"So, the good news is Ash can still use Aura Soul." Goh said.

"The bad news is my grandma hasn't talked to us in three days." Chloe said to three emotionless people.

"Fine, the bad news for me is that my grandma hasn't talked to me in three days." Chloe redacted.

"Also that I can't use the aura soul for long before passing out. How'd I even get back?" Ash asked.

"Tobias carried you." Serena said with a hint of jealousy.

"Easy there, don't need you going after someone who helped me." Ash said jokingly.

"You know the four of you can't stay up here forever, right." Parker said.

"What are you doing up here, I thought you were out with dad, finding a Pokémon." Chloe said somewhat annoyed.

"I was, Pokemon Center didn't have any, and Dad wants to talk with Ash." Parker said.

"Great, I can be in her range." Ash said.

Down in the main lab

"You wanted to talk to me Professor?" Ash asked walking in. "If this is about the other day."

"It's not. I don't blame you for what you did, and commend you for not taking it out directly at her." Professor Cerise said. "I know she can be difficult."

"Difficult is one way to put it." Ash said. "So if it's not that, then what is it?"

"It's Parker, he still wants a Pokémon, but not one of the Kanto starters, and the Pokémon Center gave us no leads." Professor Cerise said with a sigh.

'Bzzz bzzz'

"Go ahead Ash, I just need help brainstorming, I still don't like the idea of him catching a wild Pokémon." Professor Cerise said.

Ash looked at his phone to see a message from Lillie. 'Look who just came by.' The message said, attached was a photo of Lillie with Tapu Koko at the Aether Paradise.

"Hey Professor, what if we looked outside of Kanto for his first Pokémon." Ash offered.

"How far outside are you thinking?" Professor Cerise asked.

Two days later, Professor Cerise dropped Ash, Parker, and his mother-in-law off at the airport.

"Take care of him Ash." Professor Cerise said.

"Don't worry, the Aether Paradise is picking us up from the airport." Ash reassured. Thankfully Chloe and Parker's grandmother was on a different flight.

"Are you sure we'll find a Pokémon in need of a trainer here?" Parker asked.

"I'm sure of it, Lillie specializes in working with abused and abandoned Pokémon." Ash said. "Plenty of them need a caring trainer to help restore their faith."

"Do you think there'll be a Zapdos!" Parker said excitedly.

"I don't think anyone can hurt a Zapdos enough for Lillie to bring it to the Aether Foundation." Ash said with a laugh.

Later on in Alola

"Alola Ash, it's great to see you." Lillie said running up to him.

"Alola Lillie, I didn't expect to see you until we reached the island." Ash said.

"And you must be Parker, right?" Lillie asked.

"Yeah, er Alola Lillie." Parker said.

"You're already talking like a native." Ash joked.

At the Aether Foundation

"So Ash filled me in with some of the details, and I believe we have a few Pokémon that are ready to be reintroduced to new humans." Lillie said. "Our first one is just ahead."

"I'm getting a Lurantis!" Parker said in shock.

"The Lurantis is here as a part of the lab, like many Pokémon. But there is a Formantis here who should be ready to try." Lillie said.

"Oh, I thought I could get the evolution out of the way, like Ash and Pikachu." Parker said.

"Wasn't exactly a choice on our part." Ash admitted. "Choosing a Pokémon at the same strength as you is important, a powerful Pokémon might not listen."

"Though if you aren't sure about evolutions, we have some options." Lillie said, readjusting herself. "I found these Spinda a few months back, and we've been working at letting them be their own Pokémon. The last ones just split off yesterday."

"I'm not sure I want a Pokémon that… needy." Parker said. "At least not yet."

"That's okay." Lillie said trying to keep a positive attitude, she really needed to get these Pokémon back out and hopefully more trainers won't be this troublesome. "Over here we have some Luvdisc who…"

"Pass. It's not that I'm not grateful, but Luvdisc is so limited in its uses." Parker said.

"Parker!" Ash snapped.

"What, I want my first Pokémon to be perfect!" Parker argued. "Is that so much to ask!"

"When I took you to Alola on my own wallet, yes! We are guests here, and Lillie has been trying her best to help but you've shot down each Pokemon before even giving them a chance!" Ash scolded.

"You're just like my dad at the Pokémon center!" Parker shouted running off.

"Parker!" Ash called after.

"Stay here, I'll talk to him." Lillie said.

A while later, Lillie had finally found Parker, hiding at the docks.

"Parker?" Lillie said calmly.

"Go away! You're just going to yell at me for being picky!" Parker said.

"I'm not going away, but I am going to tell you a story." Lillie said, sitting down.

"I'm not a little kid, I don't need a story to make me feel better." Parker said.

"It's not that kind of story. It's the story of my first Pokémon. When I first met Ash, I was terrified of Pokemon, to the point that one touching me made me freeze up." Lillie said. "Then Snowy's egg hatched, and she was drawn to me. I didn't ask for her, and she definitely wasn't overly powerful, but she's what I needed, and deep down I know she needed me."

"So what are you saying?" Parker asked, finally getting out of his hiding spot.

"Go back to the garden, and you lead. If you find one you're drawn too, we'll see what happens." Lillie said.

Back at the garden

"Welcome back. Sorry I snapped at you." Ash said.

"It's fine, you were just trying to help." Parker said.

"We're going to let Parker look around, and see who he finds for himself." Lillie said to Ash.

Parker walked through the different habitats, there were plenty of Pokémon here, but none seemed to be the right one.

"Ty!" A Pokémon huffed.

Parker turned around to see a Tyrouge, having ran into the barrier. "Were you trying to get to me?" Parker asked.

"Rouge!" The Tyrouge responded.

"You're like me, a little accident prone." Parker said taking off his jacket, showing his wrapped up arm. "Miss Lillie, this is the one I want."

"Parker, Tyrouge hasn't spent much time here, and we're not sure if it can still evolve. He was pretty beat up when he first came in." Lillie said pulling up his records.

"That's fine." Parker said. "He's perfect just how he is anyways."

"Sounds like someone else I know." Lillie smiled, looking at Ash.

A bit later

"Alright Parker, here is Tyrouge's Pokeball, but let him come to you." Lillie said, handing Parker a white Pokeball with a gold band, and the Aether symbol around the button.

"Pikachu and I are right here just in case." Ash said reassuringly.

"Hey Tyrouge. Remember me?" Parker asked, cautiously approaching the Pokémon.

Without the barrier between them, Tyrouge took a cautious step back.

"It's okay, I'm not going to hurt you." Parker said, thinking. "Hey, are you hungry? It's not Pokémon food, but it's still good." Parker said pulling out a chocolate bar and breaking off a piece, holding it out to Tyrouge.

"What is he doing? That isn't part of Tyrouge's diet!" Lillie huffed.

"Calm down, look." Ash said, pointing at the approaching Tyrouge.

"It's good, see." Parker said eating a piece.

Tyrouge snatched a piece before quickly retreating back with it, nibbling it slightly. A few minutes had passed before Tyrouge re approached, holding out his hand.

"Here you go." Parker said breaking off another piece.

Tyrouge didn't back off this time, but kept his eyes on Parker as he ate the chocolate.

"If you want, you can come with me, and try all sorts of tasty food." Parker said, holding out the Pokeball. "What do you say?"

"Ty!" Tyrouge said jumping in Parker's arms.

"And that's how you get your first Pokémon." Ash said.
