Killian and Rosie need an emergency stop. Rumple gives his grandson a gift and Rumple plans for a vacation.
The Jolly Roger – Somewhere between Agrabah and Misthaven
It was a balmy day on the ocean, and the Jolly Roger was making good speed. But at the wheel, the ship's Captain's mind was elsewhere. Rosie's pregnancy had taken a turn for the worst and she knew something was wrong.
They were at least another two full days sailing to Agrabah, but yesterday she felt something...different...inside. There'd been no movement in her belly for two days now, and her instinct told her she needed help, fast. The choppy waters didn't help either, and her anxiety grew.
What the hell do I do out here in the middle of a bloody ocean?
"Killian, something's not right with the baby, I'm sure of it! I need to speak to dad as soon as possible. I'm going down to try and reach him. Can you make sure I'm not disturbed?"
Killian had watched her do this a few times over the last few months. Every couple of weeks, he'd watched her as she sat silent, bolt upright, eyes closed, opening her mind to reach out to her father or siblings. She would sometimes go silent for at least an hour before she came out of it, to tell him news of her family. One of Rosie's recent telepathic updates had been a shock, when one of the things she told him that Emma was now pregnant. However a later update revealing that Regina was pregnant too, was an even bigger one.
Surprised though he was, that news helped him move on. Emma was now firmly in his past. However, word that Dorothy had just given birth lightened his mood enormously. I have a son! Nathaniel Killian Lucas. He now felt proud to have helped, and surprisingly Rosie hadn't been in the least disturbed by the news, knowing their own relationship was secure. While there was no way he'd interfere in the raising of the child, he nonetheless wanted to see the baby, hopefully before he'd grown too much?
Finally, she out of her trance, to find Killian staring back at her, looking worried.
"I was right. We need to get to dad! He said he's concerned for the baby, and it sounds to him like I may need specialist medical attention. He also said he can get to me via a portal, but I do need to get on to dry land first, as he can't do it over water. Killian, I have to admit, I'm scared!"
He gathered her in his arms. "Okay love. But you know yourself that we've got another two days sailing to Agrabah? Heading back to Misthaven would take a week. But I'll pull out all the stops to get there as quick as I can."
Agrabah
The moment the ship berthed in the Imperial Harbour, Rosie communicated telepathically with her father.
Within two hours, the legendary wizard appeared outside the royal palace, stepping through the huge gates, Annabelle accompanying him, carrying plenty of medical supplies on some sort of trolley.
As Rosie fell crying into her father's arms, Killian explained their predicament to their hosts, Queen Jasmine and Prince Aladdin. The young queen and her true love, the former genie and now husband, had restored the city to its good fortune over the last few years. They went on to produce a young son and daughter, although their happiness was recently dented by the death of her father, the Sultan. Jasmine had offered her husband the sultanate, but the former thief felt it was not right to accept such a role, so she instead granted him the title of Crown Prince. Theirs was a truly happy marriage.
"Killian, please take Rosie up to the royal suite we set aside? You'll have more privacy there. Merlin, is there anything you need? We do have physicians and nurses available."
"Thank you, Your Majesty. A midwife or nurse on hand would be helpful, in case she needs a more…intrusive examination? As her father, I'd really rather not do that myself, for obvious reasons."
"Of course. I'll send for the Royal Physician, and you'll have whatever you need." Jazmine smiled up at the former pirate. "And as for you, Killian Jones, Agrabah still owes you a great debt of gratitude for helping us overthrow Jafar. We're at your service!"
~oOo~
They settled Rosie onto a bed, while her father checked her abdomen, using his magic to scan her.
"Well my love, you were right to let me know when you did. I thought at first it may have been ectopic, but it now seems not to be the case. However, the baby's definitely weak, and distressed, so I'll see if I can't give it a little helping hand?"
"Anything, dad! Please don't let me lose it?"
"I'll do all I can, my darling." Merlin slowly closed his eyes, carefully placing his open palms either side of her abdomen, and Rosie immediately felt warmth invading her entire body. She lay perfectly still, praying they hadn't left it too late, while Killian and Annabelle stood silently close by, praying for success.
After a few tense minutes, he withdrew them to scan her once again. "There now. The heartbeat seems a little stronger. I sensed the beginnings of magic in there too, so I think this little fighter's going to surprise us all! Now, for safety's sake, I suggest you rest here a few days. But if the problems continue, I'd like to transport you through the portal to Storybrooke hospital, or even Sherwood clinic? We have more specialist facilities there."
"I'll stay with her, dad," Annabelle insisted. "We need a sister catch up anyway. That is, if Killian doesn't mind?"
"Of course not, love. I know you all communicate regularly with your minds, which even now I find a bit weird, but Rosie's still missed you terribly. "
~oOo~
Over dinner that evening with the royal couple, the group caught up with all the gossip from Storybrooke and Sherwood. Anna and Merlin told them about the former King George trying to take over Sherwood, and the Merry Men's subsequent storming of the clinic. Killian had been offshore at the time and although he knew the basics, gasped in disbelief when he heard just how Emma and Regina had almost been killed. They may no longer be together, but it chilled him to think his former love had been in mortal danger, yet again!
But he was pleased to hear the gory details of how Robin had swiftly despatched the tyrant. That bastard had it coming to him! The Sorcerer also told them about his own trip with Robin and Gold, to rescue his son and again, the ending of the Black Fairy by the same former outlaw.
"He's definitely getting better with that sword! I always thought bows and arrows were his thing."
Anna also told them all about Mulan giving birth to a daughter, Li, followed, a month later, by Dorothy Lucas with her own son.
"Is the boy healthy?" Killian wasn't sure whether Annabelle knew of his involvement.
But Merlin, who knew all of it, answered. "He's an extremely handsome little fellow, Killian. Rather 'dashing' you might say?"
Rosie squeezed his hand. "Anna, Killian's their sperm donor. He helped them, just before I came to Storybrooke. So Nathaniel's his biological son. We should go back and see them, Killian? They're a lovely couple, after all."
Anna then dropped the bombshell.
"I'm sure they'd love that. Oh, and you remember Emma and Regina Swan-Mills, the other gay couple? Well, as I told you before Rosie, they were pregnant. And now, they've asked Robin to join their marriage."
"HOOD?"
Jasmine and Aladdin gasped in surprise, and Killian almost choked on his rum, splurting it out before being seized by a coughing fit! Once he recovered, he croaked. "They're marrying Locksley? What, both of them? You're sure?"
Anna had forgotten about Killian and Emma's history. "Yes, well, they have just given birth to his two daughters. Within a day of each other, too."
"You've got to be kidding me?"
Killian wasn't sure how to feel, particularly about Robin. Upset? Betrayed? How could his old mate do this to him? Then as he calmed down, he realised he was just being stupid. She'd moved on. Hadn't he? That's when he saw the look on Rosie's face. Clearly hurt by his reaction, he grabbed her hand. "I'm love, I didn't mean - it just came as a surprise, you know? A bit of a shock. I was in the Underworld for three weeks, only to come back and find my then girlfriend was over me, and had married another woman, you know? Next thing I hear, the pair of them are both pregnant by my best mate. It just took me by surprise."
"I understand. I came out of a relationship just before I met you too, remember? You must still must have some feelings for Emma, despite how it ended."
"No, love, no! Not those kinds of feelings! I accepted it was all over between Emma and I before I even met you. What we have is permanent. Lasting. I'm in love with you Rosie Sage, regardless of the fact you're carrying our child. This little one just makes it so much more…real?"
Merlin smiled at them, his vast accumulated wisdom of over two thousand years, and many children, recognising a good match when he saw it.
"That's good to know, Captain. I do believe Rosie's in good hands. I trust one day soon, you'll be putting your relationship on a more formal footing?" He arched a brow. "If you understand me?"
"Dad, that's unfair! You can't ask Killian something like that. Whatever happens, that's between him and me!"
Before Merlin could even answer, Killian squeezed her hand. "It's okay love, your father's right and just thinking of your welfare. But I'm also a traditionalist, and wanted to do this right. So perhaps now's the time, even if he and I aren't alone?" He turned to Merlin. "Professor, you already know I'm very much in love with your daughter. I would like to ask for her hand in marriage, but would much prefer to do so having already received your blessing? So Merlin, even though you're probably well aware of all my former sins, would you willingly give it?"
As the others held their breath, the Sorcerer stared right back into the eyes of the former villain, studying him, like a specimen in a jar.
One month later – Gold's antiques shop
"Grandpa, it's wonderful and really kind of you. But I'm not sure I can take this. It's too much."
"Nonsense, Henry. You're twenty-one now, and you need your independence. The flat belonged to your father anyway. And as for the money, well it's hardly important to me, is it? Take it, invest it and live your life to the full, with my blessing. You may use it in whatever way you wish, though I hope you use part of it to travel and see the world."
Henry stared at the bank statement in disbelief. It appeared that his grandfather had already deposited one and a half million dollars into an account registered with a New York bank, in Henry's name, handing him the bank card, passwords and access details. His mothers had been more than generous with funds to finance his education. But this was significantly more.
"I know you'll think I'm being weird but, I'll only accept this on one condition."
"Condition, Henry? For something I've already given you with no strings attached? If I didn't know you better, I'd guess you were trying to make a deal."
"I am, in a way." He smiled down at his grandfather, the Dark One. The man feared by so many. "Grandpa, once I graduate next year, I want to travel. I want to spend at least a year seeing places that I've only read about. I want to do Europe, Asia, South America. I want to see things for myself, before I start to write about them."
"I envy you your freedom to do so, but what's that got to do with any deal?"
"I haven't told either of my mums yet, but because I'm majoring in English and History, subject to my final results I'm being considered for a Rhodes Scholarship, after I graduate. Do you know what that is?"
"Of course. Rhodes scholarships are given by Oxford University, for international students over here to study there. It's a very prestigious and significant award, my boy. I'm sure you'll excel, but I wish you luck."
"But I want you there. Or at least, if I get the place, and before I go, I want to spend some proper time with you, preferably travelling around.I want to explore new places, and I want to do it with the only link I have to dad. Gramps, you're more knowledgeable about the world than anyone I've ever met. Would you come to Europe with me to visit and check it over first? Please?"
Rumple was stunned. Nobody, apart from Belle in his past, had ever wanted him to spend real time with them. The fatherly love he felt for Bae's boy almost moved him to tears. Though he refused to show it.
"Henry, much as I'd love to, I've Gideon to consider now." However, he could never refuse this time with his only grandson. Bae's son. Possibly the last chance he would ever have?
"Bring him along! He'd love it. Belle could come too. That is, if you want her along? She always told me she wanted to see Italy. Come on, say you'll come? A deal's a deal, right? And you always honour your deals."
That made him chuckle. "I do indeed. Very well, I will. I'd be delighted, but for how long I'm not sure. What do you have in mind?"
"We start off in England first, so I get to see London and Oxford and stuff. Take in all the culture if I'm going to live there later? Scotland next, as your grandparents came from there. Then Scandinavia, France, maybe Switzerland? I want to take you on a road show. It'll be brilliant!"
Granny's
The Swan-Mills family sat around the largest table in the diner, as Henry told them his plans. Seeing his mothers' initial reactions, Snow and David had quickly offered to take the now three-month-old girls off, so they could have their breakfast in peace. So the pair were now pushing Hope and Faith around the park, and on to to a picnic.
"You're doing WHAT?" Emma couldn't believe her ears.
"Henry, no! What on earth were you thinking? You asked Gold?" Regina added, for good measure.
Henry listened to them sound off, as he knew they would, when he told them about the trip. He knew the last month had been stressful, but seriously? Did they really have to revert back to treating him like a kid? "Mums, please don't be like this. I want to travel, and I'm going, whether you approve or not."
"Don't take that tone, young man! You may be in Harvard, but you're still- "
"Still a twenty-one-year-old, legally independent adult, unless you'd forgotten? I'm responsible for me. So, I am going to travel in Europe, and I am taking grandpa. Mums, as much as I love you, this is not open for discussion."
He may technically be right, but Emma was still irritated. "Henry, should I remind you just who pays for your very expensive education? That car? Your allowance?" She glared as Regina gave him much the same look.
"Yeah, about that. I'm really grateful for everything you've done so far, but now I'm of age, you can cancel all the payments from now on. I've been given quite a large endowment. By grandpa Gold. So, I was going to use a little bit of it to treat him. I was planning to travel across Europe anyway, but I decided I wanted to take him along with me the first time."
"You're saying you just don't need us anymore, now you no longer have need of my, sorry our, money?"
Robin winced at Regina's appalling choice of words, as he sat quietly watching, knowing it was just the wrong thing to say right now. "No Regina, Henry didn't mean anything like that, and you know it!" He tried to calm her, before Emma joined in.
"But maybe he did mean that?"
Henry stood immediately, red faced, clearly annoyed.
"I can't believe you said that? You two are just fucking unbelievable! I'm doing you a favour by showing you I don't need you to support me with money anymore. And yet you just slam it back in my face? I didn't do this to spite you, I did it cos I want to treat my grandpa, the only living link I have to dad!" His eyes turned to his younger mother. "Remember him, Em-ma? My dad? Neal? The guy who died saving everyone else around here?"
As Emma saw anger growing in his eyes, she thought back. Oh shit, here we go again. The anniversary was yesterday - just like last year, when Killian came back. Three years in a row?
"Henry, stop yelling at me! I'm sorry, but you still-"
But it didn't matter what she said - he was already on a roll. The rest of the table shocked, Honour almost frightened by her brother's sudden anger.
"But that doesn't count, does it? Because dad was the wrong side of the family! Tell me, when was the last time you even went to his grave? The guy who had to give you up the first time to get you with your family? When was the last time you even remembered the day he died? I'll tell you – four years ago! God help us if we'd forgotten one of the bloody royal family! You'd expect paid mourners in the streets, wouldn't you? But for dad, nothing! He's just the token guy who got you pregnant the first time!"
Regina sat, surprised by the sudden outburst, with Emma about to yell back, but she knew he was beyond reason, as he carried on: "Well I do remember and I miss him!"
Emma tried to put a hand on his shoulder to calm him, but he just swatted it away.
"Don't! You know what? To hell with you. I'm going on this trip, and I'm taking grandpa whether you like it or not, and that's the end of it! And if I do get accepted into Oxford, I'm doing my postgrad there! Then I'm going to travel. Far away from here!" He turned away, quickly grabbing his keys from the table before striding over to the front door of the diner, opening it and slamming it hard behind him, cracking one of the panes.
The rest of the diners were astonished by the loud outburst, having never heard Storybrooke's favourite son completely lose his temper before, while the rest of the family remained sitting in embarrassed silence, broken by Honour's quiet sobbing.
"Why's Henny angry, papa?"
Robin lifted her onto his lap. "He's upset, my love, because his own papa died far too early, and he thinks everyone's forgotten all about him, and what a great man he was. And Henry's also grown up now, and needs people to know that he can't be told what to do any more." Emma glared back, knowing that last comment was aimed at them. "He wants, and needs to make his own mark in the world. Your mothers just love him, and want to care for him. Don't worry, he won't be angry for long."
"I don't like seeing him angry! Can you take me to his papa's grave? I want to see it."
"Of course, sweetheart. I could do with a walk myself. So perhaps after you and Roland finish your breakfasts?" It was then he noticed Roland had already left the table and was now standing close to another group of diners at a far table, especially a young girl who looked to be around his own age.
Emma was still grumbling. "He still thinks I don't care about Neal? I do! At least I did. It's just…he died and I moved on! Just like I had to with Killian. It's been eight years! Do I have to mourn him for the rest of my life to make him happy?"
"He said it himself, Emma." Robin tried to sympathise, resting a hand on her shoulder. "You forgot the anniversary of his father's death three years running. It's clearly still a very sore point. You may have moved on, but he clearly hasn't. Sorry to raise an awkward subject but, how long after his death did you start dating Killian?"
"What's that got to do with anything? I don't know, a couple of weeks? It's not as though we were still together! He didn't even know him until we went to New York. Henry thought he was dead."
"And why would he think him dead?"
Emma groaned, remembering what she'd told Henry all those years ago. How his father, a fire officer, had died a hero, saving lives. Remembering her shame at having been dishonest.
"Because I lied. I told him he'd died in a fire. He finally met him by accident, when he was twelve. He lost him during the second curse, and finally, when he was only thirteen…" the last words were almost a whisper.
"So, in his mind, he feels you deliberately kept his father from him? He got so little time with him before he died, it's no wonder he feels the loss more." But she wouldn't look at him. That's when Robin looked over at her wife, realising she was also seriously upset. "Regina?"
"He said, 'To hell with you. Both of you'!" the brunette shook her head. "That he's going to go far away, just to get away from us. We've lost him."
"I don't believe that. I'll go talk to him after we've both had a chance to cool down." She said the words but Emma didn't sound too sure herself.
"With respect, mi'ladies, he's your son and I won't interfere, but I suggest you not do that? I think it'll make matters worse. How about I go? I'm not involved."
Storybrooke Cemetery
And so, an hour later, as Robin walked with Honour and Roland to the grave of Henry's father, he saw the young man sitting on the ground next to the headstone.
On the way to the graveyard, Robin had been telling them stories about Neal. He told about how he'd helped rescue Henry in Neverland. And of his death, revealing the name of a certain dangerous witch to protect them, ultimately at the cost of his life. Reaching the grave, he noticed the small granite stone marking the plot, which read simply:
Beloved Son
Neal Cassidy
It seemed such a small comment on a life. Four words to describe the resting place of a hero? He glanced across to another headstone, larger and more ornate.
Graham Humbert
Sheriff of Storybrooke
Born 14th December 1981– Died 6th March 2013
He looked at the dash between the dates. Thirty-one years? That dash representing an entire life. Just a dash.
He stepped slowly in front of him. "Henry, would you like to change your father's headstone? Four words doesn't seem right, somehow. Perhaps we should give him something more fitting for a hero?"
The Author looked up, noticing him for the first time. "Um, yeah, I guess."
Looking at a style of an older grave nearby, Robin focused and drew down his magic. The small stone seemed to double in size almost immediately, though the granite face was now completely blank, clean and shiny. "What would you like to say about him?"
"Well…he was my dad. He was loved, and he died for all of us. I wouldn't be here without him having been born. I can't even remember his birth date, or even how old he was. At least two hundred I think, because of the magic jump through the realms. But he was my dad!"
"Okay, well how about this?" With a small twirl of his fingers, inlaid lettering, in gothic script, appeared on the stone, surrounded by tracery:
Neal Cassidy
'Baelfire'
Beloved Father, Son & True Hero
He Died Saving Storybrooke from Evil
Forever in the Hearts of Those who Loved Him
Henry slowly nodded as he admired at the new stone, before looking up at the archer. "That's perfect. Thanks Robin." He rested a hand on the new stone. "Apart from me and grandpa, you're the first person to visit it in three years." He looked down at Robin's children, managing a sad smile.
"I've been telling them what I remember about him. As I told you before, I never knew Neal long, but I do know how it feels to lose a parent too early. The pain slowly goes, but the memory always stays with you, doesn't it?"
Henry used his own magic to cover the grave in fresh flowers, before standing. "You think I should go back and apologise to them, don't you?"
"Only if you mean it. You lost your temper but that's understandable. But they're just being a little over-protective, Henry. They love you, but underneath it all, like most parents they hate the thought of any one of their children no longer needing them, let alone relying on them. It's difficult for them. Don't forget, they didn't receive much love in their lives until you came along?"
Henry managed a silent chuckle. "Well, it's not like they don't have plenty of it now, is it? There's four kids at home, thanks to you! Five, if you count Margot. You're a big old family these days and I'm kind of an outsider, I guess?" He regretted the words the moment they left his lips, knowing he sounded petulant.
"Henry, you're an intelligent young man, so I'm sure you don't really believe that? When you're away, they constantly talk about you! About your life, your plans, and their fears for you. They miss you. After all, you're their first born! What you don't seem to realise is that those two regard you as their own saviour. They both had a tough upbringing, then you came along. You becoming independent is as difficult for them as it is for you, but you should never underestimate their love for you, even if they sometimes show it the wrong way." He let Henry mull over his words. "Anyway, on to happier things? I personally think you travelling across Europe is a great idea. I just wish I could come along with you."
"Difficult, now you've got so many kids?" He sarked, though smiling now. "You'd probably need your own plane if you carried on!"
"Only five children, at the last count. Besides, Rolly here will be a man himself soon enough." He brought a hand down on the boy's shoulder. "Perhaps I'll act the same when he and your sisters leave us, which they all will eventually."
"So, you don't think you'll have any more? Maybe create your own football team?"
Robin chuckled. "If you'd heard your mothers yelling at me in that delivery room, you'd know the answer to that! I've lived amongst soldiers, sailors, bandits and thieves, but I'd never heard such a wide range of profanities, swearing and threats! No, I think we have more than enough, thank you. Each one is a blessing. And that includes you!"
"I hardly think my mums would agree, considering how I've treated them recently."
"That's not the reason you're leaving, is it? To get away from all the commotion here? You don't really feel you're no longer part of this family, do you? I'd hate to think that I was in some way the cause."
"No, it's definitely not, Robin. In fact, I like you being there for them. You calm them down, and you're the nearest thing I've had to a dad since…well, ever, really. I've known you longer than I knew my own dad. It's just that I need to live a little, you know? Harvard's been great, and I've met loads of really interesting people, but I've never really travelled. I just want some adventures of my own. And as for grandpa Gold, you guys don't know him like I do! He's not as old as Merlin, but he's been around for centuries. He knows so much. And underneath it, he's really rather cool! I want to spend some proper time with him. Mums may hate his guts, but whenever they're in trouble, who do they all turn to? Rumpelstiltskin! He's always being asked for favours and deals, yet once everyone's gets what they want, they shun him again. And even when Gideon got taken by the Black Fairy, everyone sided will Belle, even though she was the stupid one who handed him to Blue! It's just not fair."
"I'm inclined to agree. I certainly saw a very different side to Rumple when we went to the Dark Realm. One day I'll tell you all about it, but we spent some time talking and it's clear he's continuing to fight that malevolent force controlling him. Perhaps the vacation will do him some good. Will he be taking Gideon? Maybe Belle to help look after him?"
"Not sure about Belle. She's moved back in with him, to be with Gid, but it's different now. The influence she used to have over him is gone. It was bad enough when she used his dagger against him to force him over the town line. But giving their own son to Blue to keep him away from grandpa? That was probably the last straw!"
The Gold Mansion
"So, you're going to travel with Henry? That's a surprise. What brought this on?"
"He asked me. I made a deal, of sorts, with him," He smiled at the cheek of the young man. "Besides, now he's put the idea in my head, I started looking into it more closely. I'm intending to visit Scotland, where some of my ancestors lived. Henry wants to cover England, so we may split up for a while. Then we'll visit Scandinavia, before heading south. We should take a month or so."
Belle was astonished. In all the years she'd known Rumple, he never once mentioned a wish to travel. That was her thing! "A month? What about Gideon? He's going to miss you terribly."
"I don't see why. I'm taking him with me."
"WHAT? You're seriously thinking of taking my son away from me for a whole month? How do you think you're going to manage with a baby? Rumple, how could you?" She was horrified. Their damaged relationship was gradually improving, even if there was still a lack of real trust between them. Whatever was he thinking? She couldn't be parted from Gideon for that long!
"I think you mean our son? I was going to ask you to join us. After all, you always said you wanted to travel, so here's your chance? If you prefer not to, then young Amanda said she would happily travel with us to act as a nanny. We'll manage one way or another."
"You didn't think to ask me, first? You didn't think he could be left here, with me?"
"I trust you with him completely. I trust you to love and care for him, but unfortunately you're still in thrall to the blue gnat, and those ridiculous heroes. I told you I wasn't going to be parted from Gideon ever again, and I meant it. However, I'm happy for us to continue work on repairing our relationship; and perhaps leaving this place for a while may help? You're welcome to join us, but I'll certainly not be leaving him behind."
Belle glowered but could still see his point. After all, it was her fault Gideon had been kidnapped in the first place. Would it be so bad, leaving Storybrooke for a while? She and Rumple were amicable enough, though her influence over him had waned, as he no longer trusted her with his dagger. It was also true that Snow and the fairies had continually encouraged her to move away from him.
But she was going nowhere without her son!
"I understand that your friendly mermaid is currently on her way back here, and it would seem her split with hr prince now appears to be permanent. She's also likely to be heading over here, as I believe you're currently the only close friend she has on land? If you wish to invite her along to join us on the trip, I'd have no problem with that. Money's not an issue, and she could also act as a convenient babysitter from time to time, leaving both of us free to explore, as and when."
"You'd do that?" Belle was astonished, knowing that the Dark One already knew about her and Ariel. "Knowing...about us?"
"Why not? As I said Belle, you're free to live your own life. She's been one of your more calming influences so far, so perhaps her joining us would do you good."
Was he trying to set her up? Test her in some way? Why? Well, he was offering her a month-long sightseeing trip so, why not?
"Well, it looks like we're all going to Europe then!"
