Kageyama Shigeo was… perplexed.

This was the first time in years since he felt so 'free' and capable of expressing himself and his powers with ease and without worrying about repercussions of his actions. The mere concept felt absurd, but perhaps not as nonsensical as the fact he ended up in a world where humans shared the home planet with Primes, or anthropomorphic 'animals' from outer space.

Then again, he wasn't exactly 'normal' and some of his friends were even odder. Sure, this beat many things by a good margin, but nothing had really prepared him for… her.

Naerie was a mystery. And yet strangely familiar.

Her behavior felt similar to his, yet advanced- tempered by time and experience. But also sadder than his as he could see how his future will be the more he will test the way of bottling it all within himself. It reminded him of what his Master told him many times now. Words that at times confused him, but not made an incredible amount of sense, once more proving Reigen-sensei's own wisdom.

"This isn't just the way, Mob-kun. People can't live with that much pain within themselves, not without suffering the most. And those people are generally the goodest of this world."

"Uh… Master? 'Goodest' isn't a-"

"Did you understand it's meaning?"

"Yes but-"

"Then it's still valid."

Shigeo couldn't fault him for that logic. After all, it made sense despite not being in the dictionary and being a wrong version of a correct word. Still, that wasn't what he was meant to stop by and analyze. The current question in his mind firmly stood by the mostly emotionless expression on the woman's face, her posture, and her mind.

It felt a calm and never-ending storm of power that had yet to be tapped into. It felt so familiar, but still oh so mysterious. This was bigger- much bigger than anything he had faced before. And Naerie seemed to know that he was aware of it from her nonchalant admission. Both could peer in each other's mind, so it didn't come as a surprise to him as she said that.

What really left him uneasy was the fact that he knew that eventually that was going to happen if she didn't find a moment to let out all that pent-up frustration. The destruction, the pain, the regret, the tears, the… the blood. He closed his eyes for a moment before he opened them once again with a resolute stare. He had to do this, even though this was the first time he had to fit the other pair of shoes for once.

"You want to…" The redhead was confused at the offer, some interest growing within her mind and gaze. "Why? Do you want to repay my generosity?"

The… 'Bear Prime' (He wasn't sure if this was the correct term or not) had got him right at the beginning, but instead of feeling deterred, Mob nodded.

"Yes. Also, I know how painful it can be to hold so much back. Please, Naerie-san, I just want to help."

"I'm not weak compared to you, Shigeo. I doubt we are close to being actually even too."

He frowned. "I understand and… and I'm not trying to be pushy about it. I know how unpleasant it can be as a request… but I don't want to hurt, I want to help. Because I know holding it all up, no matter how 'easy' it feels, it's actually not."

His voice grew more confident and he spoke one last time as he could tell that the young woman was considering it.

It was instantaneous, and he almost felt his throat crushed at the pure pressure surrounding him- no, the world around them. The world went blank, and then black. Then white again and Mob felt breathless as he could feel his senses overwhelmed by the sheer intensity of that psychic power. Naerie had been right, it was denser than his but… but he couldn't ignore this.

Her power was… immense, incredibly so. It was much higher than Mogami, much stronger than Toichiro- but devoid of any maliciousness. No emotions, only pure psychic powers. It was beyond him… so he had to hold nothing back .

The heat increased, he felt his heartbeat- and hers too. Both noises increased and became incredibly loud for both. Soon, their energies clashed to try and obtain more space from each other's own sphere of control.

He was almost there, he could tell he was getting close to matching her power. Yet she was pushing more and more out, the room felt smaller than before as his senses were just getting enhanced to a baffling degree.

It was so surreal but… no, he couldn't give up. Not now.

Her powers were getting too intense, he had to try and get a rather dangerous aftermath to happen. Similar to what happened with Toichiro but… quicker, faster, less unstable.

It was his strongest, and her current level- just enough to suddenly nullify both sources of energy at once and voiding their current powers for the time being. The situation returned back to normal, with Naerie stared around in pure emotional shock. Her face was expressive, perplexed, awed, worried and… happy?

"W-What happened? Shigeo, what did you-!" The redhead couldn't finish that sentence as she swiftly rushed up to the boy as he suddenly felt his body giving up. He was just tired, but he couldn't keep standing up for long as he almost fell down to the ground. Instead, he found himself picked up by the worried Bear Prime and taken to a place with a bed. Her room, she would later admit, and Naerie would remain by his side until he was better.

He did something good with his powers, and he felt happy about it. But also, he might have incurred into something that his Master had told him much about. With Naerie keeping around him this close, smiling, hugging him and then asking him constantly how he was feeling, he couldn't help but have gained an admirer somehow. Maybe. Surely an older woman wouldn't want to be around a kid like him.

Right?
