"What you need to know about those birds are a few things. Legends say they are Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres." Peony explained. "And if you want to catch up to them you'll need to be fast."
"What about getting them back here, how are we going to do that?" Chloe questioned.
"There's a tree to the far south, called the Dynamax Tree, it's believed they look that way because of its fruits." Peony said.
"That's as good of an idea as any. We aren't catching them, just returning them. We'll try for the tree, and figure it out from there if it doesn't work." Ash said.
"Ash, can we talk?" Serena asked, as the others dispersed to get ready.
"Look I get you're angry I left you out, but Mandibuzz isn't the best flyer." Ash said. "We need to keep as few of use outside the barrier at a time."
"Just, promise me you'll be careful. I'm still worried about what's happening." Serena said.
"I'll be fine." Ash said, as they walked through the lobby. The lab staff had overrun the area, and most other visitors were compliant.
"We'll be back before you know it." Ash said.
"Okay, I've got a mark on the birds." Professor Cerise exclaimed. "Goh, get to the main Wild area, Zapdos is running rampant, Golurk should be able to catch up. Chloe, Corvinight has the best endurance in long flights, and Moltres hasn't stopped flying around the Isle of Armor, Ash, head up the mountain, Corvinight Cabs have reported seeing a strange Pokémon up there."
"On it!" The three trainers said before making their way out.
"Are you sure we can come and go as we please?" Goh asked cautiously.
"Can't fix this from in here, but the aura bubble should allow us in and out." Ash said.
"Well then, see you at the tree." Goh said as Golurk rocketed off.
Goh held on tight as Golurk rocketed through the stormy skies. He could make out a few Pokémon in the area, but now wasn't the time for catching.
"Golurk look out!" Goh shouted as a Thundurus came at them.
Golurk went full throttle, sending Thundurus spinning as he blasted straight north.
"I can't believe that worked!" Goh cried out.
From the cloud came therian Tornadus, Thundurus, and Landorus, now chasing after him.
"Of course." Goh deadpanned.
They had barely made it back to main Galar when Golurk was shot down from the sky.
"Golurk! Return!" Goh said, brushing himself off, as the legendary Pokémon closed in. "I can do this. I have to do this. Cinderace! Inteleon! Electabuzz!"
As the beasts fired attacks at Goh, he flinched in preparation.
"This was a lot easier with help." Goh said. "Cinderace use Pyro Ball! Inteleon use Snipe Shot! Electabuzz use Thunderpunch!"
Electabuzz seemed to deal a bit of damage against Tornadus, but even then, it wasn't much. And Cinderace and Inteleon weren't fairing much better.
"Focus on one of them!" Goh called out. "Start with Tornadus!"
Inteleon shot high, knocking the Pokémon off balance, where Cinderace shot center, throwing it back, only for Electabuzz to hit it from behind, dispersing it into smoke?
"Can Tornadus do that?!" Goh freaked out. "No time! Do it again! Cinderace use Blaze Kick! Inteleon use Hydro Pump! Electabuzz use Ice Punch!"
Electabuzz stopped Landorus in its tracks as Cinderace landed on it from above, and Inteleon shot it into Thundurus.
"Now finish them off! Cinderace use Pyro Ball! Inteleon use Air Slash! Electabuzz use Uproar!"
The other two therian Pokémon dispersed into smoke, leaving more questions than answers.
"No time to find out how they did that, I need to find Zapdos, or at least Galarian Zapdos? Was Chloe right? Is the fact that there are multiples of legendaries a sign of the possibility of a multiverse collapsing, where only powerful enough Pokémon can survive into the new reality?" Goh questioned as he ran off to the Wild area.
In the Wild area
"This thing makes Ash's Tauros seem peaceful." Goh said, as Zapdos charged around the Wild area. "And Golurk was knocked out by those maybe fake legendary Pokémon. Wow today just keeps getting weirder." Goh said shaking his head, clearing his thought. "None of my remaining Pokémon are fast enough to catch up to it, but maybe they don't need to be!" Goh said seeing a different Pokémon in the distance. "Alright! Pokeball Go!"
'Bewear has been added to your Pokédex.'
"Glad that worked, now to stop Zapdos. Bewear come on out!" Goh said. "Stop that Pokémon!"
Despite what Ash had told him about Bewears, Zapdos easily ran over the bear Pokémon without a second thought.
"Okay, so strength is a no go." Goh said. "Not speed, no attack. Oh this is a dumb idea." Goh said grabbing a Pokeball. "Wailord I choose you!"
The whale Pokémon landed in the lake, sending water all over.
"Okay Wailord use Brine!"
Water shot up stopping the Zapdos in its tracks, quickly surrounding it.
"Zapdos! I just want to help." Goh said.
The Zapdos jumped upwards and away from the lake sending a shockwave through it as he stomped, only to get shot from the sky.
"Thank you Inteleon!" Goh said. "I get that you're scared, but you need to return to your tree." Goh said, slowly approaching the bird.
Zapdos tilted its head upwards, revealing damages on its side.
"Those aren't from me? What could have caused this?" Goh said, seeing the burns. "Hold on, I've got some medicine, but it might sting a little." Goh said, grabbing supplies from his bag.
Zapdos flinched a bit when the medicine was first applied, but quickly calmed down.
"Do you think you can make it back to the tree now?" Goh asked.
Zapdos nodded, sprinting off back towards the tundra.
"Now I need to find a way back myself." Goh sighed, realizing both Golurk and Wailord were in no condition to travel.
Back in the Tundra
"I can't make out what these symbols are." Nia complained.
"We'll just have to keep trying, we can't give up." Peony said. "Not that we have much choice."
"No. I mean I actually can't make it out." Nia said. "These photos are awful. I'm going to take a look at it myself."
"Nia it's dangerous out there, and you don't have a Pokémon!" Peony argued.
"Ashlynn survived, and look how tiny she is!" Nia countered.
"This isn't about size, it's about skill. Your cousin is a skilled trainer and you're, you're my darling daughter, and I don't want to lose you." Peony said.
"How about a compromise. I take Copperajah with me for protection, and if I'm not back by the time Ashlynn and the others get back, send a rescue party. I'll call when I'm at the cave." Nia offered.
"Be careful out there." Peony said. Thankfully most of the surrounding legendary Pokémon had been drawn away by the leaving trainers.
