@Thor94 yes the mysterious Pokémon is Kubfu, I just didn't want to spoil it before now.

Ash stood alongside Avery, Klara, and Goh as Mustard approached them.

"You four have shown great potential by making it through the first two tasks, but only half of you will make it to the final test. You've shown resourcefulness, compassion, skill, and tenacity. For your third test, you must work with your Pokémon to gather Max Mushrooms for a feast tonight." Mustard said.

"Seems easy enough." Goh commented.

"The first two to bring back three mushrooms will be victorious and have the chance to restore the islands armor." Mustard said.

"Master Mustard, with all due respect, we can't trust outsiders with such an important task, can we?" Klara asked.

"Not to worry Klara, they've earned the right to try for it at the very least." Mustard said. "Now off you go."

As the four trainers ran out of the dojo, Avery pulled Klara aside.

"Last chance, how are we going to do this?" Avery asked.

"You keep Ash from moving, I'll keep Goh from getting to any mushrooms." Klara said holding a needle.

"Dastardly, I love it." Avery said, as he rushed off after Ash.

"Okay Pikachu, let's find these mushrooms quick so we can face Mustard even quicker." Ash said as they rounded a large tree. "Kinda wishing we were with Serena when she'd found them herself."

"Pika." Pikachu said his ears picking up.

"Whats wrong Pikachu? Do you hear something coming?" Ash asked turning around, only to be forcibly lifted into the air.

"Klara said you two were fast, maybe she's just slow." Avery said stepping out.

"How are you doing this? Do you have aura powers too?" Ash asked.

"I knew I recognized your name, you wrote those books on aura. No, I don't have such a barbaric power like aura, I have the sophisticated power of telekinesis." Avery said.

"So you were the one who helped Klara escape last night." Ash said calmly.

"Yes, but I will keep you here until we have stopped either of you from making it to the next round." Avery said.

Lifted high into the air, Ash saw them in the distance, max mushrooms.

"Fun as this has been, I can't hang around." Ash said creating an aura bubble around him. The psychic aura dissipating as he and Pikachu fell back down to the ground. "Now fight me like a trainer!"

"Very well, Alakazam come on out!"

"Pikachu, I choose you!"

"Alakazam use Psychic!"

"Pikachu use Quick Attack!"

Pikachu outsped the blast coming from Alakazam, hitting the psychic type, causing it to stumble backwards.

"Pikachu use Thunderbolt!"

"Alakazam use Shadow Ball!"

The attacks blasted into each other, creating a cloud of smoke.

"Where are you!" Avery yelled through the smoke.

"Right here." Ash taunted as Pikachu ran out of the smoke. "Now use Iron Tail!"

Alakazam fell to the ground with a thud.

"No matter, there are more where that one came from. Slowbro, come on out, and use Shell Side Arm!" Avery commanded.

"Pikachu use Iron Tail!"

Pikachu managed to halt the Slowbro's attack, the two Pokémon at a draw.

"You aren't the only one with more than one Pokémon. Tauros, use Stomp!" Ash called out.

The bull Pokémon struck the strange Slowbro, pushing it down.

"Now use Horn Attack!"

"Slowbro use Focus Blast!"

The Slowbro was launched into the air as its attack landed off in the distance.

"Tauros finish them with Iron Head!"

As Slowbro came in for a landing, it landed hard on Tauros's head, both Pokémon knocked out from the impact.

"I'll leave you be for now, only so the rest of my team is ready to defeat the other champion." Avery gloated. "Tata for now."

"Yeah, good luck with that." Ash said, heading off to where he had seen the mushrooms.

Elsewhere

"There you are." Goh said, walking up to a patch of mushrooms. "Now let's get you picked before anyone else shows up and,"

"Look out!" Registeel's voice was heard as he popped out of the pokeball. A small metal object bouncing off of him landing on the ground.

"No fair! No one told me you had a Registeel!" Klara whined. "You weren't supposed to be the hard one!"

"What are you doing!" Goh screamed. Ash might have said to do nothing, but no one was around right now.

"I'm trying to win, now if you'll just stand still, I'll put you to sleep long enough for me to win." Klara said, holding another dart.

"Not happening!" Registeel shouted, leaping onto Goh.

Goh closed his eyes in preparation for what was about to hit him, but nothing, only a sight ting.

"I will protect you like I did my sire many years ago." Registeel said, having formed an armor around Goh.

"Now we're talking." Goh said. "Umm Registeel?"

"Yes." Registeel responded.

"I can't move." Goh said plainly.

"That is correct." Registeel stated.

"I can't win if I can't move." Goh reminded.

"Ahh, do you wish me to stop protecting you?" Registeel asked.

"For now, yes, it's time to battle." Goh said as Registeel leapt back off of him.

"Weezing come on out and use Heat Wave!"

"Registeel use Flash Cannon!"

The attacks collided, both Pokemon recoiling from the resulting shockwave.

"Weezing use Heat Wave!"

"Registeel use Lock-On!"

Registeel endured the hit, as it took aim at the Weezing.

"Let's see what four years of training with Ash and Seb has done. Registeel use Zap Cannon!"

A blast of electricity was shot out at the Weezing frying it where it floated, defeating it instantly.

Elsewhere

"I feel something weird, like someone just did my job now." Ash said, shuddering.

Back with Goh

"Slowbro come on out and use Focus Blast!"

Registeel took the brunt of the attack, falling slightly from the increased damage.

"Registeel, come back! Come on out Foongus!"

"You plan on beating me with that little thing?" Klara laughed. "Slowbro use Psychic!"

"Foongus use Sleep Powder!"

Slowbro fell asleep, it's attack stopping midway.

"Now use Giga Drain!"

Slowbro's energy was drained while it was unable to defend, little by little the Pokémon was defeated.

"I'm taking the mushrooms now, and unless you wish to keep being beaten, I'd recommend you stay out of my way." Goh said.

Later back at the dojo

"Congratulations to our newest students, Goh and Ash for completing the first three tasks. The fourth task will be a full battle, I'd recommend you prepare for later tonight." Mustard said.

"And I have something for your teams." Serena said, bringing out cauldrons. "Something to give them a boost in power."

As soon as the lid from the one given to Ash was lifted, Melmetal popped out of its Pokeball.

"Melmetal?" Ash asked in surprise as it lifted the entire cauldron. "Wait don't it's not metal!"

Melmetal drank the entire soup, setting the pot back down.

"Well if yours is only going to one Pokémon, Inteleon come on out! Soups on!" Goh exclaimed.
