"So while we're here, and you five are still being punished for going against orders, we've come up with a way for you to not be stuck inside the entire time." Professor Cerise said. "You'll each have personal chaperones. You'll get to spend so much time with your parents on this trip."

"Can't you just kill us?" Ash asked, glaring daggers at his father.

"I still say I shouldn't be punished." Nia said.

"Do the crime, do the time." Professor Cerise said calmly.

"Don't worry Nia, I have plenty of Ultra Mega Adventures planned for us." Peony exclaimed.

"Whoppee." Nia said.

Disheartened, the teens moved out, still feeling this was an overreaction.

"Ashlynn, wait!" Richard said.

"No." Ash said.

"Just listen to me." Richard plead, grabbing Ash's shoulder, only to be thrown back from an aura barrier.

"I have to do no such thing." Ash said. "You have no right to be giving me orders."

"I want to do something for your mom." Richard said.

"Why do you need my help then?" Ash asked.

"Cover more ground, you care about her too, the only thing we have in common is battling." Richard listed off. "Will you help me or not?"

"I'll help, but I will not compare our battle skills to one another." Ash said angrily.

A bit later Ash came back down ready to adventure outside.

"Will you be warm enough?" Richard asked.

"I'll be fine dad." Ash said coldly. "Where's Pikachu?"

"Still with your mother, I couldn't find a way to explain needing him without giving it away. So here, I got you these back." Richard said, holding out Ash's Pokeballs.

"Where's the Pokémon I handed in?" Ash asked.

"This is what I was given." Richard said. "I didn't take them if that's what you're thinking."

"I wasn't, these are mine, just not what I turned in." Ash said, holding his fast ball and lure ball. "Hold on."

"Ash, I didn't expect to see you again so soon." Professor Cerise said calmly.

"Where are they?" Ash said plainly.

"Care to be more specific?" Professor Cerise asked.

"The Pokemon I turned in yesterday, where are they?" Ash asked.

"Back in Kanto, you're being punished, remember." Professor Cerise reminded.

"I understand Urshifu and Regieleki, but Charizard and Torterra!" Ash questioned.

"And Impidimp, don't need you spying through the vents again." Professor Cerise commented.

"Where's the transfer phone, I'm getting Charizard." Ash said.

"You're being punished for going behind my back. I've told Eva and the others to not send you Charizard, or Naganadle, or Urshifu, or Regieleki." Professor Cerise said.

"Then I'll get Dragonite!"

"Also on the list."

"Noivern!"

"Nice try."

"Talonflame!"

"Guess again."

"Staraptor!"

"I heard what it did to that Aggron, I'm not crazy." Professor Cerise said. "If you want a flying type you can use Hawlucha, Rowlet, or Noctowl."

"…". Ash was thinking over his options. "What about Tauros?"

"If you think Tauros will move fast in that snow, go ahead." Professor Cerise laughed.

A bit later

"Okay dad, I'm all set." Ash said. "So what are we looking for?"

"I've seen your moms interest in it a few times, she'd like another Mr. Mime for Mimey, and I thought a Galarian one would be a nice gift." Richard said.

'Mr Mime, Galarian Form. An ice and psychic type.'

"Great. Psychic." Ash said sarcastically.

"What's wrong with psychic types?" Richard asked.

"Like you want to know. Let's just find the Mr Mime and catch it." Ash said. "Tauros come on out!"

The two bulls popped out of their balls, awaiting their riders.

"I actually have Rapidash." Richard sighed.

"Of course you do." Ash said, recalling a Tauros. "We should stick together, just in case something happens."

"Surprised you want to spend time with me." Richard said.

"Safety in numbers." Ash said reluctantly.

"I get you don't like me, but I'm trying to be a good father." Richard said.

Tauros immediately stopped in its tracks.

"No, Professor Kukui tried to be a good father. You are trying to fix your mistakes." Ash said. "I haven't needed you in years."

"Ash." Richard said warily.

"No! I'm not done!" Ash argued. "You just show up, clearly recently, and assume you can just pick up where we left off! I was a little kid! I'm legally an adult! You can't mend something that isn't there!"

"Ash!" Richard shouted, his Rapidash shoving Tauros out of the way.

Ash could barely make out what had happened, but he could hear the galloping.

'Pokemon unknown'

"Dad, we need to go. Now!" Ash said.

"What are those things?!" Richard said as they raced back to the hotel.

"I don't know, last time the dex couldn't identify a Pokémon, it was Ho oh." Ash said. "Stop!"

"What in the?" Richard said. As he watched a large bird run past them, and another two fly overhead. "Whats going on!?"

"I don't think bringing the Regi's together meant the end of the world." Ash said. "I think releasing them caused it."

"We need to get back to the village! Now!" Richard yelled.

"How?! I can't see a thing!" Ash yelled. "Up ahead! A cave!"

"What good will that do?!" Richard yelled back.

"It's better than nothing!" Ash said as Tauros charged forward.

Inside the cave

"What is going on!" Richard demanded.

"If I knew! Do you really think I'd be panicking!" Ash shouted. "There's at least five legendaries out there now, and I have no idea how to even deal with that, or where we are!"

"I'm sorry I brought you out there." Richard apologized.

"Oh great! That makes up for it!" Ash said. "Everyone I care about might be dead! But you're sorry! Great to know!" Ash shouted, his aura flaring.

The cave lit up around them, symbols illuminating the walls.

"Ash? What is this?" Richard asked.

"I, I don't know." Ash said. "Wait, I recognize these symbols."

"What do they say?" Richard asked.

"Hold on!" Ash barked. "To restore balance, you must return the birds of Galar, gather the Swords of Justice, and return the King to his throne?"

"The birds of Galar? The swords of justice? The king?" Richard asked. "What does that mean?"

"I'm guessing the birds are the three we saw run/fly past. The swords of justice, those are in Unova, how are we going to get them here? As for the king, I have no idea." Ash admitted.

'Thump. Thump. Thump. Thump.'

"Dad, calm down I can hear your heartbeat." Ash said thinking.

"Ash, that's not me." Richard said. "Look."

"Seriously!" Ash shouted at the wormhole. "Of all times now you give me an Ultra Beast to deal with!"

A set of paws stepped out of the portal.

"Not an ultra beast!" Ash said, looking at the Entei. "We need to go!"

"We're trapped. Legendary Pokémon outside, and legendary Pokémon inside!" Richard exclaimed.

"We've got more movement outside than in. Now move!" Ash said as they began racing back towards the village.

Back at the village

"Ash! Richard! What's going on?" Professor Cerise asked.

"No time to explain! Get everyone inside!" Ash said.

"I'm not leaving you!" Richard argued.

"You're safer inside!" Ash said forcefully. "Lucario! I need your help!"

From the hotel, the rest of the team could see the rampaging legendary Pokémon.

"Come on Ash." Serena said, looking out a window.

Ash knew he could do this. Sir Aaron made far bigger ones that stood for years at a time.

"Come on!" Ash said, releasing as much aura as he could, shielding the town from the Legendaries.

"Ash!" Richard said catching him.

"I'm, I'm good. Just a really big trick." Ash said, powering through it. "We need to make a plan."

Inside the hotel

"Do you see what you've caused! Our whole family is in danger because of your vacation!" Brittany's father spat at Professor Cerise. "We're pulling her as soon as we get home!"

"I understand your concerns, but there is no correlation between us and this attack." Professor Cerise said. "Ash, you were out there, tell them what happened."

"Let's leave that be for now." Ash said, before the parents erupted into a war. "Hey guys. Guys!"

"Listen up!" Richard shouted over the parents. "Ash, the floor is yours."

"Arguing is doing us no good. I have us protected, but that also means we're trapped. Now I found some text that might let us fully fix everything." Ash said.

"Ash, now is not the time." Professor Cerise tried calming him.

"Professor, with all due respect, do you remember way back, before the Wallace Cup came to Vermillion? We were in the Sevii Islands, and a storm hit the city. That was the first time you put me in charge, to keep things calm when you couldn't. Well, I'm taking charge, legendary Pokémon are running rampant, and we have a few ideas on how to stop them." Ash said.

"Ash, what do you mean?" Professor Cerise asked.

"I found some ancient text, I couldn't translate all of it, but what I was able to translate talked about returning Galar's birds, bringing the Swords of Justice, and returning the King to his throne." Ash said. "I get we messed up, but now, we need our Pokémon back. We're going to tackle it one thing at a time. Nia, you're good with those ancient symbols, see if I missed anything. Peony, you said you had excursions for all over here planned, we need any information we can get on the birds and the King. Chrysa, Ren, Professor Cerise, and Serena, figure out how we're getting the swords of justice here. Chloe get Corvinight, Goh get Golurk, we've got birds to find. With how big they are, they should be popping up on the news. Everyone else, keep people calm and inside the bubble. The Crown Tundra just declared war on us." Ash said, looking back out the doors.
