lighting the cabin, warm and inviting. If Leo hadn't known that it was winter he'd have thought it was spring from the way birds were singing outside.

He sat up slowly, groaning slightly at how stiff he felt- looking around- the cabin was almost empty- but Beckendorf was sat on his bunk across from Leo, and he shot Leo a grin.

"About time you were waking up kid. How you feeling?"

"Stiff." Leo admitted, "But other than that I'm pretty good. Where's everyone else?"

"At breakfast- I sent them on ahead." Beckendorf explained, "I wanted to talk to you when you woke up." and Leo sat up quickly, frowning.

"Is something wrong?"

"No- no-" Beckendorf held up his hands quickly, a smile playing across his lips, "It's important but it's good important."

"Uh, okay." Leo tilted his head, "What is it then?" as he spoke he swung his legs out of the bed and stood up, stretching as he did.

"You remember I told you about my plans with Silena-"

"Did you ask her?" Leo asked eagerly, his eyes widening, "I didn't think you were-"

"Woah- slow down." Beckendorf laughed, "No I haven't proposed yet. We were talking about our college plans, and she pointed out that when we leave we won't be around as much- though there's no way in Hades we're not still visiting. Which means that we won't be able to keep up with our duties as Head Counsellors."

Leo blinked, "I hadn't even thought of that. It'll be weird not having you around-"

"I know. And- I've already spoken to Jake and he's agreed to be Counsellor during school times while you're at home-"

"That's great Jake's the oldest and he'll be real goo-" Leo paused, blinking slowly, "Wait- wait a second did you just say while I'm at home? Why would that make any difference?" He didn't understand what his brother was trying to get at. Why would him being around matter? Jake was older than him after all, and he'd been at camp longer. Usually that was pretty important when it came to who was chose to be the Counsellors.

And Beckendorf laughed at that, clearly finding something very funny. "Leo, you might be a year younger than Jake but you are one of the smartest most experienced of us. You're brave, you're skilled, you're a damn good leader even if you don't usually step up as the leader."

"I-" Leo felt a sudden rush of realisation, his eyes going wide, "What? You- me?"

"Yes you, you dumbass." Beckenorf grinned, clapping a hand on his shoulder. "Leo you're the best person for the job- obviously Jake will step up while you're in school and things, but- you'll be the Summer Counsellor and the Counsellor during any holidays and weekends that you're here and let's face it we all know that's the harder job because of how many more kids are here during summer than the rest of the year."

And then Leo surged forward, hugging his brother tightly, "You really think I'm up for the job?"

"Leo," Beckendorf hugged him tightly, "I have no doubts. We'll announce it later on tonight okay? I'll officially step down."

"That- I need to tell Luke and Nico-"

"Of course you do." Beckendorf grinned, "Get dressed, we might still be able to get some breakfast. Today is gonna be a busy one."

"Oh you have no idea just how busy. There's a lot to do. I don't think all of our activities are getting done like normal today."

"You're gonna show them the Bunker right? I gotta say I didn't expect that."

"Oh yeah." Leo nodded, "I figure it's time. We'll need it for what's coming.

"What for?" Beckendorf raised an eyebrow, "I thought you wanted to keep it as our secret and now you're rushing to go tell everyone. What changed?"

"This." Leo pulled a piece of paper out of his pocket, handing it to his brother. "I drew it when I was a kid. Back when Hera was still meddling with my life. The wind took it away, and she told me it wasn't time yet. But the times coming. The Giants and Gaea are going to try and tear up our world from its roots. From Greece, if the Seven need to stop them then we're going to need to have transport that doesn't include travelling over land."

Beckendorf unfolded the paper and stared at the drawing, his eyes wide as his gaze snapped back up to focus on Leo. "Is this-"

"A ship. A flying one. I drew that years before I ever even met Festus Beckdorf-"

"You- that is Festus' head though- that's what you meant when you said he still had a role to play." Beckendorf looked stunned, "That- it's going to be a lot of work Leo- it won't be easy."

"Nothing ever is." Leo's little smile was grim, "But it'll be worth it. I couldn't save him but he's still here. And he still has his place in what's to come. And I'll have help I won't be doing it alone."

"Damn right you won't." Beckendorf's voice was firm, "I know you Leo, you get caught up in your work and then you go days without eating or sleeping. You're going to let us help you. You hear me."

"Yes dad." Leo drawled the words, and Beckendorf grabbed Leo's ear and twisted lightly.

"If I was your dad I'd probably ground you, you annoying brat-"

"And yet you chose me to take over from you." Leo couldn't help the smile that spread across his lips.

Beckendorf trusted him. He trusted him to lead their siblings. It wasn't that Leo didn't know that he was trusted by most of his family but this was different.

This was a huge responsibility and Beckendorf wasn't even thinking twice about it. Leo had been his first choice.

"C'mon Flame Boy." Beckendorf gave an amused smile, wrapping his metal arm around Leo's shoulder, "Let's get going. Like I said we can go get some breakfast- you could probably do with some, I doubt you've been eating well-"

"Excuse you, my toolbelt can give some great ingredients and I am a damn good chef-"

"Leo you once nearly burned your home down by trying to make popcorn-"

"Oh I am gonna kill the others for telling you that. I am a good cook, ask Piper and Jason, they'll tell you- Ask Calypso! She loves my cooking-"

"She's your girlfriend isn't she basically obligated to say you're a good cook?"

"Are you kidding me?" Leo snorted, "If my cooking wasn't good she would tell me, she'd probably take great pleasure in the fact."

"Tell me about it." Beckendorf grinned, "C'mon." and together they made their way out of the cabin.

Leo wasn't the only one to sleep in late, Piper also woke up mostly on her own in her cabin, though she was woken up by the feeling of someone flopping down on top of her and a singsong voice, "Wakey wakey trashbaby. Bossbitch wants to talk to us and I'm hungry so I'm not waiting any longer." and Piper let out a groan as she opened her eyes and lifted her head- she was led on her stomach, her face buried in her pillow, and she turned it to see that Drew had dropped back on top of her.

"Drew." Silena's voice was the definition of long suffering, "Get off of her. She only got back from her quest yesterday-"

"I don't care. You said you wanted to speak to us privately before breakfast and I'm hungry. I might like the trashbaby but I am not missing breakfast because she won't get her ass out of bed."

"Rude." Piper huffed the words as she pushed herself up, shoving Drew off of her, "You're such a bitch Drew."

"Of course." Drew winked as she shifted so that she was perched on the edge of the bed, "But you love me anyway."

"Oh I'm starting to regret this." Silena rolled her eyes, "You two are going to make things interesting here."

"Oh? And why would that be?" Drew raised an eyebrow at Silena, "Why did you want to talk to our newest sister and me alone?"

"Charlie and I are going to college."

"Charlie- Leo's brother right?" Piper sat up, stifling a yawn as she did, "That's cool."

"But why does that bother us?" Drew asked, "No offence but-"

"If I'm leaving for college I'm not going to be around so much." Silena said quickly, "I'm stepping down-"

"What?" Drew straightened up, her eyes wide, "Silena-"

"And you two- mom blessed you both with charmspeak- Drew, you're not always the nicest but you do care. And sometimes being ruthless is what's needed.
And Piper, I don't know you that well yet but you've already proven that you're brave, caring, and powerful too."

"I don't understand-"

"It wouldn't be fair to offer either of you the permission over the other- no offence Drew but you're no good at the more caring softer stuff that you need to be able to do-"

"None taken-"

"And Piper you're still new here. You've done one quest, you're not experienced enough. So I've spoken to Chiron. He's agreed that it's a good idea. I want you to both take over for me. Together-"

"What?" Piper felt as if she'd been slapped or something. There was no way Silena was saying what it sounded like she was, was there?

"You want us to be Co-Counsellors. Like Castor and Pollux." Drew stated, her voice stunned, "You-"

"It might be insane but you two do seem to get along surprisingly well-" Silena paused, "In a weird way. It confuses me honestly since you're clearly
ridiculously different but either way, I think you two will make a good team. And anyway, you two are going to need to work together more no matter what
because you-" that was aimed at Drew, "Are going to need to give Piper lessons on her charmspeak-"

"She used it on freaking Gaea." Drew pointed out, "I'm not sure how much more I can teach her-"

"Power doesn't always equal skill, you know that." Silena pointed out, "No offence Piper-"

"None taken. I probably could use some help actually learning how to control it better. I think I only managed to do what I did because I was so desperate."

"It's a lot of raw power." Drew gave Piper a thoughtful look before grinning evilly, "By the time I'm done with you we'll have you able to control anyone-"

"I don't actually like controlling people you know." Piper gave Drew an exasperated look, "It's not my ideal of fun-"

"You're so boring." Drew rolled her eyes, "That's the best part."

"You can bicker over that later." Silena smiled, "Come on. Let's get going to breakfast."

Jason's wake up call was about as pleasant as Pipers, if not worse, because instead of jumping on top of him, Thalia snuck out and got some water from the lake to tossed over him, and the bucket hit his cheek- and he woke up spluttering and gasping at the shock of the cold water, his eyes opening fast as he shot upright with a shriek- and Thalia stumbled back, laughing loudly, a wide grin on her lips. "About time sleepyhead."

"What the fuck Thalia?!"

"You were asleep. I needed to wake you up for breakfast or you won't get anything."

"So you dumped a bucket of water over me?"

"I'm your big sister, tormenting you is in the job description and I have thirteen years to make up for."

"Suddenly I'm regretting meeting you again." Jason deadpanned- which earned him a punch to the shoulder.

"Just for that I'm gonna beat you up-"

"No thanks, I've already been beaten up enough lately thank you."

And Thalia paused at that, her expression softening, "Well that is true." she rocked back on her heels, crossing her arms over her chest. "How are you doing? I know it's been a lot. And- what about your memories."

"They've started coming back." Jason hesitated, pressing his lips together, "Things are going to get really complicated Thalia. Like- more than you can imagine."

"Whatever happens I'll be there little bro." Thalia met Jason's gaze.

And Jason felt a rush of relief- with his memories rushing back he could understand why he felt the way he felt. He'd spent his whole life fighting to be perfect, to be what everyone wanted him to be out of fear of being sent away if he wasn't good enough. Trained to be a perfect soldier, everyone thinking he was special just because of his father.

But- here he knew he had a sister who would never give him away. And his friends- Piper and Leo who had fought giants and gods with him. Who didn't expect him to be the leader just because of who his father was. Who were happy with him just being who he was, with no pressure.

Things were going to be difficult with Camp Jupiter- but Jason knew one thing. He'd do whatever it took to protect his new family and friends- he'd be the bridge Hera wanted him to be.

Not because it was what was expected of him, but because he loved them all.
