The apprentice, petrified, took his time to anwser.
-Hi-Hiroto Maki, Stohess district.

Then the major noticed something weird in his military salute.
-Is your heart on your right side ? NO !
He went on like that, he observed (and frightened) every new recruit. Except some of them. He didn't stop in front of her. Seeing her eyes had been enough to understand that she had already suffered a pression and fear much more intense than anything he could make her feel.
Sat far away from her comrades, she was daydreaming alone. Which in her case, meant she was isolating herself in her own little world.
-You haven't told us what your name is !
The blond girl turned around and saw two apprentices, a blond girl with a bob, chestnut eyes and tall, and a brown-haired boy with eyes she could not tell the color of, between green, grey and blue, a little taller than the girl beside him. They seemed to be about three years older than her.
-I-I… No, I guess no ? If you are interested, it is Aki Misaki.
-I am Yuki Amano, and she is Haru Hitchimaru, he said pointing to the girl next to him.
-You have such ethereal eyes ! said the tall girl.
-Right, Haru is right. Your eyes look gorgeous, added the brown-haired guy.
-Ah…Thank you, said Aki, letting her head drop this hide her awkwardness. She hated it when people were interested in her. Unfortunately this happened quite regularly, because of her unusual pupils' color.
-By the way ! Because the major didn't think it useful to traumatize you, we don't know where you come from.
The young girl knew that if they didn't have their own littke guess, then they wouldn't have asked ; after all, what for ? Except if you have lived on the other side of the walls, it is not interesting. Or if you have lived « the Fall ».
-Shiganshina.
At least, this silenced them. And fortunately, because the girl hated talking about that.
-Ah ! said the teenagers together. Have you seen them ? Titans ?
Seeing their sparkling eyes, Aki hesitated for a short moment and then nodded.
-Yes.
She didn't want to say anymore, because everytime she talked about it, it brought back bad memories that awakened horrible feelings. But now itw as done, and she doubted she would get any sleep that night.
-And how are they ? The colossus and the armored ?
The blonde sighed deeply.
-The colossus titan must have been ten meters higher than the walls. And the armored… I saw him only from far away… But he really was, I can't quite explain it, a kind of maleficent aura surrounded him. I really don't see how we could defeat them. Except humanity's strongest, she added for herself.
-How old were you ?
-Nine.
-So… Now you're… Twelve I guess ?
-Yes. And you ?
-We are both fifteen.
-Fifteen… ? Why are you joining the corps now ?
-Complicated, sighed the brown-haired boy.
-No problem if you do not wish to talk about it.
-His mother was sick, he simply didn't want to leave her alone, explained Haru.
The smallest smiled. Afte all, if she herself still had a mother, she woud obviously have stayed by her side to take care of her. A mother is the most precious thing in a child's heart, as well as a father.
-I understand. It's all in your honour, Yuki. And you, Haru, why did you stay with him ?
-I…, she said while blushing a little, we are friends, aren't we ?
The youngest thought that Haru certainly felt more than friendship for the boy. After all, they were the same age and seemed to like the same things. So why wouldn't it work out ? Plus Aki had the skill to feel people's relationships. Except when it was about her… And these two seemed to get along more than well.
-Of course, agreed the smallest.
Yuki turned around and saw a tall brown-haired guy coming in his direction, toward who he went -taking Haru with him-, after having said sorry to Aki.
The young girl found herself alone, which relieved her. She did not hate the two teenagers, not at all, but she liked -a lot for her age- being alone. She struggled to keep up conversations.
She looked at her watch : 11 :30 p.m.. Oh, yes, it was more than time to go to bed for her.
More than half the trainees were already in the dorms, only those who were older than twelve stayed up talking. She was going toward the door when a voice called her :
-Little one, already going to sleep ?
She turned around and recognized Yuki.
-I am younger than you…, she sighed. What do you want from me, I need lots of sleep.
Except she certainly wasn't going to sleep at all, she forgot to say so.
-Right, good night little dwarf !
She ignored him and got out. Then, she went toward the dorms and got under her fresh bedsheets.
