Ash has challenged fellow champion Benga to a World Coronation Series match, but how will things turn out?
"Hey! Where are you going!" Benga yelled at Ash.
"Relax. I'm going to grab a water bottle, and some potions from my bag." Ash said, picking up his shoes. "Just because I'm not using these two for the match, doesn't mean they should have to wait to be healed." Ash said spraying a Hyper Potion on both Pikachu and Hawlucha. He didn't want to challenge a champion without Pikachu, but this Benga kid clearly wasn't patient, so waiting for tomorrow, or even just a bit later was a big no go. "You know Marshall, I have no idea how you all do it, every time I try to battle barefoot, I can't stand it." Ash said.
"We've hardened our entire bodies to withstand pain similar to what our Pokémon can." Marshall said calmly. "I must admit it is not for everyone though."
"No argument here." Ash said, before putting his boots back on. "Okay Benga, I'm ready."
"Oh, you meant for the battle." Benga said, saddened. "Okay let's do this."
'The super rank match between Ash and Benga will now begin. This will be a three on three match. Trainers ready your Pokémon.' The Rotojudge announced.
"Dragonite I choose you!" Benga called out.
"Sceptile, let's go!" Ash said.
"Dragonite use Fire Blast!"
"Sceptile use Dual Chop!"
Sceptile ducked under the fire blast, barely getting hit as he went for a direct attack.
"Dragonite use Focus Blast!"
"Sceptile use Slam!"
Sceptile charged again at Dragonite, landing a hit, before being launched back moments later.
"Maybe a boost is what we need." Ash said. "Sceptile! It's time to mega evolve! Use Leaf Blade!"
"Use Fire Blast!"
Mega Sceptile easily jumped out of the way this time, landing a hit on Dragonite, sending the dragon flying backwards.
"Now use Dual Chop!"
"Use Outrage!"
Sceptile and Dragonite traded blow for blow, until Sceptile took one too many. Sending the grass type flying back into a wall, the mega energy depleted.
"He took out Sceptile." Serena said in shock.
"Who does Ash have that can fight that hard?" Chloe asked.
"Dragonite, Kommo-o, and Charizard are here. So that removes the obvious choices." Goh said.
"Urshifu! I choose you!"
"Dragonite use Dragon Dance!"
"Urshifu use Focus Punch!"
Dragonite flew around, as Urshifu tightened its focus, striking their opponent in the stomachs, sending it backwards.
"Dragonite use Focus Blast!"
"Urshifu use Thunder Punch!"
Urshifu swept his feet along the ground, dodging the focus blast with ease, striking Dragonite again. The large Pokémon falling to the ground this time.
"Dragonite return!" Benga said.
"If he led with a Dragonite, who's his second?" Iris wondered out loud.
"Coming from the girl who led with a Haxorus followed by an Excadrill, those are big words." Cilan pointed out.
"Volcarona! Come on out!" Benga said. "Use Psychic!"
"Urshifu use Surging Strikes!"
Urshifu leapt at Volcarona, landing two hits before being tossed back by a mysterious force.
"Volcarona keep it up with another Psychic!"
"Urshifu use Aerial Ace!"
Staying low to the ground, Urshifu built up speed, out maneuvering the psychic attack, and striking Volcarona.
"Volcarona use Quiver Dance!"
"Urshifu use Thunder Punch!"
As Urshifu's fist was about to connect, Volcarona sped out of the way, and behind the legendary.
"Use Psychic one more time."
"Use Surging Strikes!"
Urshifu landed a few hits before the two Pokémon were launched in opposite directions.
"Urshifu use Aerial Ace!"
"Volcarona use Bug Buzz!"
Urshifu momentarily disappeared, before reappearing behind Volcarona, as the large bug fell to the ground defeated.
Back in Vermillion
"Urshifu might win it all!" Goh cheered.
"Don't be so certain, he may be a legendary Pokémon, but even they have limits, and Urshifu was fairly evenly matched against Volcarona." Professor Cerise said calmly.
"Dad! How long have you been watching?" Chloe asked.
"Just enough to know Ash's opponent has one Pokémon left. How's Ash doing?" Professor Cerise inquired.
"Sceptile's down, and Pikachu and Hawlucha are in no condition to battle right now." Serena said worriedly.
"He still has Krookodile, he'll be fine." Chloe reassured.
Back with Ash in Unova
"Garchomp I choose you!" Benga called out. "Use Stone Edge!"
"Urshifu use Surging Strikes!"
Urshifu did his best to avoid the rocks, but a few had caught him off guard, the legendary stumbling as a result.
"Don't let up! Use Earthquake!"
"Urshifu use Aerial Ace!"
The torn up boulders from the two fights began launching into the air from the attack, creating an entirely new game for Urshifu as he struggled to continue dodging the attacks. He finally made it across the field, striking Garchomp before going down himself.
"Great work Urshifu. Couldn't have done this without you." Ash said. "Now, I believe I promised you a champion battle." Ash said spinning another Pokeball. "Scraggy! I choose you!"
Scraggy popped out of his Pokeball to see the ravaged battlefield, and a Garchomp staring him down.
"Scraggy use Iron Head!"
"Garchomp use Outrage!"
Scraggy dodged tooth and claw, as he struck Garchomp from below, making the larger Pokémon only flinch for a moment.
"Garchomp use Fire Blast!"
"Scraggy use High Jump Kick!"
Scraggy leapt out of the way, and began careening down towards Garchomp.
"Go Scraggy!" Cilan cheered.
"Come on! Show them how tough you are!" Iris added on.
Scraggy, missed Garchomp by almost nothing, getting stuck in the ground.
"Garchomp use Outrage!"
"Scraggy!" Ash called out in fear. He couldn't even see what happened to his Pokémon, only awaiting the buzzer.
Cries never echoed, a buzzer never rang, and Garchomp seemed to be struggling.
"Scraft!"
Garchomp was suddenly launched from his spot landing on his back.
Where Scraggy had been was now a Scrafty with its hood up.
'Scrafty has been registered to your Pokédex.' Ash's phone chimed.
"Now we're talking!" Ash said doing a jumping spin. "Scrafty use Focus Blast!"
The attack charged in record time, launching itself at Garchomp who was still recovering.
"Garchomp use Stone Edge!"
"Scrafty use Iron Head!"
Scrafty ducked his head forward, and began to charge, going through the stones as if they were paper.
"Garchomp use Outrage!"
"Scrafty use Focus Blast!"
Scrafty kicked back, propelling himself backwards as he launch a Focus Blast at the rampaging Garchomp.
'Garchomp is unable to battle. The winner is Ash.' The Rotojudge declared.
A sigh of relief fell over all those watching the match.
"Good match Benga." Ash said extending his hand.
"You sure I can't convince you to join me for dinner?" Benga tried one last time.
"Spend it like your grandfather does." Ash said in a serious tone. "But I'm keeping my eye on you, you show real promise as a champion."
